I never though about it until now, but it's weird how not even Robo considers what his son might be feeling about seeing his dad's face on cyborg du jour.
well acted and complex scenes, it was sad when they try to make Murphy believe that he´s a machine and he can´t love... a memorable scene too bad the rest of the movie wasn´t that great ¿why Verhoeven didn´t directed this? ... he should be directing the new Robocop 2010 project...
@ciberiaopcom they didn't try to make him believe he was a machine. They wanted him to realize he was putting his wife in pain and duress by showing up in her life. They know hes really alive but it was the legal temperament hes in being a property of OCP. Robocop like most cyberpunks are commentary of 90s consumerism. They used him emotionally to waive his freedom so that his wife could move on. He never believes he is a machine and they know it too.
OCP never cared about Murphy's wife. They just didn't want the world to know that Robocop is not a machine, but a human mind in a robotic body. It could lead to the scandal.
Imagine if in our world that the pharmaceutical corporation was cloning humans, and the world learned about it.
Unreal, Hob fires a Desert Eagle like it's a 22 targeting pistol. That'd probably send that kid flat on his arse from that position. Poor Murphy, always getting the short end of things. After watching these movies I know why they call it "Murphy's Law". Good grief
well.. physically he's like 95% machine.. the only "human" parts he has are his face and his brain.. but having a human brain is what makes him different than a simple machine.. he has memories of his life and can somehow feel emotions.. have a conscious.. so physically, yeah, a robot, but it's his mind that still makes him human..
So, at the end, is Robocop still a man, or is he totally machine? I have seen the first Robocop movie once, years ago, and I barely remember it. Yet, seeing this, I believe I recall thinking, as a kid, that Robocop was still human...
I can't see why you have negatived his opinion. If he thinks its better then, thats what he thinks! You don't have to start going on about how bad 3 was. If I said 3 was good, would you start giving me thumbs down?
Her Only appearance was here. It was Anne Louis (Murphy's partner) who died in Pt 3. They kinda tried to do a follow up on Pt 1 I guess, & Pt 3, I dont know 'bout that ......in my opinion, Pt 1 is still the very best.
I seen it wen i was like 8 and wel at the time.... scary shit wen {__?__murphy} gets nearly killed with shotgun and wen robo gets stripd (pt 2}. I dont think i seen the 3rd one....? was it about his son or sometin???
Actually Pt3 was a diff storyline altogether. The City was broke (I assume) OCP was for Sale & the things were changing, Cops became terrorists, there had 2B a distinction btw good & bad cops, I saw it only once, didnt enjoy it much. Murphy's son hasnt featured in any of the series. The Strippin of Robo (in Pt 2) kinda turnd my stomach. I was a teenager when I first saw Robocop. I liked is so much I watched it several times till I memorized the entire movie.
No I havent heard anything like that. 1 was such a huge success, I wouldnt be surprised if they try another shot. But I'm addicted 2 Peter Weller (the original Alex Murphy) & I'm still tryin to adjust to the new Alex Murphy replacements.
some people think that shooting robo in the mouth will kill him. it wont! he will only get his mouth skin ripped off and look like a terminator. am i right?
Great shot at 8:42. The bloodied hand of a dead child, adorned with a tacky gold pinky ring, surrounded by money. A wonderful metaphor for where our country was headed then and still is today.
I was one of the bastards that wanted the kid to die for all that shit that he did to Abel. FUCK YOU HOB YOU SMALL PIECE OF SHIT! YEAH!! I salute RoboCain for killing him.
gabriel damon fucked up the movie.for christ think about this? kids using firearms? must joking specially if the kid used a desert eagle what in real life he cant control the recoil of the gun.
robocop is a great movie.Althought Robocop is a robot but Muffily is a human he "Dead " lost everything of human just memory. However OCCP just to see a goods for the govrnment.
These scenes, in conjunction with the suiciding prototypes, are really what the movie may have wanted to be about: The practical implications of being a cyborg, expecially in a human world.
This movie says allot about Murphy's psychology because he is able to withstand this, which obvioussly most lesser men CANNOT, which is why they almost all endup blowing their brains out.
Though I think Cain was handled slopily; we know little about his background and he says nothing about his immortality.
Wouldn't you rather be a cyborg? o.o' There's a difference. Cyborgs are human; they just have mechanical implants in/on their bodies so as to compensate for lost limbs, or even to enhance their physical strength.
But lecture aside, being a cyborg would be cool. (:
Hey, you're right--RoboCop is a cyborg.I had a feeling I used a different word--androids are actually fully artificial humans--like Terminator >:) I agree, if I could have bones of steel, awesome
Hah, well he Wolvie was the inspiration for my steel bones as well as Terminator, well I think healing powers would be quite convenient too. I would be Terminator/Robocop with guns built in and healing powers! VOOM
This scene makes no sense continuity wise...Lewis clearly explained to him in the first one that his wife moved away and started over again after Murphy was killed. It's like the people who wrote the scipt for '2' never saw the original
I agree. The scenes in the first movie in which Robocop tries to remember his family and says, I can see them, but I can't feel them is far more powerful than any of this. It almost becomes corny, or TV-movie like.
RoboCop 2 was in fact a great movie, yea most people didn't get the point. But as for RoboCop 3? It was a shit-fest. I mean they even toned down the violence so little 13 year old brats could come see the movie with their parents.
"They made this...to honour him...your husband is dead..I don't know you"
That must've been pure heart piercing for him to say that to his wife...sure he's a machine, but still he could at least let her know he's alive regardless of his appearance. :p
I heard that his face is actually pure endo skeleton like Terminator. They (OCP) remade his face so he doesn't go crazy when he looks in the mirror. Of coarse you can't find out the truth about this kind of stuff but yeah just letting you know what I read on the internet somewhere.
That is a tough call, they have their advantages and disadvantages. Terminator is leaner than robo and thus slightly more mobile. But robo might be a bit stronger, especially as t-800's are mass-produced (granted they are produced under a resource-based economy since SkyNET cares not for any monetary system, so who-knows, and SkyNET is probably discovered a few tricks to increase metal strength, remember it experiments with alloys to create t-1000 and t-x).
@psychomyke2008 thats the point of the scene. He had to admit he was a robot so that she would move on because he wanted to save her the pain of trying work through him being still alive.
The scene in this film when they cut that guy open must be one of the most violent torture scenes in history, i dont think any woman would actualy be able to watch a guy having his belly sliced open like that
i think that his face is organic. murphy got finished with a shot in the head. the scar is there, so if they recreated his face, the scar shouldn't exist.
That dirty company OCP probably wanted to earn more money and they thought that if robocop reunites with his wife and son that would bring the downfall of OCP.
The beginning of this video says his "ex wife". Alex Murphy/Robocop never divorced his wife and so thus she remains his widow and not his ex. A minor point, though, thanks for posting the video.
I love robocop, but i'm a big fan of the first movie. Robocop 2 it's not that bad, but what can you do when they get different director & writers & peter weller made robocop good he did a good job in robocop 1, he's the best person to play robocop & he has the voice for it 2
