  • Of course it would HAVE to be the green one, that's the one I'm going for.

  • to bad fuckin ford didnt sell it in the us

  • Wouldnt mind a HD version of this review!

  • Ford had a chance to make this the ultimate kickass ride by giving this 4WD but they're just stuck on this whole FWD thing. SMH. iHate that.

  • i cant understand why these dont have 4WD! its just fucking insane.... same with the rs 500 :P just retarded ...

  • @superford500 Hey I FINALLY drove one of these today, in ultimate green with leather seats.

It absolutely does not need 4wd. I don't know what ford have done but it is very, VERY prone to oversteering at cornering speeds higher than 60km/h

The crazy thing is, it will slide with ESP still on!!!! My focus wont let me slide at all unless i turn it off.

2nd gear powering out of corners, no wheelspin, no fuss, just grip, grunt and nooiiiiiiiiiiiise!

  • @TheHedberg aight cool ;)

  • WANT THAT ONE!!!!

  • love it!

  • So funny when you see a 50-60 year old guy driving a car like this just to show they got a sportscar

  • 800hp???

  • @Boss187ooo 300hp

  • True RS would still be 4WD... I still like the Focus RS though.

  • @linn1000 Yea I would like to know too.

How is the build/material quality. If its like Toyota or some shitty Honda, forget about it!

  • Powered by Volvo ;)

  • @Plywalker indeed,but actually Ford owns Volvo

  • @CSBoY007 Ford hasn't owned volvo for couple years now. Check your facts.

  • @Leonidae things have changed,i guess...

  • ford FTW. my dream car. it actually does tourqesteer but only a little. and the rest of what he said about the handling is true :)

  • lmao and i quote, a very serious machine...

  • I have a green one and it does torque steer... but not so much that it's terrible or anything.

My previous rear wheel drive car was more of a handful (similar performance)

  • Doesn't torque steer? Of course it fucking torque steers. Still an amazing car though ford did really well....

  • Please send me one in america, i'll pay you lots of extra pounds.

  • bth this sounds similar to my fathers 2004 Volvo s80 2.4 D5....yes, 5 cilinder diesel..

nothing wrong with the noise, it's great...but I'm just sayin..

  • Comment removed

  • Just a Inlet and a Remap? You thick twat. Its has Borg Warner Turbo, New Pistons, Rods, Cams, Intercooler etc.

Stop being such a Old man. Accept its a better car!!!

  • Damn, that car is sweet. I wish they made that in the US. Honda would potentially go broke if Ford did.

  • NICE VOLVO ENGINE FORD FANS HAHAHA

  • @TheDieselhead1 ford was smart with that

  • do you think if i bought a t5 volvo car i could achieve this kind of sound with some tuning? they are very similar engines after all... ?

  • Since they will probably never be available in the US, is the mazda speed3 close in terms of performance?

  • not awd? hella gay

  • stunning looking car; the Focus has always handled and steered well no matter which model.

    And they are reliable !!!

I want another one this one!

  • Got one now, it's stunning.

  • Its a lovely car but for £27k? Bit mad innit. For less money you could have an S3 which is quicker on the straights because of the quattro. Won't be as fun to drive of course but then it's an Audi so the build quality will blow the RS out the water. (ave u seen the interior? it's still a focus)

  • The price of this car is £28,000

  • Can we please get these in Canada... please..... please?

  • @lowfiwhiteguy

this car is not available for n.america

  • @crazyfabio1 obviously not, otherwise why would I be begging for it?

  • I want to take this car to bed!!!

  • Nice car with a nice Volvo engine !

  • very nice car and good review on it, well done

  • hey the steering on that one is on the right side!!! bring it to America!!!! me want!

  • Taking one of these for a test drive in a few days (in green) should be a experience

  • ilibasic

He says 324 Foot pound torque...this coverts to 440Nm..he had his facts striaght.

  • these car's are realey scary fast. but the garage that mess with your break's and other thing's to earn moor £££££ so you come back for M.O.T TEST. or kill you and other's so the claim solicter's can make money to reduse future cost's for the fat cat's

  • Just look at it- an animal

With that spoiler, diffuser, vents on the bonnet, big sideskirts: Just

like the old homolgation specials :)

  • that car is stunning.........in green

  • it doe's not have 324nm it have 440nm m8 :) get your facts straight

  • This guy doesn't know what he is on about at all.

