wow, talk about maximizing results. no longer in production, huh? thats extremely disappointing. i am trying to find the best possible .40 round for my springfield, and thats pretty close to the effect i was looking for. can you recommend any similar rounds?
@nicolejnelson Magsafe brand has loads with approx 20 spheres per bullet which is somewhat similar but the smaller fragments won't penetrate as far usually.
my mom was shot in the stomach with a .40 hollow point round (similar to this..?) this summer.. it went from a little bit right of her belly button all the way through to her bottom left rib in her back and shattered it completely. had a bunch of surgeries and whatnot and it only messed up her ribs and muscles and a small section of her intestines. she survived but damn this really puts things into perspective
sweet crunchy jesus on a stick =O You can even see the gel block 'hop' up off the supports from the massive hydrostatic shock right near the end of the vid
@mitsubishidiamante I think in most cases where a person is wounded in this manner, the only doctors that will see the victim are pathologists in the morgue.
this ammo was made by triton, and when they went out of business i think one or 2 other companies tried putting it out but it didnt work out,,,it's a shame too - great rounds..wish i could find more of them...
It's QuikShok brand ammo. The bullet is designed to split into three pieces when it hits soft tissue. I used some for squirrel hunting in .22 LR, a single shot left a nickel sized hole in the squirrel's neck. Devastating stuff.
Pretty much. They look like Hornady XTP rounds on the outside, but the lead core is pre-scored into three pieces so it will break on impact. Its a very good concept, and a shame that these rounds are no longer in regular production.
@BrassFetcher ummm by any chance do you know why they arent in regular production anymore? im sorry, im really slow on the uptake...and did they make these rounds in 9mm?
ouch

@HellsSkulkers
No, this is a .40 sw pistol round fired from a handgun AFTER it hits something it breaks into multiple projectiles.
