what govertment can do is to define a protocol (RFC) and specification, for all the machines. Then vendors can make different implementation of that. that can then be tested by another independent company or government.

Lou Dobbs mock indignation makes me laugh. What has he done in this primary season to advance freedom or the middle class except blow hot air from his cush job at CNN. Lou and his rhetoric hasn't endorsed the one guy who actually campaigns in the real world with the same message.
