@TheElectricnoob The Behringer was driving the subs, and the Cerwin Vegas were on a 100W per channel amp at the time. Now they are on a QSC 1500MX at 330W per channel.
@Maxxarcade Oki. I build amplifiers from scratch which range from 5-100W per channel into 2/4 ohms, but i am slowly working on a monster that will push 500 watts peak into 4 ohms.
@TheElectricnoob It's always good to start small. The downside of doing DIY high power stuff, is that if something goes wrong, it usually ends up blowing a lot of expensive output transistors :-)
@Maxxarcade My remedy to that is using a weak low current power supply for first tests and when its confiremed working properly i hook up the proper psu. So far only three projects have failed, one due to faulty driver transistors and one that ran fine for almost a full day and then just spontanously died, probably due to counterfeit transistors from ebay. and the last one due to HF oscillations from touching the input.
@Maxxarcade this is what I'm afraid those cerwin vega's are going to do....but to my neighbor's apartments! Scary thought that my 70's 2 way stanton Dynaphase 60 DJ headphones and headphone amp give me a realistic impression of what it was like to be in that room, had to turn the volume down, the bass was assaulting my brain! Awesome stuff.
@grassulo It was hard for me to stand in front of the speakers, even with the CV's only getting around 80 watts at the time. The speakers are also in the next room, facing away from this one, and are going through a 12 inch wall and a bunch of other stuff. I'd like to get a better sub amp, and rearrange everything to a better position soon.
Put that powerful speakers behind the window and turn the volume up to 100% and play Bass I Love You or the THX Ultimate Bass Test and look what happens to the window, will be broken in 1 minute I think :D
Nice, It's like an Excursion sound off except with a house not a car, Would have been nice to see the house from the outside, windows rattling & everything!
nice set up but bass is not a sign of a good rig its how loud it can go and play cleanly you're bass is distorted so the speakers cant handle the power you're pushing though them.
my system has 1,500 watts total power but it plays very cleanly no distortion at all even at full power but i also use pro grade pa monitors for my speakers.
you would love my rig 4 Cd players 2 turn table's 2 cassette decks and one high end pro VCR use i use that for the video's i run with some of my songs.
I heard a few bits and pieces falling down, but I couldn't work out what they were, very amusing. I know a friend told me he once turned up the stereo in his bedroom loud enough to make a picture on the wall start rattling and his brother did the same thing, his music was loud enough to cause the CD player to start skipping all over the place.
nice! I'd love a system like that; I once turned up my hi-fi to the point where one of my speakers came crashing down off the wall, even though it was held on with 4 brackets. :-)
I had to put lips on all my shelves so stuff would stay on :P I use my system like all day and i was sick of the crap falling from my two Yorkville Elite 18's
@poopooGarret I eventually want to put RCF L18P400's in these boxes to replace the L18P200's, and get a QSC RMX4050 or similar to power them. I hate having limits LOL.
@Maxxarcade I dont know whats in mine :P never opened them.. I have a 1200 watt Peavey amp on them now and it kills the house, and I know the guy I bought them from was using a 3000 watt Yorkville on them, I did notice brand name amps work allot better then... well the one one your using right now, there stuff is bullshit (if you have ever cracked a good amp open you would notice) also my peavey amp is over 85 pounds... peavey aint the best sound quality wise but damn they sure work
@poopooGarret Ya, from what I have read on the amp I have, it is rated 500W per channel into 8 ohms, and only about 350W clean. One of my subs has an older style frame, and bottoms out at high power before the other one does. I can also hear the amp starting to top out around the same time.
I want to make this system loud enough that my clothes blow in the breeze from 20 feet away. Might take me a while, but I'll go for it haha.
head over to down4sound forum and grab some tunes from there, i watch alot of car audio channels, and alot of the songs played are from dj's that use that website, enjoy :)
@hitachi088 Haha ya, kinda hard to find stuff that doesn't get muted though. I should also have used sometrhing with bass lower than 50 Hz, since these subs are best between 27 and 40 Hz.
I recon if you play something like 'strobe - deadmau5' that system would knock down ALL OF THE THINGS!

@RCXDerp ok, I was a bit unsure of the spelling so i went with the pronunciation "base" as I've heard it being pronounced by american music artists.
