I have this same recorder and it actually does an amazing job for something with a condenser mic and a design that dates back to 1966. No sibilance which is shocking for a portable recorder.
Oh wow! My family used to do this too, (before the advent of VCRs). We recorded all kinds of things on audio cassette! I still have 2 tapes: one that my older brother and I made and another of my dad's birthday party, and I was about 5 years old.

I wish I could hear tape recordings people made with these at the time.

The video's sound quality doesn't give justice to the excellent recording quality this recorder has.

I have the same model, the TC-110A. It's a very nice high quality machine. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

@CassetteMaster I have the original TC-110 with the original external microphone. It's been in the family since the 70s. Great unit.

I believe that's Olan Soule doing the voiceover. Among many other roles, he did the voice of Batman on "The Superfriends" for Saturday morning TV.

I totally used to tape-record my birthday parties as a kid... not even kidding. this was in the late 80's/early 90's though.

Thanks for the memories!

@heine71 "Sony owned Superscope?"
No. At the time the commercial was made, Superscope distributed Sony products.
