I use sony vegas, and I started out with a project resolution of 1280x720 (720p resolution), once you've got that, just continue working, upload, and YouTube will detect that it is HD quality and will automatically show up with the "watch in HD" tab. If not, search it on youtube, there are lots of tutorials.

Well, the standard definition one is yea. The video itself isn't, so that means somewhere on YouTube's part, it screwed up. This version is done in 720p, so if you click on "watch in HD" it'll play fine (apart from the slow load time) in 720p without any audio issues.
