This organ has such a lush sound. And the artist, using this lush sound snd his talent really tames the TaCFDm. This organ, especially the sound of the bass pipes is incredible. So this is a Baroque instrument. Does that mean it's a Baroque style instrument, or that it was built in Baroque times? Because if it was, the I say that there hasn't been any progress in organs since then!

I have heard sooo many people play BWV 565, but I've never heard it like this. Truly gives the aural orgasm.
I usually listen to my music at a modest volume, which is difficult to do through my 1964 GE Tube Stereo (pushing effectively 1200Watts of flat sound responsive all the way down to 14Hz). Like the last two comments, and much to the immense dismay of my downstairs neighbors, I cranked this.
J ais beau réécouter cette musique a maintes reprises , y as toujours un moment ou je revois les images d " Il était une fois l homme " ...et c est pas plus mal :)
I've had the pleasure of hearing this played on three different large pipe organs. It's awe inspiring. Each organ has it's own voice... like people. Listening to these pieces gives us a chance to experience the genius of a group of incredible artists. The performer, the composer, the unnamed engineers and builders of these stunning instruments and the men who engineered and built the buildings to protect and give them the richness of their voice. The performer gives life to the rest.
too many artists take a hard edge with this piece and lose the fluidity. this guy gets it. it is a magnificent instrument but i would like to see hands/feet, because it is always mesmerizing to see.
@superxsteve No one really knows the entire truth behind 565. The most widely accepted theory appears to be that it a transcription of a lost violin piece. It is also speculated that it was written by Johann Peter Kellner who was close with Bach. Or the version you described in which it was an early work of Bach trying to work around the deficiency of the early Organ he was composing on.
@whst400 Most of what Bach wrote were teaching tools. Toccata means "to show off" and fugue means to "follow"... so , yes this is a "warm up" to get your fingers, and feet, warmed up for that days practicing.
@youngboyevan1000 how the hell does a hommond sound better??!!!! and this thing is worth three million. all hammonds are worth is to be throw in the dumster. dude seriously you think a hammond sounds better? then you need to go get your ears checked and have your head examined
@youngboyevan1000: You wouldn't know a good organ if one was hanging between your legs. Hammond's sound like junk next to an instrument like this one.
@TPVORTEX It's neither of them but I still recommend Chorosiński's, Stefański's and Newman's recordings ;) Their interpretations of this Toccata and Fugue are interesting too. Thank you all for your comments!
This piece of music is out of this world. I am so addicted to it, I learned on my own how to play it. I need to learn how to play it all though, I only play it around 5:50. I wished I knew how to read the music though, maybe that way it would be more easier for me. Well, if I could own an organ like that, I would definitely be sitting on it, playing it until dawn, so I can awaken the spirits or some mysterious creature out there in the dark corners. I love the deep bass this instrument creates!
To the people who think they know what bass is because they have two 12's in the trunk, go sit in the front pew during a performance like this. This isn't just rattling a license plate, it's making the whole building hum. Even if you can replicate this bass with a set of speakers, the organ still wins by the simple fact that it was built 317 years ago. My Alpine cassette deck isn't even that old. lol
@kasteman1 That's so true! You ain't heard bass until your sitting on the organ bench and you pull out the subbass stops and press the lowest C. It makes your butt vibrate!LOL! :~)
@kasteman1 It's relative positioning though. The "12s" in the trunk are a LOT closer to the listener than the pipes are. You can throw your heart out of rhythm with a pair of subwoofers in your trunk that are turned up high. Also, the air inside your truck is compressed, and you're going to feel the effects of air that is instantaneously thrust upon your body. A church is ported, and doesn't have the same compressive effects that a vehicle does. That being said, a pipe organ is awesome.

Magnificent! this used to be one of my favourite pieces of music when I was in my teens, my dad was an organist, Bach was his favourite composer ~ wonderful posting, thank you.
its sad how Justin Bieber has i think around 500 million views in 8 months? and stunning works of art like this only have couple hundred thousand in a few years :(
@TheLastMyztery It's also sad that it's become nigh impossible to watch a video on YouTube without at least one person feeling the need to bring him up, failing to grasp the irony of helping extend his fifteen minutes of fame in the process.
@DavidfromBA And those references are posted in numerous genres, not just Bach. Other videos across the board are fraught with specific "teen" comparisons. I say let Bach's music stand on its own without regard to his music being better than so and so's. It's completely obvious.
@jrssjdca Exactly, well put! My taste in music is all over the map, and I too have found that videos representing just about any genre you care to name seem to yield a lot of comments likening those artists to the latest flavor-of-the-month teen idols. Baffling.
Well, since Bieber was a product or a by-product if YouTube, that is only natural. I don't care for his type of music and couldn't identify one of his song's if I heard him sing it in a video, but if people enjoy his work, let them enjoy it.
Are we becoming TubeFascists where we have to be told what is good to watch and listen to? My musical interests run the field and include stuff most of my peers have never heard or heard of. You Tube lets me easily locate it and listen.
@haitipi I don't think we're talking about the same thing. I don't begrudge anyone their right to like and listen to Bieber if they choose to do so. To the contrary, what I'm tired of is people who bring him up à propos of nothing at all - for instance, posting an anti-Bieber comment on a JS Bach or Rolling Stones video.
It's the organ being played in this video. Whether or not this is a picture or the actual live video, i'm not sure. I couldn't believe it at first, I thought this was a view of a beautiful pipe organ, not THE pipe organ.

This Studzinski organ could have been included for the study that E. Power Biggs recorded for Columbia Masterworks, playing the Toccata, BWV 565 Nr. 1, on several organs throughout Europe. Its tone compares well to that of the H. W. Flentrop on the eventual album.
@bcschmerker Thank you all for your comments. I’d rather call it Glowinski’s organ, its website explains it why. E. Power Biggs sadly never played this organ. He was a great organist.
is there any1 that can tell me more songs like this one played on pipe organ? i'm looking for a slow song with fast parts like this one, but with an dark and eerie feeling just like this songs gives you

Chciałbym usłyszeć ten utwór grany na tych organach przez Karla Richtera. Niestety już nie usłyszę.

@bcschmerker I Really wish I could hear this organ in person, must be an experience.

Este organo es increible en sus registros.
Desde luego, el organista del "International organ festival",es increible en el tempo,el fraseo y la interpretacion.
No es una herejia colocarlo a la altura de Walcha o Richter.
¡Sublime!.

Best rendition of BWV 565 I've ever listened to, and I've listened to a lot of them. Organist should be congradulated on this one. Truly masterful.
