  • If you don't like him, you are simply not intellectual enough to understand him.....

  • People don't think so hard. He's a comedian. Go with the flow. Enjoy it for what it is.

  • Damn thats god awful miming which is actually good thing proves his integrity

  • @WhiskeySauce1 He's not miming the audio is just out of sync.

  • @WhiskeySauce1 He's not miming - the video is out of sync..

  • Love the one guy who got the 'LAND SOME' punchline and laughed loudly

  • @ 3:30-ish, the onslaught of 64th notes coupled with the rapid fire dialogue expressing complex ideas, all of which are in synch and perfectly delivered.....LIVE, by the way, is talent that is not of this planet. (not literally. its just great!)

  • holey crap!!! that guy is a lyrical freakin genius!!! I havent heard that song before. i hope its available elsewhere.

  • An epic, objective love song. :D

  • i know he says his wife is on his same comedy wave length but gosh.

  • @TheDeathofGrace there actually alot deeper meaning to this song then you think

  • @TheDeathofGrace well really when you think about it it's true. the whole notion of soulmates is crazy, and if he never met his wife and had his kid he would've met some other woman and had a kid with her

  • i know all his stuff is comedy but it actually sounds really good. this could go straight to cd.

  • why is he lip syncing?

  • @kissmine15 I don't think he is lip synching. He is playing with a backing track that contains drums, bass and backing vocals.

  • @superman1478 Still looks pretty funny.

  • @kissmine15 NAhh the videos audio is out of sync, Craig looks like that too

  • @kissmine15 he is not. the video goes off-synch

  • Tim Minchin is amazing.

  • I am available to sing this at weddings.

  • It's a little odd to have Tim behind the piano for this song. It's cool but I miss the wiggle :(

  • Tim gets confused laughs at the audience because they don't know what alopecia is at 4:10

  • Why did he have to sit at the piano? It's just not the same without the dancing...

  • This version had an extra line or two, Loved It. Tim Minchin rocks!

  • I caught Tim Minchin on NPR a few days ago, and I've just spent the few days watching every Tim Minchin video I could find on YouTube.

  • Tim on Craig?!!! This is like my three-way fantasy come true!

  • I can see why people maybe caught off guard with his comedy... but I love it! he's very honest and real. and that's why he's awesomely different. YAY TIM!

  • ... or a banana ... like that genetically engineered over time...

Nice but I prefer the natural timing not this americanised "GET IT DONE" timing of the song. America is far too industrialized. PS. I am American...

  • *sigh* Bring the voice up. Fire the sound stage engineers.

  • I wonder if Tim found US audiences as difficult as he expected them to be. Oh, he can't do the cute little dance when seated...

  • Tim Minchin is fabulous and from my city! :D

  • Okay, I just wanted to explain to the people hear who think the audience doesn't appreciate it that I actually think they do. I love Craig and I love Tim... Craig's show is hilarious and the audeince volume is never high, becuase they're always laughing.

  • It's a shame that this audience wasn't more appreciative, but if Tim's humour was for everybody, he wouldn't be as special as he is.

  • He's got the voice of an angel, play's the piano like a saint, but has the sense of humour of the devil. Love it..............

  • Very, very nice! But is there no interview following?

  • Tim reminds me of men trying to be logical in front of women. No matter what they say, they will always be in big trouble.

  • @sbalogh53 The implication being that women can't understand logic?

  • @Bragnanymous no, the implication is that no matter what answer a man gives a woman, he will most likely still be in trouble. Been there, done that... all my answer options were wrong.

  • He's to smart for this crowd.

  • @DwayneJKing Yes, I think you're right. It does seem mostly wasted on them. Too bad.

  • @DwayneJKing "He's too smart for this crowd" Exactly what I was thinking.

  • Too cerebral and subtle for Americans I'm afraid....

  • @GreenDistantStar It sounds like they found it funny, but okay, be prejudiced.

  • @Chillit67: No prejudice, just stating the obvious...

  • @GreenDistantStar They are obviously enjoying it. I love ppl like you who take any chance to hate on Americans just bc they are...American. He is touring the states right now so obviously he is not too "cerebral" for everyone.

  • @GreenDistantStar its a nation of 310million he only has to appeal to 1/8 of the population to be doing very well.

  • @brazilianirishcomedy: Excluding little kids, the demented etc it's likely a lot less that 310m/8. I like Tim, but I do wonder whether his humour is over the heads of most people, Americans or otherwise. That some saw my initial comment as 'prejudiced' I found amusing.

  • SOOO romantic.....I have a tear in my eye.

  • They need to get Charlie on this show. . . I do love Tim he's amazing and giving Australia a good name

  • I like the song, it's a nice version. But I really wanted to see Craig and Tim chat.

  • I'm pretty convinced this wonderful man looks like Robert Smith and Simon Pegg had a lovechild.

  • I probably watched this version about 100 times. Still doesn't get old.

