  • A better director should remake the prequels correctly as well as do 7 8 and 9 correctly

  • Hahah, Klagnon Moogufu

  • Well at least Lucas won't ruin episodes 7-9 by making them. I am sure whatever is in my imagination is qualitatively better than anything Lucas can produce. What an asshole.

  • If they ever remake the Star Wars prequels, the director should watch these reviews

  • @AwesomeTAB321 I hope that will happen one day, I seriously hope George wakes up.

  • GOOOOO HOOKER!

  • 8:18-8:36, is the best part of all of REDLETTERMEDIA'S reviews, it pretty much explains it all, it was actually very moving...

  • WE'RE IN THE MONEY!

    WE'RE IN THE MONEY!

  • As cheesy as it sounds, i laughed my ass off during this, but i also learned something about film making xD

  • 6:40 its genius!!!!

  • I don't know about the rest of you, but I am having a blast reading the few arguments (in the commentary) that try to defend the prequels (the ones that are readable). They are so poorly constructed that it seems they personally helped out in writing the sequels!

  • klagnon mugufoo ahahahahah

  • @smartass250 may just pic up a light saber he calected.these movie still ad death to the origonal trilllage.with your reviews i see these movies as haf full the i can tell when goerge do,se get things right&what he whas tring to do i would have delivered these scene&one or to plot difrently

  • I wonder if he really killed his cat

  • I was 9 years old when Star Wars episode I came on theaters. So I was at perfect age and I had seen and fell in love with the original trilogy. So of course I was thrilled to see these new movies. I remember I had goose bumps at the title sequence like I had when I saw special edition of "Star Wars" in 1997. But after watching Phantom Menace I really did not remember anything. I didn't think it was a bad movie I just didn't think about it at all, so in conclusion it is a bad movie.

  • @TuomioK

I was around the same age as well. Even back then I couldn't figure out what was going on and don't really remember much.

  • preaqules shuld have been about fatherhood. anakin shuld have become like abusive father to the empire that in jedi finaly relise that his wrong. fist starting like liberal young man who supports democarcy, and then when war starts he starts to leard the ways of dark side in order to bechome more powerfull to end the war. with time he slowly gains package and sith belives and in the last movie he belives in total control and dicatorship. that whuld be seduction.

  • @gethsoftware My point exactly! There were a few points from the old films that had to be portrayed.

"Luke has too much of his father" aka Anakin like Luke never got into the farmer mentality. Wanted more.

"You fought in the Clone Wars?" aka Clone Wars could have been just a name, clones didn't have to be there let alone form the Storm Troopers origin.

"He was a good friend and a good pilot" Show us the friendship and the piloting skill!

The list can go on but you guys get it

  • I mean, did we really had to see Anakin as a 5 year old kid? Couldn't we instead see Anakin in Phantom Menace as a teenager filled with anger and doubt? And see Dooku as a Jedi BEFORE he was seduced by the dark side? SO we could have Darth Maul carry over until the Attack of the Clones like a real villain and when he died then we see Dooku take up his place as a Sith Lord? I didn't feel Bane's Rule of Two in the prequels, seemed more like Dooku and Maul were Palp's apprentices the whole time!

  • Watched all Star Wars review videos for all 3 prequels more than twice each, Mr. Plinkett was spot on! On everything! The prequels could have been / should have been / would have been so much better! I'm surprised though he didn't mention the greatest farse of all,

Luke: Do you remember your mother? Your real mother?

Leia: Images mostly, she was sad

Luke: I have no memory of my mother

WHEN IN EP3 BOTH BABIES HAVE THE SAME SCREEN TIME WITH THEIR MOTHER BEFORE SHE DIED!

  • @AlessandroAmbruzzi yeah thats stupid. allso they ruined luke uncle. i wanted to see anakins brother more, but now it turns out they where not real brothers. lukes uncle talks about anakin like he knew him really well. but in preaqules its like he just mets him once. and his like, "oh nice to meet you or what ever". did not feel right. i allso asumed that anakin was born in the farm, not that he was some experiment by plaugus. so many missed oportunitys.

  • @gethsoftware You are absolutely right! Uncle Owen in the prequels knew Anakin as some guy that visited twice and never even had time to get to know eachother! Anakin on the other hand, seemed like he didn't even knew Owen's name for that matter! Like he didn't give a damn who that guy was. Damn it, I'm mad again! And then we have Lucas being grumpy with the fans for not liking the prequels. IT'S BECAUSE WE LOVE STAR WARS THE REASON WHY WE ARE DISPLEASED WITH THE PREQUELS GEORGE!

  • Obi Wan: Use the force George, let go George.

Lucas: No I got my targeting computer, I'm good.

    Obi Wan: Trust me

  • lmao He just trusts 'Monster Mash'

  • "Instead of destroying the death star, he destroys the ship that controls the robots."

