@punkbeech2008 Ya sometimes I think that to I've had some killer original 70s marshalls perhaps about 15 of them over the course of my guitar life. All were very different superleads, jcm 800s, 2203, an anniversary model, and even purple hendrix stack! All played owned and sold over the years.
Your right but if you can't finance any "amazing sounding tube Marshalls" then I'd say Orange is a solid purchase under a 1000 bucks.
Hey, just a question, currently I have the tiny terror with a 1x12 orange cab. Do you think that the Rocker works well enough with the 1x12, or do I need something bigger?
i've heard these orange amps in person from a friend i know. they rock! best metal sound out of anything i've heard. i wish they could do the same with bass :(
Orange amps are some of the best in the world. Any amp can sound like shit if you don't know how to EQ it. Most Oranges have an active EQ- which can make the amp sound like shit if you don't know what you're doing with it.
Hey I added my band's video to this. I used The Rocker 30,and a Michael Kelly Hourglass Q for most of it. An Ibanez 7 string + Clean Rocker 30 + J&H from visual sound to layer it.
is this really the right amp to get for metal? i want it for a heavy stoner rock sound but want to use it to play metal as well, maybe with the right pedals?
I don't think there would be much of a difference, the latter is louder and requires more volume for the tubes to break ( not physically, but you know what I mean) the latter also has reverb, which I wouldn't really use for metal anyways.
i am thinking of getting the rocker 30 combo thing. i keep seeing it as "rockerverb 30 combo" and "rocker 30 combo" are the names interchangeable or are they different amps? does anyone know?
the rocker and the rockerverb are 2 totaly different amps. the rocker is basicaly a blues amp. and the rockerverb will do every thing from clean to metal
I love Killswitch too. I really can't keep up with all of the terms: Metal Core,Grind Core,Death Core,Emo core,Hard core, etc. I just hear stuff I like and learn it. :-)
ok perhaps there would be some other amps then :-). but an orange can take about everything. realy amazing souding amps... a bit too high priced for my taste though. cheers
Still cant make my mind up about the rocker 30, its the only Orange i would ever buy, but the price is still ridicolous i think. But this amp i have to admit is prety decent
These things are expensive. if you can afford it it is a great amp. Peavey Classic 50 is a great workhorse amp if you are on a budget. I just switched to a Kustom Coupe. I have taken it on about 5 gigs so far-I think I have found the amp for me. Well-I would like to get a Kasha, but they are more expensive than Orange :-).
Can anyone help. Ive got a budget of about £350 and want a all tube amp combo cabable of doing everything from cleans to ac/dc style cruch to a heavier metallica sound. can push to £400 but anythin lower is great.
Yeah-I saw some bands playing them and they sounded pretty cool. The show I remembered the most was Evergreen Terrace. Not sure if they still use them, but they were when I saw them.
In your other review of the rocker 30, the amp sounded a LOT better. I suspect it has to do with that you had eminence speakers instead of the Orange cab with vintage 30:s. It sounded more heavy and focused. What eminence speakers are they and what did you use for cab?
Actually-this is the Orange 112 cab. My other demos is the Drive 212 with Eminence legends. I don't have a preference though. I just play what sounds good to me.
I just accidentally removed someone's comment. It had to do with the muddiness and the camera. Listen to my new video to hear a different tone than this video, Nobody is trhe song. It is on my front page. It cam out awesome.
Just wondering for comparison in size, is that a 112 cab adjacent to the 212 of which you are playing through? 112 vs. 212 for small venues with the Tiny Terror? Thanks Mel, awesome reviews by the way!
The sound on the the orange kind of sounds muddy and deep when you were playing the metal riffs. Is that basically the normal sound for hard rock or metal that Orange amps produce? Also, is it possible to get more of a clear sounding distortion, like a marshall when when playing through an orange amp? I personally love the marshall plexi super lead amps that have been reissued now. They really do have amazing distortion.
The first part is just my guitar, and the amp. Part of the problem is that guitar is dark-plus the amp is pretty ballsy. But haven't played a marshall in a long time-so I'm not totally sure. Most likely if you like those marshalls-stick with that. I have Bill Lawrence pickups in my Vineyard(basswood body)-maybe i can do a metal demo with that. Check out stone sour, and evergreen terrace-tose two come to mind for orange amps.
You are absolutely correct, my friend. I keep saying that Orange amps aren't made for metal for the exact reasons you stated. Orange are good for sludgy metal. It's not a very tight, articulate tone. PEACE