    1) they STILL torque steer, (not near as bad tho).

    2) the ride is hard and not 'amazingly comfortable'

    3) they are £27000 base model price

    3) I STILL want one, brilliant car!

  • This thing is great!! i can highly reccomend it!!! not that i've got :-( one but a friend of mine just bought one and it's just fu"&çing awesome... i own a mazdaspeed3 so i'm used to handling a little bit of power, i would trade mine for one of those in a heartbeat.

  • Ford have always been the best for value, quality and fun, the rs models have allways been amazing, i would give anything for that car. GO FORD!

  • AMEN!!!

  • @bellkxboy i'm assuming you have driven one then?

  • @barrythemoth oh yeerrrr Im lucky enough to work in a showroom :-)

  • Mo Fo it sounds like nothin else.... I really want it.

  • i love the white. but i cant buy one. i live in the states. sucks. fords loosin alot of business. wtf??

  • I just been to my ford garage and i think, no wait, im sure that im going to buy him :) But in Frozen White, i love white :p

  • im glad that the revo knuckle steering makes it understeer less but i cant help it when he say "it doesnt torque steer" ? is he blind? look at top gear's version of the road test of the same car.. it torque steers too much!

  • I've got the RS in Green and I absolutely love it. Like what the bloke in the video says, you plant the throttle and the car just sticks to the road like glue. I love the torque throughout the gears. I had an ST before this and it suffered a lot of understeer and you felt the grip go on chicane corners. The RS doesn't suffer this problem. It is so much smoother to drive. Definitely worth the 14 month wait!

  • so this cars coming to north america nest year (2011)???? someone tell me

  • Why FORD always brings to the production of the new RS series out shortly before production of the new FOCUS 2010?? Not good.. .I whant to buy but i dont give my money on an old model In just go out the new. Too bad.

  • Erm, tooling costs, marketing data, public reaction.

  • whats the year and the price ?

  • its 2009 and about 34000

  • ???????????????????????????????!

  • great car...

  • Best new hot hatch around by a mile....This car is a work of art and is a true RS!!!!

  • @dragster172 Escort Cosworth is a true RS, 4WD and with a Cosworth engine. This is front wheel drive with a VOLVO engine, far from a true RS.

  • @TheDieselhead1 You really think a car is just a Engine? The RS Engine is far from a Volvo engine anymore. If there is anything thats still a Volvo its the Gearbox.

The RS handles better than any Volvo. Faster than any production Volvo and is MORE of a Car than a Volvo.

  • @syxxsyxxsyxx "The RS Engine is far from a Volvo engine anymore. If there is anything thats still a Volvo its the Gearbox"

It uses the engine out of a C30 T5R (227 bhp - 236 lbs-ft torque) and has a different inlet manifold ECU to give it the extra 70 bhp and 60 lbs-ft torque.

"The RS handles better than any Volvo. Faster than any production Volvo and is MORE of a Car than a Volvo."

I think you will find the 850 T5R is quicker than a Focus RS too. Stop talking shit, you know nothing.

  • @TheDieselhead1 Just to add the 850 T5R was only 250bhp. Quick off the line as it had 4WD but to 100mph the 850 T5R is way behind the Focus.

  • FWD?? Why did'nt they make them AWD??:(

  • You are talking about the same thing

  • not enought power-weight

  • I'm with you on that. My RS4 was still underpowered.

  • because that is too much expensive, and ford didn't want expensive sport car, but this is still best FTW hatch...

  • to prove that it can be done

  • Wow, it looks pretty sexy in white. A lot better then the day-glo green. I still think the Blue with some bronze wheels would be killer.

  • yes this was T5 volvo engine, was the one fitted in the volvo touring cars of the 1980,s giving the rs500, sierras a hard time, if im right, it sounds AWESOME, ps when i say fitted i mean a varition or of similar design,

  • volvo t5 engine

  • All the US hype right now is up in the air. There's been rumors of them getting here around 2011/12. Who knows, but if Ford doesn't bring this to the US I will be EXTREMELY disappointed in them.

  • no they arent exporting these to the us but funny enought they are coming to mexico!!!