"The dumbest thing I've ever heard." Hahahah

Also why does Lucas not even use his own terminology. He always seems to call lightsabers laser swords and droids robots and gungans goongas. I mean what the fuck?

  • @Foges6694 He's too hipster.

  • Ultimately, the reason the prequels failed was because everything and everyone in the films basically was just a chess piece in the emperor's plan. The complete plot is pointless though because of two reasons: First, we already knew the emperor wins in the end. Second, he doesn't even have any counter player. Everything just happens according to his plan, and whenever somebody tries to step up to stop him (Mace Windu, Yoda), they do nothing but confront him physically.

  • Did he say he made out with George Lucas?!? hahahahahaha

  • I'm Lvl 13 Jedi Knight but I still can't shoot lightning out of my fingers LOL

  • Lucas should pay the price for his lack of vision LOL

  • im glad i saw these reviews. i always noticed these things in my mind, but was never able to pin point all of these flaws like this. its funny that i can recite nearly word for word the OT but have only watched TPM about 10 times, ATOC about 3 times and ROTS 1 time.

  • @radicalman33 You watch The Phantom Menace 10 times? That is some serious denial.

  • @GreatScottPilgrimage

honestly when it first came out i saw it in theaters 6 times, the rest were at home on DVD. i thought it was a good movie when it first came out (minus the pod racing and jarjar) plus i had been waiting for Star Wars to come back since 1988 (first time i watched SW) but since then i realized that its just not that good. TESB is still my fav.

  • Wow that part with the girl going after plinkett is more compelling than the prequels

  • @dekead My thoughts exactly.

  • I really DO love your ending...

Luke, NOT using his computer to defeat the Death Star...

    I really see the message...

George Lucas, STOP using computers, Blue/Green Screens and anyshit. Simply stop it.

We all know, that the first 3 Movies sucked, but because of your 3 wonderfull reviews, I even understand why they sucked.I never really realized how TERRIBLE the camera setup and stuff really was...but my Brain did XD.

Thank you for your great work, and I sure like to order sum pizza rolls :D.

  • What is the song that plays while the words "The End" are onscreen?

  • @Dragonfly88 @Wasabi831 @mjgamerboy

Charli Brown - i squeeze gats

though the vocals are sampled from The What - Biggie

  • I'm surprised he didn't bring up the whole Padme "lost the will to live" thing.

  • I teared up with your juxtaposition of Lucas killing this series and Luke doing what made it so great. I think I had forgotten just how important these movies were to my childhood.

I am so glad I have this trilogy on VHS with none of the dumb shit Lucas added over the years. My kids will be watching it that way so they can be amazed like I was.

Pretty sure they won't see the prequels until they are teenagers and can see what crap they are.

  • If Harry Plinkett started making movies, the world would be a better place! HE SEEMS TO KNOW MORE BOUT MOVIES THAN GEORGE L!

  • I would also like to know the name of that song at the end, the rap song which sounds like biggie.

  • fantastic! btw what is the name of the song at the end? meaning 10:07

  • just how the darth maul fight is the only good thing about phantom menace

  • and to me i liked Hayden as anakin ,i felt his emotion and pain when his mother died in his arms, that was pretty good acting , to me thats the most important scene in that film ,and the aftermath of course when he tells padme what he did, to me thats the best thing about that film,

  • its that sum stuff in filmmaking is outdated ,but still effective if done right, and not to mention being lazy, its so much easier to use a computer for everything, its cuts time and costs for the film ,when being made, still thats not a good excuse for poor film writing,

  • my fav part is when anakin's eyes turned full sith for a sec,he looked so fucking sinister, showing that he was pretty powerful, because takes a while for ur eyes to turn like that fully, like months, for a normal jedi, but anakin isnt ur average jedi

  • I almost want Lucas to make parts 7, 8 and 9 just so I can see more of these fantastic reviews.

  • @Zorg2006 I don't think he will after all the shit everybody threw at him

  • @AmericanBadass44

Machete don't text - and George Lucas don't listen to critics.

  • Know what's ironic? Lucas himself said that the theme and moral of A New Hope was "don't rely on technology for everything".

  • 07:54 - How come C3PO suddenly has articulated arms?

  • @sec0ndevolution god even C3PO and R2D2 were CGI characters at one point or another in these prequels. It was Lucas' way of getting as close to making everyone a computer generated character. But ah fuck it, I guess he knew only kids would respond so why not make THE CLONE WARS TV SERIES AND FILM IN COMPUTER ANIMATION O_o

  • These reviews have been so freaking amazing. I've learned so much about screen writing, character building, plots and special effects. And most importantly - I have finally found out what's wrong with Transformers, Avatar, Tintin and all the other major blockbusters that have filled cinamas all over the world the last decade.

