I bhought from the xl and there was only one mod I had to do. The blade that is in the center between the seats which controll the elevator cables is mounted on the side of the pipe. I opend the pipe and let the blade go trough the pipe instead, this way I dont have problems with interfirence of the upper bolt. you´l understand when u se the drawings. I can try to get a picture of it but I can´t promiss it.
I noticed you have dual controls on your plane. Zenith told me that they wern't available for the hds. Did you retrofit them from the xl. If so were there many mods to be done?
since I dont have an adjustable prop it will be a litle bit hard to experiment, I have already two propellers, one 62x40 and one 58x36. With the 62x40 i get 2800-2900rpm at WOT and a speed of 95-100kts. with 58x36 i get 3200 at WOT but I can´t stay there for ever and I lose 10-15kts in speed, I still think that the sodiac gives to much drag for this engine to manage.
Acording to sonex I should have 3200 +-200rpm at 75% thortle, that will never hapend if I dont have a smaller prop both dameter and pitch but then maybe the speed will be to less. maybe on sonex aircraft wich is more aerodynamic then the 601 HD. if I have had an adjustable prop everything would have been eaasyer.
In my opinion your are right. The problem is the engine is very small for that plane. You should try in the future a bigger engine, maybe the Jabiru 3300 or the Rotax 912 ULS. In my Sonex I get 250 mph at 3200 rpm with the AeroVee.
It's not the engine that's weak - you need to experiment with the propeller/pitch/length combination - try a 62 inch prop with 29 inch pitch turning at 3100 rpm
I´m getting between 450-670ft'/min alone and 300-500 two on board. the engine is to weeak for this aircraft, I cant develop the right rpm and the engine gets to hot on the rear right cylinders otherwise everything is ok.
Nice aircraft. I have the same but with BMW engine. Check my videos.

Well done! I am very glad you are in the air!. Congratulations, I am really happy for you. Ho many hours does the AeroVee have at the time?

what kind of rate of climb are you getting with the aerovee? how about with 2 people on board? Thanks!
