This is so strange :-) I removed Windows for the same reason - to be very unfriendly OS. One desktop, one windows manager, one file system support, doesn't switch between users, always anti-virus and heavy firewall running in background, weak support for Virtual File System and no Logical Disk Manager for home users, difficulties to FIND and install programs... and so on :-)

Microsoft is really big on crippling the world with its resource hogging software. Note Balmer got eggs thrown at him because Microsoft bullied the government in Romania into signing on with them on a 200 Million dollar deal versus using a local provider.

Yep, I'm using Ubuntu, have for about a year.. I'm playing the entire Steam Orange Box (windows version) on wine. And got ETQW, look for "VanGoghsKnife" on Illuminatti server, that's me. I finished Portal, Ep1. and Original HL2, now trying to finish Ep2. I hate da damn "Hunters", at the Silo level with the Sticky bombs.. The Argument is, if you can get the Orange Box to run in Wine, why not everything else, it just goes to show you how many games are badly written. Like Ghost Recon AW2.

Um, Wine is not a chip emulator, its a windows replacement, it only implements the Windows API.

The next time you are playing a game in Windows, try to get out and do something without losing or crashing your game/computer. I've crashed maybe 2 times in all of the year I've used it.. Also if you ever do crash on linux, make sure to try opening an alternate shell and typing "kill -9 -1", that will throw you back to the login screen, no hard reset necessary.

BTW, Windows is a resource hog.
