I used to see Danny with Roogalator in the 70's in London too. He was always an original and inventive guitarist. Great to see him here too! Thanks for posting this!
I play drums with Adler currently, and the amp is an AC 30 Vox, and yes that is a Jazzmaster. He gave up music for a good bit because it dried up and became horribly uncreative as it is now. However, we still love to play the creative style that good open ears are looking for.
Shoot thanks for the info. I have a Jazzmaster myself also. It's Olympic White. His looks green, a metallic green. Looks great. The Jazzmaster sound he gets has a Gretschy quality to it's tone in a way. By the way do you know if he uses flatwound or roundwound strings? Thanks.
Thanks for posting this! It's fab to see Danny on YouTube! If you like this be sure to go and download some of that Fatback, Avocado, Zebra Skin solo and Roogalator stuff from the 70's and 80's - most of his back catalogue is now available. And videos? Yes, we want more please!
I saw roogalator several times in London 1975-78. On one occasion I was refused entry at Kingston Polytechnic because I didn't have a student union card. My friend and I recognised Danny Adler and explained our plight, Danny said 'come for a walk around the block' after which he got us in free much to the annoyance of the bouncers! Great band, Great bloke!
So good to see some footage of Danny at long last. One of the most original guitar players I've ever seen and a nice guy too. Is there any more video out there?
i just got done watching an Elvis Costello interview where he talks of his jazzmaster and EC mentions Adler.

He probably uses the bizarre tone switch above the neck pickup, which is only has the Neck on. Very different sound.

This video speaks for itself, the man can play with a style all his own. How refreshing not to hear the same old shit.