  • Tim is the best. Absolutely brilliant in his ability to speak his mind through his work.

  • Comment removed

  • As much as I love the little dance he usually does with this song, it's awesome to hear him play some jazzy piano with it this time!!!

  • 6 people's love's... have somebody else.

  • 6 people dont get songs about math...

  • This guy is soooo hilarious! OMG! And so is Tim Minchin!

  • This was the very first time I've heard or seen Tim, and I became an instant fan. Looked him up and most of his stuff is really really good! I wish I could have attended one of his California concerts, just not possible this time.... Maybe have to fly to London to see his performance next time he is on tour.... And yes, CraigyFerg should have interviewed him, they would have made a funny segment on the show! Ferguson's free form would have been perfect for interviewing Tim

  • Cool to see this Tim perform this playing the piano :D

  • Who ever was mixing the sound for this programme, must be deaf. Why have the backing track that loud? The drum kit is loader than Tim!

  • hahahaha never heard of himbefore but this was pure genious and completely unexpected, he just got himself a new fan

  • He's just adorable. I really love his intelligent humor. It's just awesome.

  • 5 people fall with in a bell curve

  • OMG !! Tim on craigy !!! :D:D:D . (LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL...) He is one little mu.. :D

  • Tim is soooo amazing!! :)

  • You can tell the audience doesn't know Tim Minchin. That first punchline caught them off guard. The silence was hilarious.

  • Pure... Genius :D

  • He seems a little upset with something at the end.

Looks like he really wanted to sing his usual "motherfucking yeah" at the very end, but apparently he can't say that on the late show.

  • He's just brilliant! Saw him in New York and can't wait for him to come back! Can't wait for the DVD... Just can't wait for more Tim Minchin. He gives great interviews, too... hopefully next time in the US some brilliant talk show host will realize that. (wink wink nudge nudge)

  • He's just brilliant! Saw him in New York and can't wait for him to come back!

  • This song just gets better with each iteration.

  • He's coming to Austin, I'm getting tickets, I'm so jazzed. Gonna bring a few hundred virgins.

  • I wish he'd have met back in 1993 and I could be his somebody else

  • Seems odd having all the backing while he is at the piano. One or the other for my taste.

  • @chrisofnottingham hes prob at the piano coz its his first national US apperance. and he wants everyone that sees him to associate him with the piano and hes not just a singer. if ya get me :P

  • if i were his wife i would slap him

  • @MissMillieMenace i'd spank him ;)

  • Tim Minchin never fails!

  • and a banana :) lol

  • Awesome!!!!!!!

    My favorite Perthian ;)

  • whats with the shoes?

  • @nudge666 He never wears them to a gig. I have no clue why.

  • @Nebirias i know, i saw him in march with the MSO and few years back in 09 and he wasn't wearing shoes. i don't think the USA like people with no shoes on

  • @nudge666 You did? You lucky bastard!

  • @nudge666 - USA is ok with no shoes.

  • I drew him for a celebrity portrait, any recommendations where I should I post it?

  • my my... this must be a serious performance... Tim's wearing shoes!!

  • Tim... I LOVE you! :)

  • Perfect, :)

  • I LOVE YOU TIM

  • I hope he'll expand his tour in the States, if not this tour the next one. I can afford the tickets to the shows but not the travel to get to them. Frackin' gas prices.

  • Tim is a superstar

  • First time seeing him actually PLAYING this song.

  • i played this for my girlfriend... im single now.

  • @crisis610 thats why TIm is a hero. he played this song a lot of times and still got a wife.

  • @crisis610 - Awe, she clearly doesn't understand probabilities, that's a shame. I played this for my boyfriend, we laughed and decided we'd play this song at our wedding. XD

  • @crisis610 - then you're better off - obviously you didn't have enough in common - coming from a female being married for 13 years I love this song!

  • i love you tim

  • Tim Minchin sendt me here. This is the first, and only time I will say that.

And Tim, you are brilliant! I got to say I more or less love all his songs, an unique talent to make me laugh!

  • He is so sweet.

  • hes coming to chicago in june whos going i need people to go with ha

  • that was beautiful. he is so good at saying i love you

  • That was glorious. I need to find more by this guy...

  • @DavinSunrider - plenty out there - I think this is the best version of the song, personally.

  • Mmm. Neck down alopecia. That's the good kind.

  • Tim's gonna kick ass in America... i live in Perth, saw him here, and he puts on an INCREDIBLE show.... go see him!!!!

  • This video is awesome.

  • LOVE TIM MINCHIN :D songs are so funny and his expressions just add to it

  • since i saw this on craig a few days back i've watched it over and over and over and over again

  • The Minchin in N. America? YAY!! Finally. This guy is wit incarnate.

