  • THIS IS AMAZING but I hate to admit it but you're playing it too fast. I know how good this is (I've learned this) but Scott Joplin specifically wanted the original speed to always be played and think we should follow his wish!

  • am learning it :)

  • omg just realized he's not using sheet music... like holy s**t man thats crazy!!!!!!!

  • Splendind

  • Im so glad i learnt how to play this song like that coz its such a great sense of accomplishment!! and i dont know how to read music i learnt it by ear...just saying

  • WOW...*_* I like it!

  • fenomenale che bullo... :D

  • dude!!! youre my hero, wow. this is one im dying to learn....!!!!

  • You know what ?? I've had this tune going around in my head for years and I didn't know what it was . But now I do .That's a problem solved for me . Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou .

  • this song makes me happy :D

  • I'm learning this right now!! Love it.. Btw you inspired me to learn it so thank you. You are a god at piano.... Maybe the piano god.

  • soooooooooo fast !!

  • Why the rush? patience, daniel-san

  • This is the tempo I hear in my head when this song is played. It just seems right. I agree with you.

  • This is a great rendition of Scotty Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag".Thanks ChocoTiger.

  • pffft... i couldn't play even if i had 10 fingers... i mean.. 10 hands. :O

  • this is the cooking mama background music...

    YOURR REALLYY GOODD!!!

  • @dannigirl010 you mean . . . it was used . . . in the cooking mama ~ as a bg . . . but, it will never be as an ost - bg for cooking mama . . . :3

  • Asian?i'm one too.

  • wow.

im only in first grade piano.

  • Sometimes I think I can play the piano... and then I watch videos like this. Well done!!!!

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • Outstanding!

  • Skips from 1:56 to 2;00?

  • Amazing! Beats Scriabin, Prokiev!!!!!!! I can do Chopin's "Butterfly Etude". In my dreams I can play Scott Joplin. This guy plays like an angel!! Thanks!

  • As always, nicely done!

  • man this is cool but its definitely not meant to be played that fast, I,too, have a tendencyto go super fast on this piece

  • at the end he just walks away like a badass

  • Asians are nuts dude. fuckin awesome! :)

  • YEEEEHHHHAAAAAWWW! *slaps knee*

  • Gah!! How is he doing that without sheet music? SO UNFAIR!!

  • Hi man! i love your video and i'd like to play that song by myself, do you know where can i find the sheet?.

  • @darochato

What wrong with "Maple Leaf Ragtime Sheet Music" + I'm Feeling Lucky?

  • @Volcatious Because searching for sheet music in Google yields up shitty results, not sheety results. it gives you a bunch of fake websites that some of them don't even have the sheet music, and if they do, they sell it for tons of money (even though they didn't even write it, and it's just a simple little PDF file)

  • @OmerPT

I really can't imagine it being that hard to find proper sheet music for this song.

  • a great job , great sounding piano

  • The tempo is too fast. It is faster than the original recording. However, your playing is excellent.

  • @MrTerrificII Shut up! If he can play it faster than he can obviously play at the original tempo too.

  • @Seanjon916

I feel it's harder to slow down, and keep tempo, than speeding up.

  • @Volcatious Indeed

  • Dude, you're fantastic!

  • beast.

  • bravo

  • whats with the 176?

  • 176 people with their volume not working

  • Amazing!!!

  • You rock that shit, bro

  • THIS IS THE KIND OF MUSIC THE CHILDREN OF AMERICA SHOULD BE EDUCATED ON PEOPLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dude your good at piano. :)

  • i am learning this song right now and i play it waayyy slower lol

  • Learning this now!! :D It is DEFINITELY NOT easy.. Great job!!

  • You are incredibly talented and this has inspired me to learn to play this song!

  • If you know how to play the piano, and that you want to play this so bad..but can't do it anyway.Dnt give up! When my teacher first introduced me to this song for our recital, I was like " IMPOSSIBLE, THERE'S NO WAY I'M GONNA PLAY THIS, PLS GET ME ANOTHER ONE"..but we used the piece anyway. At first it was shitty..i couldnt handle the notes which were complicated and that the tune was crazy, but after a few months..i could play it just like THIS GUY could! DEFINITELY, IT'S WORTH IT! DNT GIVE UP!

