The tango traditionally danced socially in Buenos Aires and Montevideo needs a totally different approach.

If you want to learn the traditional improvisational dance please don't waste time picking up bad habits from ballroom teachers.

Check other videos and find someone who teaches basics of posture and approach-completely different from ballroom

Tango ? mm.. some of the advices are veeeeery true :-) but tango has no rules to cout ! Tango is a lifestile not a dance..after a few Year learning "Tango" i resigned to know I never will be a good Tango dancer.. less then 2x a week is not enough to keep in traning and be a good lead ... This is a good introduction American tango as done in ballrooms in the US. Don't forget there is more than one kind of Tango. I myself prefer Argentine tango, but, American tango is easier and fits in with a dozen or more dances done in rapid succession in ballroom dances. I agree it doesn't compare to Argentine tango, but it has its place, too.

No, in American tango, you do move your head, in fact, you SNAP YOUR HEAD! It's all part of the game. It's staccato, mean, sharp, with heel leads, not those tender Argentine flat footed steps. It's an entirely different style and may appear comical to you. But try to accept that there is more than one way to dance tango. By the way, I prefer Argentine tango, but understand that there are other styles, too.

Italian, Spanish, French, Romanian and people in America from these ethnic background like Argentinians, French Canadians, most Uruguayans, and Italian Aemricans ARE LATINS, AND HAVE A LATIN CULTURE. Mexicans, on the other hand have a beautiful but mostly native American (Aztec) culture...