You sir, should get a job at a large emotion picture company and tell them how shit works!

  • @krennern i liked tintin. i liked avatar first couple of times, now i think its good but not great movie. atleat i know whos who. my only hope for avatar is that in next movie the damn xenophobic navis pay for theri lack of vision. like you think the navi mothers appreciate antibiotics that save their children from death. they xenophobic assholes who suffer from solipsism. you whuld think they appreciate fire arms in jungle full of deathly predators. fuck sakes.

  • @krennern Yeah, but the major studios are mostly interested in making money - good movies are just a bonus. And, writing good scripts, developing great characters and creating cool dialogue takes time. As long as studios make money from shitty movies, they'll make them. So, if you want studios to stop filming shit films, stop paying to see them.

  • Also, Christenson looks stupid in the Vader suit. He's way too narrow in the shoulders and looks like a kid dressed up for halloween. They should have found another body builder or athlete to stick in there (today's body builders are too roidy and freakish, so a basketball player or someone like that).

  • GL completely destroyed the Star Wars franchise with these prequels, not just because they are awful movies, but because they are prequels. They unravel the original trilogy with plot inconsistencies and by re-telling what was an interesting back story in a bland and ineffectual way. Rocky 2-5 were bad movies, but they take nothing away from the original Rocky because it's not dependent on them. If GL wanted to make crappy movies to move merchandise, they should have been sequels.

  • IM GOING TO FUCKING DIE, I HATE HOW THEY RAPED STAR WARS!!!

  • So visually dense, so artistically aimless...oh look Evangelion Rebuilds...OMG IT'S SPREADING!!

  • Nadeine is one scary dame with a Brooklyn accent

  • I honestly think these should have been included as special features to the new blu ray set.

  • Harry my good sir you are a legend!!, massive respect for all these fantastic reviews, fuck george lucas, he would be dogshit without irvin kershner and gary kurtz.

  • I think the biggest mistake Lucas ever made, was not numbering the original trilogy properly! He should have just labeled them episode I, II and III from the start and be done with it. There was no need for any of this crappy prequels to exist in a first place. It used to be a great backstory, left to our imagination, but not anymore. I hope eeevryone learns from his mistake – DON'T START WITH THE FUCKING SEQUELS

  • @eyeCU13 I always *liked* that they began with 4. It implied that there was something before, that it was part of a serial story, but I NEVER expected them to be filled in because I had done that in my wee child's imagination. The Clone War was way, way darker, weirder, with much higher stakes. I didn't have it completely fleshed out, but the concept of "clone wars" sounded very surreal. "IV" just implied an epic, unseen past that I wish had remained unseen.

  • Im amazed how Redlettermedia reviews of the prequels were much more entertaining than the reviewed movies.

  • WHERES MY PIZZA ROLL PLINKETT!?!?!?!

YOU'L PAY FOR MY PIZZA ROLL IN BLOOD YOU CHEAP PSYCHOTIC BASDARD!

  • Lucas: I don't believe it!

Yoda: And that's why you fail.

    Luke: Fail!

    Obi-Wan: Epicly fail...

  • say, is it not interesting that when vader later found out he actually had two children he never seemed curious about how that happened? i mean, if he had killed padame while she was still pregnant then there should not have neeb any kids. so when he found out about luke he should have gone to the emperor and asked: hey, dude, i thought you said she was dead. where did this kid come from? and how come you never showed me her body? did anyone even look into her death?

  • @topperheartramada And even though he WAS evil, he could have just gone and fucking asked about it. Yeah, people would have been terrified of him, but he should have looked into it. Evil or not, he "loved" her and you'd think that he'd be a TINY bit curious.

  • Plinkett is my fucking hero now. I've never wished for anything more than the ability to "unsee" those awful prequels. I would have been better off just not knowing the back story of the origional trilogy so I could use my own imagination to figure it out. But then again, if they didn't exist, I wouldn't have spent over three hours listening to these reviews howling with more laughter than ever before. I guess the force works in mysterious ways.

  • It was worth the prequels being so garbage just to hear Plinkett rip them apart.

  • could anyone tell me the name ot the music he uses as bgm? not the mahler one.

  • I stand up, applauding!

  • So did the Nadine thing ever continue?

  • @Jawsfan6 Yeah but it isn't really an epic conclusion. All the tension and darkness was wiped out for complete wackiness. Also a guy plays plinkett instead of the voice actor. That's not really a negative but its polarizing for some.

  • Is the song that starts at number 14 - I'm done a star wars one? I can't ever seem to find it.

  • @theloyalfury Mahler's 5th Symphony, mvt. 4 (Adagietto. Sehr langsam) :)

  • "I met him a couple of times, we made out" LOL

  • "Help me, my brain is collapsing inside itself !" :DDD

  • Klagnon Moogufu is memorable.