  • All I can say is lets focus on the Focus!

  • this may be a stupid question, but are these things coming to the US?

  • it's suppose to come to the us either at the end of this year or next year, but the rs trim of the focus wilol not come to the US sadly, i want the rs to come to the US

  • Dont they come as SST's or something? Seen a few older ones in Florida. (im in UK)

  • Seriously considering one of these!

  • Autocar really do hire some monkeys... Turbo charged like the ST24? i dont remember the Mondeo ST24 having a turbo? hahaha its just a Focus ST... 24 is the Mondeo ;)

  • mate whats this guy been smoking? they do torque steer, i test drove one the other day.. it dosnt torque steer much, but it is there

  • this is strange, why are these comments not attachin themselvs?

  • Easy way to settle your disputes, I own a new Focus RS, in Blue, My friend Has a brand new Golf GTI, both very fast hot hatches, we raced them from Sheffield to Dover, I won in the RS (we never used motorways) but only by 7 minuted

*minutes, on the tightest roads, his GTI actually went through the bends a bit faster than the RS, but as soon as fast bits came, the RS smashed a Boxster S and a 350Z out the way, so, there you have it

  • Shit Fucking presenter...great car.

  • "A very serious machine" ..but the golf gti smashes it still? tut tut ford..

  • i miss my svt focus :(

  • More than the TPZ Mastodon?

  • good car, thinking about trading my ST in and know what people mean about the RS badge, should have been 4wd but as capito said, they wanted to make a profit with the RS this time round., so not feasable.

On another note, this guy is well boring, who chose him to do the writeup. Better if he didnt speak at all. lol.

  • and maybe one day you will own a cherry thats been popped!

  • a wonderful car it no doubt is ,but it does not deserves to were the rs badge, why? well because it is fwd,and if anyone thinks i am wrong then just wait till m sport develop this car for wrc rallies for you can be sure it will be 4wd ,were as the customer has to put up with fwd, ford must think we are all idiots

  • so you're saying that because it's not 4wd or rwd it's not a proper rs?

it's fast, it's stunning to look at, it's glorious to drive. it's a proper rs.

  • well you tell me then why malcom wilsons m sport will convert all the focus rs cars to 4wd for wrc,in case you didnt know RS stands for rallye sport ,not race sport, this car may be great on a track but put it on a rally and it would be useless, which is why they get converted to 4wd,so there for it is not the ultimate ford,it is not a rally car, when it leaves the factory so it shouldnt use the term rallye sport

  • Sad twat, get over yourself. Its a top car. Why are you upset over some badges? Anorak?

  • wait till i tell you something i have probably had more RS CARS ,than you have had your end away,so if you havent got an argument to put across then dont waste my time,

  • dont let things like this upset you, you should put your worrying into more important causes....like getting your end away. It will happen one day ha ha

  • yeah and maybe one day you might own an RS

  • Does that mean rs turbos dont deserve the rs badge? RS2000? FRST? How many ford RSs are front wheel drive and how many are four wheel drive? Idiot

  • idiot? first of what does RS stand for,it stands for rallye sport , look just cut out all the bullshit ,put this car in a rally with the same drive train as it left the factory and it would be a joke ,but idiots cant see that ,this car when it is sent to malcolm Wilson's m sport will be converted it to 4 wheel drive can you not get your mind around that,so it ain't the ultimate ford ,and that says it aint an RS

  • Thats not what i said, i didnt say that it wasnt going to be converted to 4wd, yeah it probably is. I asked you if you knew how many other ford RSs were 4wd. There are more fwd RSs than there are 4wd and basically what you're saying is that all RSs that arent 4wd dont deserve the RS badge. The RS 1600, is that not a 'real RS'. Thats 2wd

  • any 4wd cars that ford made were based on rwd cars with the engine in the north south configaration as rwd is the way any good car should at least be,why you only have to look at the world most succsessful competion car the mk2 escort,if it had of been fwd they would all be in the junkyard 30 years ago,the fact of the matter is that ford are a bunch of cynical cheap skits that wouldnt offer the genaral public a 4wd car because it would cost them to much, and it would eat into there profits

