@chunkyjustice in the cas of Morning Musume, however, two girls (Mari Yaguchi in 2005 and Miki Fujimoto in 2007) "left the group" due to boyfriend scandals (their contract does not allow them to have a boyfriend to keep up the "untouched pure idol" image). They did not recieve a graduation ceremony. In another case, a former MoMusu member (graduated from Morning Musume in 2004 to form a new duo with another girl) was fired from Hello! Project due to several scandals (underage smoking+boyfriend)
@chunkyjustice no no, she doesn't get fired :). In connection to Hello! Project, a graduation means just that a girl leaves the band (sometimes a girl also leaves Hello! Project at the same time, other just become soloists within Hello! Project or form a new band). These girls, who graduate from a band, get a graduation ceremony at a concert, usually at the end of a tour. The other members give them goodbye messages and the girl sings a final solo song.
@chunkyjustice I would never do that, but as I don't live in Japan and thus am not affected by the idol world (these girls are all called "idols/aidoru"), I can't really say that.
Especially at this group the girls are often between 12 and 15 years old when they come into the group. Currently the leader of the group is nearly 25 years old, she's going to graduate next month. The currently youngest member has just turned 13.
I think the parents know what they let the girls into.
@chunkyjustice Well, this goup is Morning Musume (translated "daughters of morning".
Directly related to them are the current groups °C-ute, Berryz Koubou and S/mileage because they are all at the same "organization" called Hello! Project. But you can also mention quite every other japanese girlgroup, especially AKB48 (they are currently EXTREMELY popular and their sales are breaking every record).
@chunkyjustice The age range of these girls at the time of this concert (spring 2007) was from 14 (2 girls) to 22 (2 girls).
They are dressed like that because they are used to outfits like these. This group (and the groups related to them) often use outfits like that for their concerts.
i just love the first 46 seconds of this its so magical realli expecially when the lights come up and aichan is standing there looking like a goddess =]]]]
yeah this song realli shouldve been a single and i noticed that guy screaming sayu!!! LOL
and just to let peeps know if they dont already morning musume are gonna be doing a show in america for the anime expo convention yayyy!! eventhough i cant go =[[
damn i wish they would make a pv out of this already. this song is too good to left to do at a concert! and takahashi....damn....thats the kind of voice i like to hear!:D
Aw I hate it when really great songs only end up as album tracks instead of singles. This would have been an amazing single! Kinda like Berryz Sakura wa Rakusa... that would have made a great single too. This live was really great!
yes yes yes!...best performance and my favorite song!...they should do more songs like this...you know like a lot of echoes not just unison...there's a lot of girls and they're all talented!..go gaki!!
She sprained her ankle during this tour. While it was healing, it was too risky for her to keep running up and down stairs, on and off-stage. So they had her stay on stage near that "musical note" chair, where she could sit down if she needed to.
Pretty much every year they hold auditions for new people to join... then once new people join any old members (*normally* the oldest members of the group at the time) "graduate" to go onto other projects like solo careers or modelling. Understand?
Dang how many girls are here in this group. If they try to make a girl group of this size in USA, I think it will fail due to individualistic nature of US culture.
Actually, there are only nine members here. Morning Musume has had a total of 25 members over the last ten years. They have auditions and "graduations" every year, so the line-up is always changing.

Well, Japanese people really don't believe in the use of make-up. Their philosophy is that their skin is pure and beautiful already (in which 99% of the time it is), so there is no use in using beauty products. However, make-up users tend to use it VERY sparingly/lightly (with the exception of entertainers, as they use it for dramatic effect). Most times on normal people, I only see lip and eye products.
LOL! Um no. My cousin's wife is Japanese, and while she rarely does a dramatic I am wearing makeup look she wears it everyday.
And so do all her friends. In fact when I went to Japan everywhere I went I saw someone doing makeup. In the bathrooms, on the train, sometimes even at the table @ restuarants.

But I'm assuming they all work, or they're on the older side (25+). I also see MANY Japanese that never wear (or even think about wearing) make-up.
Also, saw my last sentence? Sparingly? You probably can't tell in the first place that they were wearing make-up unless they were putting it on. If they do use it, most times they know how/ how much to use, unlike Westerners.
That is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard on a video's comments. You can't say a nation wears less make up than another nation, there is absolutely no statistic for that. If anything, Japan's makeup industry is GIGANTIC in comparison to other countries. Actors, actresses, singers, TV idols and stars, they ALL wear make up, and it doesn't somehow "not apply to Japan because their skin is pure"
It was arguably the best and most popular track from the album, which I think is why they went with "Onna ni Sachi Are" for the next single. This may be the new, post-Yossie style of MM.
I remeber when this Concert came out :D I love Sexy 8 Beat! missing Yoshie and Miki <3
