@Kingddd333 good one...The dude is trying to sell a guitar by saying the neck pickup sounds muddy ffs. he doesn't know what he's talking about, and you're either defending him or just being a fail troll trying to start conflict.
@MorbidHumanity666 Trolling? Come on. Just because I state my opinion doesn't mean I am trolling. How the internet goes these days. And maybe it is a bit muddy, or he just had a bad setting on amplifier [most likely that].
I have an original LP classic from the 90's, it is beautiful, fast and has such versatility UN it's voicings. But, don't be fooled by "this or that one's better" because all LP are just a step ahead than any other guitar. I'd take any LP given to me! :)
So, the Germans are to blame for the terrible setup job on today's Gibsons? Even the US-made models arrive in the stores needing another setup, and considering the prices Gibson charges nowadays, that's just not acceptable.
"The Traditional is more of a throwback from the '80's and '90's."
Oh, you mean they made it better than the crap they're making now? Not with those '57 Classics in there (I'll stick with my SH-55 Seth Lovers). I'm better off buying a used one from the late '80's-early '90's.
i like this guitar WAY MORE than the 2008 standard. the standard electronics are wired using circuit boards which is sort of the easy way to do it. the locking jack is a pain and the bursts don't even come with a pick guard. the les paul traditional is a way better buy than the 2008 standard
@PBANDSNOW Ya, I with qaws12321able, the Traditional is better than the standard. The 2008 Standard also doesn't have a pickguard. Although the 2010 MIGHT have a pickguard. but i'd still say traditional.
@PBANDSNOW yeah, there should be a visable screw, unscrew them and put them back on or your replacements, don't over tighten the screw, you'l screw up the guitar body them

@DiveBombs4Life this guy sounds marginally better than you do. I kill this guy on the guitar! LMAO!!! Your comment shows what a retard you are that you can't distinguish good guitar playing from bad. Speaking of being butthurt, you're the one that got your panties in a bunch over my original post, remember? ;)
@DiveBombs4Life LMAO!!! That's rich, someone who can't play to save their life judging someone who is orders of magnitude better than them. Your video showcases some of the worst guitar playing I have ever seen, if not THE worst. Also, get your facts straight, pixel dick. The plek machine is nothing new.
@seerattan I have heard both sides of this debate. I just remember that most of the old Les Pauls did not have weight relief drilled in. The old ones were heavier, and seem to be more sought after in the vintage market. If our open to a suggestion, check into Agile Guitars. The Al Les Paul are solid, heavier, but sound heavenly.:).pssssst. and cheaper too!
@myway43 i think you got your fact mixed up,70´´s and 80´´s gibson les paul are geavier cause of the wood the have, bad wood and those are not vintage guitars.50´s sunburst les pauls are the vintage ones and most are not that heavy at all,i had an esp kh4 and imagine it was alder body maple neck thru, and it had more sustain than most gibson les paul.
@seerattan It adds to the sustain so its really what you like.. Me i think im going to get a SG not as much sustain but light weight makes up for the back trouble.
Just played one of these at my local guitar store... I played the standard, the custom and the Studio but the Traditional is by far the best sounding and most comfortable.
Awful value though. I agree that the top dollar gibsons are amazing instruments, but for $1000 you are much better off buying a new Fender than a new Gibson. All you can get from Gibson is a Les Paul Studio. If you take that studio and hold it next to an American Standard Stratocaster (same price) you'll be throwing the Gibson out the door in a heart beat.
Ok, here's the deal. I see you are a strat man as i used to be. I have a fender american deluxe stratocaster with s-1 swtching system, BRAND spanking new that has less than 4 hours of play time on it, in two tone sunburst color. the guitar has not even been "Played in/Broken in" yet. I'll trade you for one of your less pauls in a herat beat, depending on the condition of your Paul. OR i'll sell you my strat, are you interested??
@PilotDoofy oh yes i completely agree, i just wanted a gibson so badly i was willing to pay top dollar for a gibson and yes i f i was handed a standard stratocaster and a les paul studio the studio and i could only have one i would have no problem in throwing the gibson into the trash
@kyleshut You mean knock OFF.But yes, copy instruments these days are FAR superior to those of yesteryear. Resonable p/ups, correct spec tonewoods etc & hardware. GOTTA be close to whats copied!
@ace69er you are right the kock offs are getting better but FEW of them are better then gibson and when im saying few i mean 1-2 out of a million gibson les paul are the master rock guitar :)
@kyleshut i agree i hate les paul studios its inpossiblr to do pinch harmonics on them also i would rather gave an les paul standad ipiphone than a studio gibson
The traditional is a Standard guitar without chambering. Heavier guitar. The models are "Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional Pro" and "Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional Plus".
Marshalls are expensive. But, once you have it you will not be able to play through anything else. I have the 100 watt Vintage Modern stack, and it is great!

