When you take Race out of the story of the Jena 6, then you see the brutality of the crime. What you call lynchings I call gang beatings. The law is blind in this regard. The criminal acts committed met the statutes for attempted murder. That's why the prosecutor chose to pursue them. Furthermore he made a successful case against one of the criminals. It was an appellate court decision to reverse the ruling due to the criminals age. In the end the mob all took plea bargains.

4 months later, a male student who had taken no part in the noose hangings, was the victim of a premeditated attempted LYNCHING at the hands of 6 other boys. He was battered unconscious and unrecognizable. What did you mean, you people?

The city held a test for promotions. It was an not something out of the ordinary, in fact I would be willing to wager its a process the city has set in its bye laws. The issue for the city was that no black firefighters took the exam. The city tossed the results. The firefighters worked honest and had committed no sin, yet still the opportunity to advance their careers is taken from them on account of skin tone. That is racism.

The criminal acts committed met the statutes for attempted murder. That's why the prosecutor chose to pursue them. Furthermore he made a successful case against one of the criminals. It was an appellate court decision to reverse the ruling due to the criminals age. In the end the mob all took plea bargains.

Lets talk about Jena 6. The three nooses were hung on the tree on august 31st, the students responsible were found, and the principle attempted to expel them from the school. The school board reversed the decision and decided on its own punishment.

The city held a test for promotions. It was an not something out of the ordinary, in fact I would be willing to wager its a process the city has set in its bye laws. The issue for the city was that no black firefighters took the exam. The city tossed the results. The firefighters worked honest and had committed no sin, yet still the opportunity to advance their careers is taken from them on account of skin tone. That is racism.

Some thing like this happened at my school. A group of kid 4 black and 1 white (thinks he's black) got in a fight and instead of give that group the referrals the whole 8th grade got silent lunch for the rest if the year. And the groups referrals where thrown out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you telling me that not one black firefighter passed the test for a promotion? This is fucking pitiful. Yet, all the white fire fighters PASSED the test to get a promotion. So what do they do, THEY THROW OUT THE TEST! What a load of bullshit. I understand the black firefighters may have worked hard to get that promotion, but if they didn't pass the test, they do not deserve the promotion. What more do i need to say on this subject? Can't pass the test, you don't deserve the promotion.

Perhaps you forget what the tests were for, to measure the skill required for the position, and that test was thrown out not because of any problem with the test, but because 'not enough African Americans passed.' A promotional test is a key factor in determining the best person for the job, if you deny a promotion to qualified people because of the failings of a certain group, it becomes unlawful descrimination.

That is why this video exists. and the africans passed the test they were not at the top of the list. 2ndly, all firefighters have to have the same information so using a test to determine the best employee is silly. Fire fighters go through many tests to prepare themselves for their jobs, I should know, my father was one. He had to take several tests, both physical and mental. These men were opting for a promotion, don't you dare say none of them worked hard to get where they were already, it shows great disrespect to those who risk their lives to save others.

Essentially, they are saying that a race neutral test was not administered to find the "best" qualified candidate. They determine this based on the fact that a balck candidate didn't pass the test. My Dad wanted to be a police officer. He had to score at least a 95 to get on the force. A black man could score a 70 and get on the force. WHAT!????!!!! That's not even a good cop to score that low and still get on...that's a liability!
