Lucasarts are dumbasses after Free radical filed bankrupt they first wanted to give the contract to rebellion ( ok doesn't suck that hard) they declined

so they decided to give it to PANDEMIC!?????

but i disliked the first two because of their lack of realism and compared to the movies the sounds didn't match

the leaked free radical version gave me more satisfaction than the played versions of pandemic

As far as im aware, Free Radical has been renamed 'Crytek UK', and Timesplitters 4 IS still in development. HOWEVER, as far as I know, the rights to BF3 are still now in the hands of rebellion studios (or whatever the name of the comapany is that made the PSP version of BF2. Its that company)

The chances of BF3 not being completed are rather minor. The game may no longer be in FR's hands, but their will surely be more news soon. Perhaps June at E3. The facts show that if the spacetoground feature is the only thing lost and the leaked footage showed everything they have, all they need are a few more levels and character/vehicle models, along with proper AI to finish... I wish it was with Crytek Nottingham, but as long as the core is the same it will be good. If the restarted though..

I heard bf3 isn't at rebellion anymore (they only make ps2 vers.) and apparently it was never at pandemic. I hope crytek uk gets it so they can make that insane-looking demo/alpha/whatever into one sick game (with ground to space).

When free Radical was bought by Crytek back in December 2008, they lost the rights to make star wars Battlefront 3. The project may be taken over by Pandemic (makers of battlefront 1&2) or Rebellion developments (makers of Battlefront: Rogue Squadron). But it is unclear of who is taking what. Battlefront 3 was in development for 2 years, a longer wait is definatley inevitable.

Free Radical lost the rights to make the game in October 2008, because Lucasarts got cold feet over the game Haze that FR made and also since they heard rumors about FRD closing. And they were bought by Crytek in February 4 2009 and the company was then renamed Crytek UK. They can buy the rights back, but the statis of the game is unclear. As for all we know, this game could have been thrown in the garbage, but hopefully that didn't happen.

Yes, my mistake you are correct. Unfortunately Free Radical won't be working on this game anymore. They have no plans to go back to this game, it's a shame but I think LucasArts made a good decision by taking the rights away. I don't want this game to turn out HAZE or any other epic fail game that Free Radical made. But the gameplay looked pretty cool.

I don't think FR was going to make BF3 bad. The leaked video alone satisfied me more than the first two battlefront games. And looking at the leaked footage, it looked like FR was going for a multiplayer-focused game and an actual REAL campaign (with epic cutscenes) and not that crappy campaign that Pandemic gave us in BF1 and 2. Plus the ground to space feature. I mean pretty much all developers have made at least one unsatisfying game. If FR's work is kept in the game, then I'll be glad.

I agree, the gameplay looked faster-paced than the other battlefronts, and the new features looked awesome. But the ground to space feature Free Radical said that it was "dead". I guess they couldn't perfect that feature so they probably wouldn't have included that feature if they were still developing the game.

Yeah, though it would be revolutionary if they were successful in creating the ground to space feature. If this game is in fact with a different developer, they most likely will keep all of Free Radical's work in the final version of the game (minus the ground to space feature). I mean FR said they were just about done with the game, so the new dev would probably just have to polish the game up. But as long as all of FR's(Crytek) work is in the game and they get credit, I'll be satisfied.

I wish Free Radical would finish Battlefront 3, but Lucas Arts cut the deal before FRD went under and they've passed the project on to someone else. Plus FRD is now part of Crytek so if Lucas Arts wanted to work with FRD they would have to set up a new deal with Crytek. I just don't see that happening. Lucas Arts has made their choice. I don't understand why, but they don't want to work with FRD.

Well who knows? Plus news about BF3 being passed to a different developer was just a rumor. As far as we know, this project could have been cancelled, or maybe LucasArts is attempting to finish the game themselves. But seeing how hundreds of fans mailed letters to LA about them wanting the FRD Battlefront 3 and how so many people enjoyed the footage in the leaked trailer, it's a possibility that LA will be caring (for once) and give it to Crytek.

Huh, for some reason I thought it was official that Rebellion Developments would be finishing BF3. But Crytek is just an odd piece of the puzzle. I mean they like to make games with very realistic graphics and FRD doesn't and BF has never looked very impressive. I remember an interview wherein the developers of BF2 said they didn't want to make it very realistic because it was more like playing with Star Wars action figures and having fun playing the battles from the movies.

I don't know what Time Splitters is, but if Crytek can make a better Battlefront, than I guess that this is good. That Dark Obi-Wan pic is just wierd though.