  • wake up time, are YOU going to put this car in a rally, front wheel drive or four wheel drive? the point is, they don't have to be the same as the rally car, this car is better with a very good front wheel drive transmission than is is with a heavy, complicated four wheel drive. these guys dont just make a car willy nilly, they test all the possible transmission combo's and they found that this is the best, for driving and for budget aswell. it's better to be a technology advance than a lemming

  • what are you talking about, this car is better with fwd than 4wd better for what, for rallying i dont think so ,if it was the weight of the 4wd why not make it rwd,and what is that supposed to mean am i going to put this car in a rally, you say that as if ,you know me,any way people will put these in rallys but they will be 4wd,if they dont have to be the same as a rally car then they should not carry the rs badge,as in case you dont know RS stand for rallye sport as in rallying

  • missed the point by aeons. this car is a ROAD car, say it slowly, ROAD car.

R-O-A-D car. rallying no longer requires that the rally cars must be fundamentally the same as a rally car, atleast not in the WRC and S2000 category. so, the point of this car is to go fast on the ROAD. Long black thing, yannow? 4WD maybe good on gravel, but its too heavy for tarmac, and the main reason for 4WD is traction, and this thing has got similar levels of traction when compared to an WRX impreza. the end.

  • listing you don't have te spell things out for me in your ignorant manner,,you are that stupid you cant even see what you said, you said this car is a road car ,then if its a road car it should not say rallye sport or RS on the back off it,as it is not built for ,to be used in rallying its as simple as that, and you mentioned imprezas well at least the japs don't try and Palm people of with something its not,oh and bye the way i have had more RS CARS ,than you have probably had cars

  • RS is a style of car, not intent or purpose, as in american Rally Sport, wich has nothing to do with rally, just a style besides, this car has tech from the rally car, with the adjustable knucke and the diff fron the Puma S1600 and Escort kit car (F2) wich used to have 260-300 hp in tarmac spec. not all is rally, but it's still a Rally Sport. mate, i used to drive a ford escort, mk2, and the old RS Focus. yes i agree that back then, rwd is king. but, this is 2009, not 1979. times have changed.

  • Why can't you get past the fact that this is a ROAD car! Not a car for professional rallying, not meant to be transformed into one, it's a car for the street. I think Ford knows what it is doing and the RevoKnuckle technology seems to have proved that.

  • PorscheGTthree:

True what your saying man, but the RS modell is a rally car. But not the ones they sell in shops, they are for street.

  • Nothing can beat the sound of a 5'r and with some modified cams and exhaust, the sound is unbeatable!

  • Great car! But i almost fall asleep listening to this guy..

  • fuck mate, reminds me of the presence of the cosi escort. only if they made thid 4wd fuck you got a evo killer right there.

  • Yeah, I wonder why Ford didn't make a Focus RS Cosworth. But, this RS is awesome! xD

  • 5 cylinder??? wtf???

  • it´s got a volvo´s 5 sylinder turbo engine

  • We have proper handling in our Fords in the UK not vomit inducing soft wallowy Yank tanks - even our Focus ST would blow yours into the weeds - long live the 5 pot , they sound fucking mind blowing .

  • What an awesome car, sounds like an Audi Quattro UR too!!!

  • Check your ears!

  • looks more like the ford focus wrc car lol its nearly got the same power

  • why is it that ford releases an awesome car like this in europe, but not AMERICA?!?!!? its an american car and we cant buy them here! wtf?

  • its based on the wrc car wich u dont have coverage or an rallys of over there either

  • its not an american car at all, america owns ford but not the department that designs the rs and st modles! thats why the focus st (as known in uk) is called the xr5 in america and australia. if it was american this car would be terrible!

  • fuckin hell thank you brother im sick of these american fucktards calling it "their" car!! we been making rs for around 40 years and the only thing that will happen if they import it to america is they will fuck it up! the rs brand will be finished if they do... impreza anyone? f##k u americans and post more comments on other videos, maybe it will get throu to their thick cheaseburger eatings heads!

  • its not american u fuktard!

  • I agree with you, wish we could get it here in Canada as well. The reason they won't bring it over is because 95% of Americans would not understand this car and the Focus name in NA is synonymous with "piece of crap". Ford Europe is a very different beast, it's actually good unlike the garbage they build for the NA market. I will say however, the cars in NA are getting better, more European influence but I will stick with the best hot hatch available in NA, the VW Golf GTI.

