For those that don't know. Queen Street racing is the name of the company that build engines and cars for drag racing purposes. This is not a road setup up. This is a drag spec engine.
@NinjaBoyFuto exhaust pipes commonly reach 1600 degrees Fahrenheit in a normal vehicle going do the road. now lets do 8,000 rpm for a minute and now the temp is up to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. If i need to explain more, just ask.
@bordenwesley I can't speak to the roadability, but I can't imagine that it's life expectancy is very long before major maintenance is required. Plus adequate cooling and heat shielding would be a challenge. The RPM range is a whole other arguement....
@vctrsone it was a reference to a post of a Porsche 911 where the manifolds were actually glowing, the video of the guy recording it and screaming "THE MANIFOLDS ARE GLOWING!!!!! THE MANIFOLDS ARE GLOWING!!!!!" was originally posted on jalopnik. just search it here on youtube
Japanese Mazda cars have high levels of Plutonium-238, 239 and 240 which are highly dangerous and radioactive forms of nuclear radiation. This radiation is from Japan's recent nuclear disaster.
two things, you remove that bend off the volute and replace it with something laminar you will probably gain 500+hpz, and i forgot how hot 2-strokes run, esp a rotary
@SlingSalsa A rotary aint a 2stroke dude, nothing like, just cause it fires more times per rev per cylinder/rotor than a 4 stroke does not make it a two stroke.
It's hard to explain how loud this sort of car is in real life. I experienced a 3 Turbo 3 rotor with a 2 ft exhaust redlining within 10 feet of me. When it redlined, I flinched from the sound. It's something you should definitely do before you die. The video's on my page.
All I have to say is... this is f'ing insane! What a monster. What are torque values looking like on it? Is that the 1100 measurement next to the HP measurement?
@EpicScandinavian It's not catching on fire. It's just... leaking. ;)
Rotaries have exceedingly high exhaust gas temps normally because of their design. Then figure in you're pumping in God knows how much boost to get it to 1500+ HP. All that air gets compressed in has to compress in the chamber, ignite, expand, and then muscle it's way out of a tiny (probably massive in this case) exhaust port, through a tube, and then be combined with the other exhausts and then shoved back in to the turbo.
It looks as though the exhaust manifolds are getting very hot. I wonder, is this a characteristic particular to rotary engines, and why is this so? I can see them glowing in the video, and this is very alarming.
Many more questions I would ask, but wish not to try your patience.
@BigWhiteTurkey Glowing exhaust pipes are not unique to rotary engines. Take a look at some of these other videos.
If you you're working an engine, meaning it's under a heavy load, in this case the dyno, and especially when you're making full power and max RPMs and you do it long enough most header equipped engines, and even with cast iron manifolds, can get very hot like this. With about 1/3 of all the energy contained in the fuel being dumped into the exhaust system it's no surprise.
to all the stupid fucks that disliked this vid u are fucking mad and should not be alowed to be around a car,,,, to the creaters nice build,, most idiots would just stick with the 2 rotar and try this with it,,,, just watch ure exaust temps or get a titaninum exaust,,, u had ure glowing realy fast,,,, also whats ure red line 12g,,, thats also what they use in rolex sportcars,, 4-6 rotar engines, good job
@capiauken good question, they were invented in like the 70's. and they use an eccentric crank. nothing rotary except that the crank spins. kind of confusing. the rod is what creates torque. the Wankel motor really has no real torque. seeing as torque is usually at low rpms, rx7 falls on face at low rpms.
@capiauken there a good motor for a 6 speed, cause of no low rpm power. kind of like an indy motor. they're built for a smooth high rpm curve. I think of it like a air powered die grinder. powerful at high rpms, and will shred metal. but try to start from a stop and it won't do shit. it actually uses similar principles. that's why they are better suited for an airplane.
1:55 - If you look very (fucking very) closely, you can see the turbo change it's angle as the manifold starts to grow under all the heat. It looks like at least 5mm of deflection if you were to measure it.
you both are righty.. cam shafts have a centrifical force.. its newtoms law. an obect in motion remain at motion till a contradicting force acts upon it (friction, heat, gravity wat ever..0 but the bore and stroke also have a bid deal.. the longer the piston has to travel.. to more torque and power.. but its slower.. small stroke or no pistons.. well high rpm and alot of hp.. and on rotarys.. well there is no limit to rpm.. just as strong you make tha metals and how much you feed it..
You should probably do another run with no filter. That way you can suck in more dust particles and blow out the apex seals. Then VTEC would kick harder.
continue continue, it appears to me the major issue is fuel economny and exhaust gasses. The EPA, ie assholes at the environmental protection agency is putting more and more restrictive limits on fuel consumption and emissions. That being the case, which are the car companies going to use? Simple. Reminds me of the small diesel Dodge made for one of their vehicals, was a jeep I believe. The EPA shelved it before they put a single engine in a car. They have all the power. We need to kill them LOL
Continue, if the rotary was "way better" as some put than the piston engine, why would car companys still be using piston engines? Think about it, they spend shitloads of money to test that stuff. If the rotary was so much better or was efficient enough, wouldn't everyone be using one? Think about it for a second. And yes, look how red the exhaust got before the turbo was completely spooled up. But exhasut will get red from a piston motor too. Sounds to me that the turbo is making the power.
Wow, lots of comments, mostly from little boys that have no clue as to what they're talking about. stupid comments like wow, that's a real vacuum cleaner..duh it would suck the floor right up. From what I've read, rotarys make better use of turbo boost than an approximatly equal piston job. But pound per pound, one realy doesn't out do the other. The rotary uses more fuel, expells more "bad stuff" and as the vid shows, makes a shitload of heat. yea, it would melt past 6 seconds. Great for racing
@jaded16340 Rotaries should not be built like this making 1000 hp, this is obviously meant for drag racing not actual circuit racing. Rotaries are very reliable that they are even used at 24 hour race like Le Mans, not a single rotary engine failed at 24 hour races.
@soverato3 Im not really sure what you are getting at, are you going professional racing? Because that's the only reason why you would need that much reliability on your engine running nonstop for 1000 hours. If you are talking about daily driving and occasional racing then it is pretty much reliable. My cousin owns a 2004 rx8 and its still going strong over 100k miles. I only trust the opinion of what I can see. so Goodluck.
how many rpms is that? probably over 12000 so itd have fuk all torque compared to the equivalent 4 stroke piston engine (generally twice the capacity of the rotary) which would rip that wankels head off and shit down its throat when installed in identical vehicles. no replacement for displacement
Okay but whats the rwhp?

