I love beats like this. With it, the lyricist can spit and I can follow where he's going with it.. None of that garbled mess they got going on right now.. I can groove to this... Skipping down the avenue, windows half down, sunroof open, kickin that flava.....!
At 40 yrs old I've witness the birth, growth and evolution of hip-hop. I hate making blanket statements, but 90% of today's is music straight-up bullsh!t. This track is bangin' and is what true hip-hop is about. It kinda reminds me of A Tribe Called Quests "Word Play", loved that album.
@alexdelgiudice1 exactly.... they were the three who made up the original group, then elzhii later became a apart.. what im sayin is that slum village meant dilla t3 and baatin.. it wasnt like baatin and t3 were seperate
All J Dilla beats and old slum village songs have the least dislike votes than any other video I've seen on youtube. I've heard it's because J Dilla was an extraterrestrial, born in some place not of this earth. I think most listeners can agree and that's because we hear this song and we blast off into outer space and go into his world where the art of beat making was first discovered and it was presented to J Dilla to bring to our known world where we can enjoy the utopia of music he made.
You say Hannah Montana-i fucking punch you in the face
92% of teenagers have turned to New school and Pop.If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. Don't let the real hip hop die
Here me out here...Honestly there are a lot of producers still puttin out good consisten music like Khrysis, 9th Wonder, Nottz, Madlib, Kanye etc. but Dilla Dawg...This man put out epic joints each time...and i think that was his whole mission...to put out classic, legendary, just boombastic claps consistently...Nobody does t that or has at least not in Dillas's capacity....this dude was in another galaxy!
If this had those lo-fi dusty drums Dilla used on Fantastic Volume I, this would be one of my favourite DIlla beats of all time. Something about the drums takes something away for me.
this is one of my favourite SV tracks, Baatin said he felt an eerie presence in the studio when they recorded it. And the beat after is a perfect example of the J dilla sound, very organic and smooth. I'll miss those guys. RIP Slum Village
@maadvillain1 One of my favorite lines of all hip-hop, along with "ever since I was a young boy, chillin in my daddy's nuts, all I'm thinking was a rhyme and dope cuts", the chorus to Look of Love and "You know what you need [to do]"

No chorus.... I love that SV did that so much. Honestly with the way Dilla made his beats you really didn't need a chorus.