  • @NegerKim then you are a nut case. this car also has a nicer interior

  • I responded to the comment regearding the VW Golf GTI ffs... Oh, and choosing one car over another solely due to the interior is just plain retarded.

  • rofl. I like the way it doesn't understeer at all he says, but at the very end, what do we see? Yes, you guessed it! UNDERSTEER!!!

Outstandingly awesome car in every way, even though it IS basically a road-going rally car. It's just bonkers! Good job, Ford. You've done it again.

  • Yes it understeers, but only because there was water right on the apex, plus he was coming too fast. Overall, it's a bad ass car, fantastic looks, fantastic sound that reminds me, dare I say, of the legendary Audi S1. I kind of regret for having bought my car last year cuz if I didn't, this would have been the one I'd having for sure.

  • to bad it's not in america. that car is hella tight. i love hatchback focus's. that one would be tight with a 351w in it.

  • in italy cost 33.000 euro is not so much or no???

  • Sweet!!!

  • wow this car is so good i have a mazda 3 mps is very good car ....but ford is much better is amazing the body the engine the power the interior with recaro seats this car is a dream .........

  • SOLD im importing one now

  • if they think it goes faster from 0-62 and 0-100 they should test how fast it goes, damn!

  • I agree with dariettodarietto, if the Ford Focus RS has 305 hp, they really should make it AWD. Then it can compete more with Subaru WRX STI.

  • AWD would just hamper it. The RS does not need AWD, as Ford has essentially mastered FWD with this vehicle, to the point that it has absolutely none of the traditional FWD drawbacks. AWD would simply add weight and cost.

  • Seems to be getting hard to compete with european engeneering...

  • damn, why wont they bring this car to north america??

  • There's a reason why you see almost exclusively Miata's, Honda's and Focus's at Auto-X events. It isn't because they don't handle well.

  • How, exactly, would AWD improve this car in any way, aside from being a nanny saftey net for foot-high snowdrifts?

  • lol i agree

  • Lots of reansons, it may weigh a bit more but you wouldn't get any torque steer, its 0-60 time would be faster, you could corner faster and it could put all the power down. Ford was going to put awd on it but decided it would cost to much, however it would of been worth it

  • Apparently you haven't watched/read a single review of the car, because the unanimous opinion is that it doesn't have any torque steer as it stands, nor any/minimal understeer.

0-60 could be offset by the extra weight, so that's pure subjectivity.

Corner faster? Based on what fact? AWD will understeer just as much if not more, unless you're talking about in the heavy rain/snow.

Putting the power down is not a problem, and if anything, it's the RS's greatest strength.

  • watched all of them, clearly you haven't cause most of them say you get torque steer, also awd does understeer your right however not as much as awd, ive had 2 cars the same and 1 was fwd the other awd and the awd was by far better, and by the way my friend has one so i know

  • It wasn't just the cost.. it would have added about 100kgs to the overall weight as well, which would blunt the performance even more.

  • It's an European car. NOT American.

German engineering. And the numberplate should begin with SLS(Saarlouis), not with K(Cologne). All new focus are build in SLS !!!

  • american car not available in U.S ???? im from canada but still thats funny, it sohuld be availble first in U.S and Canada, then the rest of the world!

  • its not an american car..

  • It's not an American car dude. Its a German car with a American badge on it. None of the American engineers had a hand on it. It was designed, researched and developed entirely in Germany.

  • fuck yeah breh!

  • bring to the states

  • The engineers of this car must have been the ones fired from BMW/Audi.... probably the ones who recommended making an

    X5m haha.

Ja Hans miene next great idea ist to maken eine front wheel drive mit eine v12 twin toirbo unt ach Ja!.

Stupid Chav car.... it maybe good to drive, but they clearly could have made it so much better with a rwd/awd setup.

  • too bad these arent in canada, i'd love to have one over my 09 focus!

  • Build in Saarlouis / Germany !!!

    I`m working there.

  • german numberplate????

  • love this car

  • IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • I don't want a Ford Mustang. I WANT THE FORD FOCUS RS!!!!!!!!!! I want to go race against those Subaru hatchbacks.