turbo lag must be insane with that.....
samwiserich 4 months ago
@samwiserich Rotary engines are known high RPM engines so Turbo lag is less of a problem from a sub 7+k V8.
ecchibanzaii 4 months ago
@ecchibanzaii it may be less of a problem, but i can almost guarantee that it cant sustain 1600+ hp for to many
runs and secondly if you was to have that in a car and try to race someone. This thing would lose because of the
fact of it taking a good 5 seconds to build boost.
samwiserich 4 months ago
@samwiserich That 1600BHP wasn't meant for long runs.
The Le Mans 787B actually lowered the power so that it would be endurable, though it had high fuel consumption.
How to defeat turbo lag; keep a high RPM launch.

I would love to see the Torque Curve for that beast.
I have had a couple of RX Mazdas (2 to be exact) and I know they need some help at low rpm.
Once you get above 2500 rpm they pull like mules.
I have seen a few Rotary Karts that seem to have more low end torque than what I expected (equal to most 2 strokes) so I know there is a trick to it.
For the record:
Both of my Rotary engines failed at 50K miles.
Not a fluke..and the maintenance on both of them was flawless so that was not an issue.

how many rpms is that? probably over 12000 so itd have fuk all torque compared to the equivalent 4 stroke piston engine (generally twice the capacity of the rotary) which would rip that wankels head off and shit down its throat when installed in identical vehicles. no replacement for displacement