  • @graemmesamonte How experienced were you? how many years did you have at that time?

  • @EdieRoxUrSox15 i'm 16 now...and the first time i played this was when it was march this year...i played it in a very SLOW tempo..really, it was so slow that i thought it was not the same song but it was..if you can perfectly play it slowly, move on to a faster tempo until u reach your desired beat..that's what my teacher taught me..it was useful. TRY IT!!!

  • @graemmesamonte OMIGOSH really!?!?! I want to know how play this really badly, i would say I'm still amateur :( . But I'm gonna trust your words, and keep trying. Thanks!

  • @NikkiKanni Yea..I was once like u guys who wants to learn this so bad!...all u need is a little bit of patience. Make sure u dnt play it as fast as this guy could for your first practice, it can make u want to give up..GOOD LUCK!

  • @graemmesamonte oh man im on the third part ( 1:29) its out of tune and slow but i still keep trying ! :/

  • @graemmesamonte it took me about a year but well worth the time

  • HAH, I can play this! Eat my shorts Bitches!

  • OH MY GOD THIS IS STUCK IN MY HEAD! :3

  • great!

  • Wow. Playing a famous ragtime music at the right speed by memory? That is awesome!

  • I will not stop until I can play this!

  • That should, of course, be "Black and White Rag"!

  • @BigDoctorM vlack and white rag us a completely different song, ive played it

  • I really like the way you play rag time.

Have you considered playing George Botsford's "White Rag" for us?

    I'd love to hear it.

  • Terrific. Thanks.

  • This is not scott joplin!

  • @MrBowjingle scott joplin is in the title because its the composer of the song...

  • Hey thanks for your recent comment, and letting me "piggy back" onto this video...got me LOTS of hits. :-)

  • It's a Scott Joplin piece, not an Eddie Van Halen solo.

  • Amazing! memorized it too! :)))))

  • Insert coin *plays this song*

  • Excellent - I love this piece of music

  • Love this <3

  • i learned this in my music class

  • Great Fun to listen to

  • What another fantastically played piece

  • "Don't play this piece fast. It is never right to play ragtime fast."

    Scott Joplin

    Still, very nice. Congrats! (:

  • @Heitorsexy It's not TOO fast. Just right in my opinion. But you right, NEVER play Ragtime fast

  • Once again, absolutely love it! Brings me back.

YOU HAFTA TEACH ME HOW. PLEASE VISIT ME:D JK JK...

  • Well if you teach me, GOOD LUCK. (IM AN ABSOLUTE PAIN IN THE NECK)

  • I prefer it a bit slower but still nice playing :)

  • very good effort!

Your hands look like 2 happy crabs leaping about

  • that is exactly the tempo that Dick Welstood played it on one of his releases, VERY well done

  • IS THIS HARD.... COZ I WANT TO LEARN IT AND HOW MANY DAY DID YOU FINALLY FINISH IT?

    XORIE FOR THE CAPS

    :))))))))))))))

  • I think it sounds better a little slower, but that's just a personal stylistic thing, I'm very impressed by the fact that he can play it so fast. Just trying to play the B section at regular tempo is still a feat for me, so good job man!

  • why he needs food

  • I think you did an incredible job ! Bravo ! I like the up tempo .

  • I personally play this a bit slower, because it is a ragtime peace and should be able to fill in about 5 minutes, I think the uploaded Scott Joplin was made really fast because he couldn't afford to record for a longer period of time....

Messed up a couple times, eh...

It supposed to stop at about 2:45ish in the video, but I guess the improv was ok.

My personal favorite part is playing the second section, because it's so light.

Time to go play it now, still love it.

  • wrong tempo, nice try little asian man :)

  • @MrCMAN8 ony beacause you can't play in this tempo :P

  • Thank you for this! I just read something really scary, and this music made me so much more happy..THANK YOU

  • One of God's many amazing creations: the replay button

  • Scott Joplin would click the like button for sure, well done

  • Badass rag time ya got here.

  • with anyone else they can't keep the correct tempo but this is amazing

  • This is only one thing. The best thing. The thing that everyone of us love. It's what we adore. Nothing we love more. It's maple syrup! :P Nah just kidding. I love this music piece! And maple syrup lol. Thumb me up if you agree!

