  • how did you sidechain the bass? i cant understand your discription.thx

  • @vetfm1 with a hardware dbx266 with sidechain input, but instead of using the kick to trigger the compressor, i have a dedicated sound source(a tight rimshot) that allows me to adjust the compressor perfectly without having to reset it every time the kick changes

  • Are the drums sounds in this demo (snare specifically) presets on the machine or your own samples?

  • @Veedle90 honnestly i dont know anymore since i took all the internal samples plus my own in one big file for each sound (as at the time i needed sample in numbers rather than in size(i had a lot of single cycle waves when i used to use the internal synth) so 1 file with 40 something kicks, one with snares, etc)

i recognise the kick in this one being not fom the esx, but from the fruity loops 1 or 2 demo in the club kit, cKick.wav IIRC and it's been my to go live kick for ages, see next

  • @Veedle90 the rest i'm not sure, i think the acoustic snare is from the drumkit from hell 1 multisample set, hats are probably stock 909 so internal or mine doesnt rellly matters, same for the 909 rash, pretty universal

  • @Veedle90 i think i misled you on the snare, the huge fat dirty one i THINK is internal, but don't quote me on that

  • @muzik4machines cool thanks. sick beat.

  • @DavidTroster no prob, thanks

  • @dn8ture yes it is :)

  • which is better-emx or esx??

  • @petemk1966 really depends what you need, the esx is a sampler and only has 2 parts melodic synths (based on stretched samples) so it's slightly better as a drum machine than a full fledged groovebox

The emx on the other hand, has pre set drum sounds but has 5 parts melodic synths(based on physical modelling and samples), the tradeoff being the drum sounds dates from like 8 years ago and are starting to sound dated, best deal would be an al inclusive tribe(sapling and 5 parts physical modeling)

  • Can you program your own recorded drums sounds into the ESX and make a beat? Like if I record the sounds from my drumkit as a wav file, can I import them into the ESX and make beats that way?

  • @alexanderj1986 yes you can, either sample and trim them in a computer and use the smart media/sd card to transfer them (easier method) or sample and trim them directly in the esx, then save them, assign them to a pad and sequence it

  • great sound,go on.i also do have an analogue studio and some clips.check out my channel and video, perhaps you like it!

  • Hell yeah!! Love how things really morph into pure awesomeness right around the half way point. :)

  • Nifty!

  • @MrSidMan thanksy :)

  • price for the setup ? OVER 9000 !!!!!!!!

  • @biomecaNICK price of the cases over 9000 maybe, but gear, not over 2K

  • @muzik4machines over 9000 is an internet meme. btw saw your channel, tes québécois ?

  • @biomecaNICK o rly? oui je suis a quebec

  • such a cool video - what a nice set up you have!

  • @flickuaround thank you very much

  • Jesus Christ-That Setup Fuckin Rocks. If you dont mind me asking how much does something like that cost.I also noticed you have almost everything korg makes.I just got a esx today and im still trying to figure things out.Why do i see a ton of people with kp2-kp3 in the same setup?

  • @prettyhatedmachine thanks

usualy cause we had a kp2 and then the 3 came out, much better, but certain things about the 2 are unique, like the NONtempo sync of lots of fx that make lfo speed change way smoother (and delays too), i use the 2 only as a delay nowdays, just cause i have it

  • @prettyhatedmachine and about the cost, the casing and cabling costs WAY more than the gear it protects/connects

  • i dont understand how to use the accent bar

  • th eaccent is a volume boost

all parts on the electribes are constant velocity (100)

the accent part will "accent" the steps its on to raise the velocity of the playing note(s) between 101 and 127, to alter the dynamic of the pattern

  • Hi. Milions of respect. You are Super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my 2 friends are planing our first live show

and i want to get one or may be 2 EMX's.

os my questione is how did you did sidechaning on bass line? how do you phisical connectings you'r staff to do sidechaining?

    sory for my english.

    houpe for you'r help.

  • i use external synths and compressors, BUT a way to do it would be using the out 3-4, one using a sidechain signal (i use a click or a sidestick) on out 3 and the synth you want pumping on out 4, send it to some external compressor with sidechain and bring it back either in the mixer where all is plugged(best) or if you lack inputs, in the electribe audio in and set the audio in thru to on

before i used the LFO(saw) to achieve the pumping but i prefer real comp as i can pump the verb too

  • Very helpful tutorial! Thanks for posting.

    5 stars

  • thank you

  • hey dude ! video is great! but please can you help me. i just got one of these and i can make patterns but they are only one bar long! how do i make one which is 8 bars long. i.e goes along 8 leds and then i can combine patterns to make a song. i really need some help thanks

  • thanks

in the menu with the tempoIIIRC pattern, but there is no more writings on my ESX) (the default one) push arrow down till you see pattern length, and set it to 8 (if you save your 1 bar before doing it, it is repeated 7 times, if you didn't then you have your bar and 7 blanks measure

for the songs, just go in song mode and chain your patterns

  • Man... I wish I could afford some of the stuff you've got at your disposal for production. Very very cool.

Is it possible to do similar styles of tracks without having to do the pause-play thing? Like, could you do it 100% seamless and live?

  • i wish i had a life, furniture, leisures, travels, but i put all my income in gear, you sure can do the same lol

yes it is, i stop because some edits require stoping(changing pattern lenght for example), but if you start with 8 bars already, you can probably manage to never sto(pattern copy/repeat also requires a stop)

  • Very nice setup you have there! Kind of inspires me to do something similiar. It would be nice to get people into a 10-minute speed composing challenge.

  • hey interesting idea, as a lot of youtubers seems to compose electronic music on hardware it would probably give some interesting results

  • i would be up for that!

  • its great to see the pre lim stages of patterns!

  • thnaks, that's why I did it, after being asked so many times how hard it was and all, i wanted to show that anyone with 10 minutes to spare can produce electrolulz

  • Yep,sometimes the patterns that take 10 maybe 30 mins on an electribe (any kind) are usually the bet,in terms of harmonics and melody and stuff.Especially the emx..

  • yep, i'll do a part 2 after supper, starting with what we have here at the end and adding maybe a loop, varying the MKS pattern, making a 1 bar loop on the DX200 and stuff to show like, step 2 in making a pattern to integrate in a live setup

  • i kind of did, see video response for take 2, tho i had to cut like 5 munutes at the start of almost only silence to have it fit the ADD youtube upload rules