  • The only problem with this version is there is no imfamous Minchin wiggle :P

  • @musicmunkey68 imfamous? more like famously sexy! :D

  • This song delights me beyond what mere words could ever convey! "But I'm just saying, I don't think you're special; I mean, I think you're special -- but you fall within a bell curve." Ha ha ha, so rich and profound. And I actually would be touched if a man wrote a song like this to me. Probably reveals something rather pitiable about my character (namely, my dire lack of self-esteem?), but I happen to agree with the wonderfully humorous message of the song. And I find it quite romantic!

  • It's like Russell Brand and Bill Bailey had a child...

  • @caaaatchup My thoughts exactly! Cheers!

  • @caaaatchup

ugh, please dont compare tim minchin to russell brand

  • @caaaatchup How dare you compare Time to Russell dickfuck Brand!

  • @ecknareal they're completely different, but both hilarious. what's the problem?

  • @caaaatchup i've heard that before on a never mind the buzzcocks vid comment, he was on it

  • @caaaatchup or weird al

  • @caaaatchup That's exactly what my sister said the first time she saw a video of him!

  • @caaaatchup I was thinking Tom Lehrer and Billy Connolly.

  • @caaaatchup and kylie

  • @caaaatchup Thankfully he is not a cunt like Brand.

  • I can't believe I missed this.

  • you beautiful, beautiful creature ;) wahey! seeing tim at the apple cart festival in the flesh! anyone else going for him? xx

  • LOL. I kind of hate him for being so talented, good good singing AND being really funny!

  • Tim Minchin + Craig Ferguson

pinch me, I must be dreaming.

  • The name of this song is If I Didn't Have You. Didn't see it posted anywhere, thought some people might be looking for it..

  • yay! love tim and love craig!

  • Reminds me of Flight of the Conchords. :)

  • Tim Minchin is so amazing, the hair never gets old :)

  • Craig should've done an interview with him :) love it.

  • He reminds me of Russel Brand

  • (coming from a German) Who the hell is this guy? he's freaking awesome! Goota check out his other stuff :) Thanks Malinky!

  • suffers from neck down what?

  • @scorchbubbles

    alopecia.

    Its basically hair loss. ;)

  • I do miss the shimmies though :(

  • @cooldarren he does that to attract attention to his face while he's performing. He can't use his hands while playing the piano, so his act includes a lot of facial expressions, which you wouldn't notice without the hair and makeup. You should watch some of his other videos, you'll see how much he uses his face during his songs.

  • I love Tim, but the music is a bit to busy. Having both the piano and tape was a it too much for the ole ears. I'm sure he did it that way so people how have never heard of him would know he plays the piano, but I really think he should have picked a different song. Still, I'm glad the audence seemed to like him =).

  • I tried but...meh

  • I've heard his name before but have never seen him until now...he is pretty good

  • Tim, you are amazing as usual!

  • Love it...love it...love it....

  • The one day this week I finally got to catch Craig when it aired, and it happened to be the day Tim Minchin was on! Awesome performance (not his best, but great). I'm just disappointed he and Craig didn't get a chance to speak on camera.

  • I remember him doing this at the Brit charity event, few yrs ago I think. Love Tim. He is great.

  • This song isn't the same without his knee dance :(

  • I love tim but is he lip syncing here?

    something strange about it?

  • @markstruemind Uh no... There is a back-up track though for instrumentation other than the piano and backing vocals. Might've been a good idea to do something that didn't require a backing track, but Tim Minchin is great as always anyway.

  • His best recorded performance of this song :P

  • craig should have interviewed him. tim is a hero.

  • Tim, you HAD to come to Boston a month before I would be back there?!?! Curse you, you porpentine bastard!

  • Tim Minchin on LLS - AWESOME! Usually only get to see him on BBC America. Thank you so much for sharing! :)

  • this sound amazing, just watched hin perform this the night before in liverpool!!!! its just as good, but...theres no WIGGLE!!!

  • @THESTORMCOOPER I totally miss the wiggle!

  • @Punatik yeah, its amazing!! you should totally go see him when hes in america =)

  • @THESTORMCOOPER I would love to but almost no one comes to Hawaii. :(

  • An unexpected joy to see this on Craig last night. I had just got my tickets to see him in July yesterday morning. Confused by the "gay' comments. Why because he is profound and articulate- and wears eye make up? I guess if it's the eye make up and hair that troubles you all those American hair bands would also be considered as gay. Sad. And this song is about his wife....

  • danm he speaks/sings fast

  • brilliant as ever! :)

  • Nice surprise. We saw Tim last week in NY - LOVED IT! Tim, when are you sleeping??!

  • i demand an interview. wonder what kind of chemistry would there be between a minchin type and a ferguson type.

  • I LOVE Tim but this was a horrible performance. :(

  • @SyracuseHorn Remember this guy is traveling non stop, jet lag, unfamiliar piano/surroundings and an really shitty mic that kept picking up his breaths, gotta give the guy some slack, but yeah not his best but not his worst either

good luck in America Tim, lets hope you wont have to dodge to many flying objects

  • Where are his plastic bags?
