I think its great that celebs want to know what combat is like. Combat in iraq or afgh is different for everyone. To some its a vacation! Yes I said it a vacation. Because they dont go on patrols or convoys. The military is divided into 2 parts combats arms and support arms. I am from 3rd ranger batt. Infantry. We all choose our jobs. When a celeb comes to visit a fob. Our combat arms brothers have to up the security outside so the fob doesnt get mortared. So we dont have that luxory of seeing c

this sounds so naive to me... i agree with theperfectgentlemen. my sister dated a canadian soldier who went to afghanistan, when he came back, their relationship crumbled, he was just not the same. Why would you want to know what war is like ? Are you looking for a hero or something? I'm taking the risk to be rude here but, I PERSONNALY think there's little heroism in war. To me, war is rooted in nothing else but greed, fear, and hatred, whatever country you're from.

I'm a 27 year old war vet, who served in Afghanistan. 1) Mr.Hildreth there is a reason for the lack of communication. And trust me its better off that way. 2) Miss Kruek, I hope that you never find out what war is like. It's unforgiving, war is not meant to be understood, it's meant to be fought. When I got home to Toronto, I spent about 4hrs starring at a rose in my garden, I was mesmerized, in that moment I was convinced I found perfection. Good Luck!

Right on man. I hate when people try to get publicity and money off of "war-related" documentaries. Nobody except the people involved will ever understand the repercussions of war. And if they really want to know what it's like to be a soldier, then, by all means, enlist! Don't just sit back in your cozy chair and talk about how awful war is.

This topic is dicussed, but to have people in the public eye such as these guys to make a documentary would maybe get more people discussing it and therefore better communication between civilians and the soldiers. I am a nurse and I probably in the near future will have to take care of veterans so it's important to get this communication going.

The polotitions of today sit in their nice suits and snug chairs telling our soldiers how they're waisting their time over there, I think we should hear what the soldiers have to say. Do they think they've made a difference? My father is proud to say he did. Yeah, I agree with you. For the 5 million Kurds, the soldiers have made a HUGE difference. This is NEVER talked about on the news but the kurdish area of Iraq is like a whole other place. I've got family still over there and I went last summer, it's peaceful, safe, and a lot more Pro U.S and West then you see on tv. They're not blowing each other up or burning U.S flags, building are being made EVERYWHERE.

I am pleased that something like that interests you(Kristin). I have yet to watch Mark. I must say it is a surprise that the study of the effects of war on people would interest you. It is not pretty and can mess somebody up real well. This speaks highly for you. The Canadian Forces while not going in Iraq are going through the same thing. Please do not forget them if the G of C allows it. It can be quite rough when they come back.