  • This is only one thing. The best thing. The thing that everyone of us love. It's what we adore. Nothing we love more. It's maple syrup!

  • This is amazing! Great!

  • 172 people are allergic to maple tree's

  • I learned how to do this!!! I need a better piano (mine is old and broken....) and a better camera and I'll upload mine. :)

    Scott Joplin FTW

  • @lauraandjamesjo4 The old pianos are the best. The wood is old growth and you can't get it like you used to. Try to have it restored if it's not too far gone.

  • @evilfreethinker I know they are really nice, but mine is like, REALLY worn out. The keys are dull and like I mentioned, some is broken beyond repair. I'm 13 and can't really afford to pay for the fixes. :)

  • 172 don´t know how to play Maple Leaf Rag :S

  • @MrMetsker Yes, 172 haters...lol.

  • @MrMetsker And you don't know how to write a good comment.

  • Hahahahahahaha

  • Fackin asiatics, they can do everything :P

  • Toooo fast!

  • Is this public domain?

  • all scott joplin music is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ╭∩╮(︶︿︶)╭∩╮ for the 170 people who disliked this

  • @Dungalitis08 WHOA HOW DID YOU DO THAT

  • I can say from experience, this is an extremely difficult piece of music to play. This guy has some major talent! A pleasure to listen to--thanks for posting!

  • I just finished learning this song recently. Definatley a great song for any experienced piano player.

  • This is absolutely great!

  • I loved your ending! Very well done :)

  • :)

  • so much more style when this guy plays it then the original recording of scott joplin

  • "It is never right to play 'ragtime' fast."

  • wow very good

(i think it is the most hardest thing you can play on a piano!!!)

  • I find one of the hardest things about playing ragtime songs is trying to find the right tempo.

  • how does this video have so many views?

  • @pearsnockie Because the Maple Leaf Rag is a popular piano song and this guy plays it wonderfully. How else? It's one of the first links you see when you search this song.

  • I love this song

  • This guy is crazy. I'm gonna learn this song just so I can be crazy like him

  • i can play along to this!

  • im gonna kidnap this guy and lock him up in a room with a piano and food so he can play to me

  • @John20Kevin lolz.. Ill kidnap him before YOU do! HA!

  • @puppyluver2317 ...Wrong Class for YOU O_O

  • @John20Kevin Damn! You beat me to it!

  • @John20Kevin Thats slightly creepy and disturbing... 0.0

  • excellent job. Please check out my version of the same song! THANK YOU. ID LOVE TO GET SOME SUBSCRIBERS GOING HERE!!!!

  • I keep watching this

  • Am I the only one thinking that this should be in Toontown? Not saying I play it. I mean, I used to, but not anymore. Anyway... cool song, bro. :D

  • Fair play man for learning the piece but like Joplin said himself, Ragtime should not be played fast and besides there's loads of note mistakes anyway so maybe slow down and go over it again.

  • this song reminds me of cooking mama, can't believe im saying this but yeah :D

  • Good job!

  • 9 out of 10.................You would've got 10 if you'd shut the lid when you finished.............ha ha,only joking,it was awesome.

  • @GBPaddling hahahah, lol

good one, u cracked me up :D

  • this is rag-time on speed!

  • Very good performance, led by the right spirit of rag-time. Bravo!

  • This is taking me forever to learn accurately, my hands are too damn small >:(

  • It is unreal but yet so real I love it where do you get your ragtime music!?!?!?!?!?!?¡¿¡¿¡¿¡¿¡

  • beautiful song

  • I listened to this song played by the composer and this guy is playing a bit to fast...

  • @soulsforchrist777 In the comments he tells that he plays it at the speed he feels it sounds best at. He's not trying to make a duplicate of the original.

  • @Hotshot2k4 I mean in the description.

  • Asians ARE best in piano.

  • THIS IS NOT FAST PEOPLE! It's perfect!

  • guys, maple leaf rag is set at march tempo. that means it's meant to be played fast.

but you know what keep telling pianists how to play a piece

  • How long did take you to learn this?

  • @lukeandrobby1 i did it in 4 months
