Overall, is this a (very) good video camera?

How many hours can you record with its memory in HD(720 or 1080) and how long does it take before the battery "dies"?

I can see that the quality is great though =)

Tbh i don't know lol. i haven't filmed that much with it yet. Most of the time i just film parts and shut it down or put it away for a bit. So never ran out of batery yet.. but i think it can do bout an hour not to long. And with memory i really don't know. have to look into it. I got 8 GB extra mem card to in it so 16 GB total. More space available then the battery lasts anyway hehe.

@mmva007 No sense to record at 1080i because the real resolution of this camera is 1440*1080, and in this quality you can film 1,5 h on internal 8 Gb. Battery dies in 1-1.5 hours.

Nope it just records 3 seconds.. can't be changed afaik.

Nice, is the lag a feature in hd cameras when "quickly" turning around or it was caused by something else?

Well I see some struttering once in a while (for example when you zoom at 40 secs it doesn't go superüber smooth) etc.

But oh well, guess I can cope with that.

I was looking for it a few days ago lol couldn't remember how to access it but i found it again :)

on the screen press the menu button (the house) and then pick the 3th option button on that first screen. Not the movie of photo but the 3th. Mine is set to dutch so no idea what it is called in english :P

P.S. it's such a cool camera, but in the beginning i was sirprised with it's small size.

P.S.2. I Can't tell you what it's called in English because my menu is localized in Greek. In greek it says "Ομαλή Αργή Εγγραφή", whitch translates in to "Steady Slow Motion Recording"

hey.. i have the same cam, i have also got vegas movie studio 9.0 but the files can't get straight into sony vegas, i dont know why

Maybe it needs an update?.. Strange tho as i got Vegas 8 Pro and it works fine with that.

After i edit it with Vegas i encode it as 720p HD .wmv and i upload that to youtube.. It will take a hour or so before the vid actually shows up a s HD tho. Youtube needs to process it.

Maybe SUPER can do it.. i don't have it installed no more so i don't know.. I use Sony Vegas to edit everything but it aint free. so can't help you much i'm sorry.

How did you process the slow-mo? whats the frame rate?

uhm.. I din't do anything to the slow-mo. The camera has a slow-mo function on it. just select it and start recording :P just dragged the raw slow-mo file into the editing software and done!

Still not a clear idea what you want it to do. i googled a bit ^^ but as far as i used it it hasn't have special effects. maybe you can create that with editing ;) i think if you want a camera that can record in strange looks you gonna need a real expensive one :P

fisheye is a kind of lens that is really wide, that gives a warped view. google image fish eye lens! :)

What is a fisheye ? Other then the thing a fish looks with.. But i don't know how you want to use a camera for that :P

Sorry for asking again - I have also a CX105e and trying to use it more efficiently. As I found you took the video in full HD mode and then converted it to WMV format and uploaded it to YouTube, right ? Are you using PMB for the conversion? Are you using special option to keep the quality in HD ?

And i don't actually convert it. I import it into Sony Vegas and edit the movie (put in the tekst and stuff) and then output it as a .wmv file in 720p quality (perfect for youtube)

I never used the software that came with the camera because i already had Sony Vegas (used it years ago and it worked great so using it again now)

But i guess that the software that comes with a HD camera should be able to produce HD quality. But i don't know the software to be honest.

I just tried to check it. PMB can convert the video to WMV with VGA 640x480 resolution different from 720p resolution !! Is Sony Vegas free for download ?

What file format does it save the videos in?

I tried a Canon HD-camera that saved the videos in MTS-format.

Most HD camera's record in AVCHD format and that is saved as .MTS files.

Tho i have no problem at all with that i can just drag and drop it into Sony Vegas and edit it without a problem and then save as .wmv format in HD.

Well i know there are programs around that can convert .mts to .avi or .wmv you can try those don't know how well they work tho. Just google for .mts converter maybe then you can put it into Premiere.

I've abandoned DV-tapes, because it takes so much time to transfer the video to the computer, and now it seems like i have to encode all the files. I think I'll try something else.
