Actually, if you watch it with the cast commentary, David specifically says that they tried several ways to switch the tooth brush but in the end he did just use the same one. His mom comments it too. I recommend watching it with the commentary, you learn a lot and it's hilarious.

I hate to break it to you but that is a myth.

There are far more bacteria in a dog's mouth than are being destroyed. A dog licking a wound is more likely to cause an infection than to clear it up. I'm a practicing vet and I have never seen dogsaliva get rid of an infected wound, it only aggravates it.

Trust me, a dog's mouth is nasty, especialy after he's eaten your cat's faeces and then comes and licks your face.