The only people bashing me are keyboard warrior metal shred wannabes who can't play. You gotta learn to control that jealous rage, Simple Jack. ;)
@licmy3ballsby the way, since when does 2 people constitute EVERYONE? God you're thick. Honestly, how do you complete basic day to day tasks with all of that cognitive dissonance in your head? Also, do you think you're a badass because you have metal in your face, nappy hair, and tattoos? Maybe if you took a shower once in awhile and cleaned yourself up you could get a job one day and move out of mommy and daddy's house. I mean, you're 36 now...it's time to grow up, princess.
Thanks for the review...you look so much like Steve Stevens...
Agree with you, I prefer the LP Traditional over the 2008 Standard. I just wish they didn't come with the scratch plate attached. Why cover up such a beautiful finish? And once removed, you're left with the screw wholes. Though you can re-insert the screws, it looks a bit odd...still a great guitar.
Hey, nothing wrong if you're into the vintage vibe however, why cover up a lovely flame finish? Makes no sense. People are warmed to the LP flame tops and a pick guard is a piece of cheap plastic. The LP is arch topped so you have much less chance of the pick making contact with the finish.
I guess it depends on each person's taste. I've always been open to the pickguard as my dream guitar is a '59 LP (will have to settle on a reissue if I ever feel like spending that much).
Anyway, to be honest I think the only thing they could have changed is the chrome hardware. Nickel would have been a much better alternative in my opinion. They wanted vintage tuners, pickups and pickguard, why not nickel hardware?
Yeah, I've bought some Gotoh and Grover tuners and might replace them although drilling's need to widen the headstock holes. The Traditional however, has screw in tuners at the top of the head stock so I believe no drilling's needed.
Contrary to what this presenter says, Traditionals ARE weight relieved however, unlike the 2008 Std's the holes in the mahogany body aren't as wide and deep...I had a Gibson rep confirm this to me.
Yep, 9 holes throughout the body for weight relief but not chambered like the Standard. I think Gibson really missed the par with the Standard. I totally hate what they did to it. Almost everyone has said it doesn't have the sustain and resonance as an unchambered guitar. Not to mention I hate the new asymmetrical neck and the neutrik jack, who the hell needs that seriously? It's such a hassle trying to get the plug out of one of those things...
Nice guitar, but please tune before a demo.
ZenDriveSeven 1 month ago
resonance comes with a hollow guitar. The non-chambered body would increase the sustain, perhaps have a thicker tone. But mainly, sustain.

I'm very glad to own one. I find it's a better Les Paul than current Standard.

I love that wide red ring finish on that les paul reminds me of a pic I saw of clapton playing one like it in Cream

Hey Dude,
Thanks for the review...you look so much like Steve Stevens...

You make me laugh. What's wrong with the pickguard? Makes it look vintage.
aligind4h0us3 2 years ago
Hey, nothing wrong if you're into the vintage vibe however, why cover up a lovely flame finish? Makes no sense. People are warmed to the LP flame tops and a pick guard is a piece of cheap plastic. The LP is arch topped so you have much less chance of the pick making contact with the finish.
5150VanAlien 2 years ago
I guess it depends on each person's taste. I've always been open to the pickguard as my dream guitar is a '59 LP (will have to settle on a reissue if I ever feel like spending that much).
aligind4h0us3 2 years ago
Anyway, to be honest I think the only thing they could have changed is the chrome hardware. Nickel would have been a much better alternative in my opinion. They wanted vintage tuners, pickups and pickguard, why not nickel hardware?
aligind4h0us3 2 years ago
Yeah, I've bought some Gotoh and Grover tuners and might replace them although drilling's need to widen the headstock holes. The Traditional however, has screw in tuners at the top of the head stock so I believe no drilling's needed.
Contrary to what this presenter says, Traditionals ARE weight relieved however, unlike the 2008 Std's the holes in the mahogany body aren't as wide and deep...I had a Gibson rep confirm this to me.
5150VanAlien 2 years ago
Yep, 9 holes throughout the body for weight relief but not chambered like the Standard. I think Gibson really missed the par with the Standard. I totally hate what they did to it. Almost everyone has said it doesn't have the sustain and resonance as an unchambered guitar. Not to mention I hate the new asymmetrical neck and the neutrik jack, who the hell needs that seriously? It's such a hassle trying to get the plug out of one of those things...