  • all of these reviews are hilarious and awesome but this guy completely contradicts himself when at the end of this 3rd episode review he says how basicaly the prequels reuse everything from the original trilogy but in the 1st episode review he is making fun of how ridiculous qui-gons plan was to get the part for the ship and he said they should have just found a pilot and paid him what they have now and pay the rest when they get to curoscaunt, like what obi wan and luke did with han solo.

  • @chibears26 - Because it made more sense. In that situation, reusing that from the original trillogy would make sense in the given situation, and it would be purposeful. In other examples, it is not only without purpose, but sometimes also the exact opposite - it makes no sense in the given situation, and reusing the parts from the original becomes the purpose in itself.

  • i'm surprised he didn't compare how luke used hate (or the darkside) in order to save leia from vader in the final duel. And anakin went to the darkside to protect a woman as well. but luke realized it was a bad idea.

  • great review, the original ones were just so good, it had flaws which were appreciated and admired and that you could relate to,it was like you were not seeing a movie but a window into this world. The new ones have been so "cleaned" I guess and thought out that it destroyed any possibility of a mistake.

  • I got chills at 8:00..........such great film making

  • @stephl349 no you didnt. That part was basic.

  • Just so you know, because I know you'll love it, that green lightning you thought Yoda might have used actually exists. It's called Electric Judgment, I kid you not.

  • Thumbs up if you've watched these reviews more times than the actual films.

  • @HiMrJ I've seen this movie once and this is the second time I'm watching the review, so I am a part of that group.

  • all of your reviews are fkin epic. your harry plinkett character reminds me of buffalo bill from silence of the lambs. I was half expecting one of your cutaway scenes to have goodbye horses playing in the background. Wonder if nadine gets her revenge.

  • Thank you so much.

  • How can entire team of writers leave all these inconsistencies and loopholes

  • @iBischoff dont you understand the only writer is george lucas he has complete control its down to him

  • @iBischoff Because its an entire team of writers.

  • That is, until someone comes up with the crazy idea to do the prequels over again. Preferably an insane George Lucas using only hand puppets and star wars toys for special effects.

    Maybe.

  • To me, Mr. Plinket's Star Wars reviews will always be the real Star Wars prequels <3

  • Comparing Luke switching off his computer when destroying the Death Star and Lucas exclusively using computers to make the prequels is a master stroke.

  • I felt a cold chill

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • Here's what I hope for in life:

1.) Someone "reimagines" (ala Battlestar Galactica) these movies and incorporates your advice, and bring Star Wars to its character driven roots.

2.) Some sort of "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" type story (maybe based around that black security guy on Naboo for the hell of it) retelling this story from the perspective of a regular dude witnessing the downfall of the Republic. How does he react? Why does the public find Empire appealing?

    Thoughts?

  • I am waiting for you to do 'Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull Fuck' (That's what it should have been called. Ironically, it was George Lucas who fucked that one up to)

It just really was a terrible film, lacking everything that made the original Indy Films special. Pretty much every single friend of mine has watched these reviews and agree's with them 100%

  • @Azanti

Crystal Skull Review is now up as well :)

  • Your conclusions in the last five minutes or so feels more beautiful and "poetic" (to quote dearest George) than Eps I & II do...

  • It's sad how the little "funny bits" with the hooker have more artistic merit than the entirety of the prequel movies.

  • @PsychoticPengu Yeah, i was wanting to see if Nadine achieved her goal too.

  • Excellent review. Must tell my friends that this is up. They`ve been waiting a while since the last two.

  • redlettermedia, this is your Magnum opus, awesome job

  • Goerge lucas was a "last hope". Here was an opportunity for a film maker to "re-influence" a hollywood film industry that has become skittish, blinkered, unable to take risks. I just dont have the heart to go on and on as these prequel films suck the life out of everything any good film lover enjoys. In short, he blow it. It is clear his film making abilities and his money making abilities are poles apart.

  • @1stchampagan There may be another hope....Christopher Nolan....he seems to understand the importance of story over effects

  • Why haven't a million people seen this review?!?!?

  • @wilfred8686

perhaps because it's just up for a week :P

but don't worry, more people will see it eventually, it's the will of the force ;)

  • @MediaLetterRed o no its minichlories or whatever now XP

  • @MediaLetterRed Oh man. You want to know something? Revenge of Nadine looks more interesting than revenge of the sith

  • @MediaLetterRed will plinket ever return to do indiana jones 4?

  • @MediaLetterRed Its posted on RLM's webzone; that's where I saw it first.

  • @wilfred8686 i think most people have seen it on the red letter media homepage.

  • @wilfred8686 Because most of us already saw it at his webzone.
