  • 1:03 So what we want to do now is come inside. Nice

  • really good video man, you have helped me alot on this. It sucks when i break a string :(

  • @IIIEX7R3M3III Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed

    Mike

  • Why don't you put the camera in front of you instead of behind you where your body blocks the view...?

  • I think I bought a set of 11s and now my Floyd zr is all lift up :( and I need to play tomorrow at church but I'm not gonna use bcuz it's mess up.. I didn't know this was going to happen. I need to buy new strings

  • Hey would a floyd work ok with a 10 to 52 set? please answer!

  • @DrShredder97 You can but they are more meant to work with 9's. If you use 10's you will have to reset the springs and adjust the height of the bridge.

  • @rockguitarpower By how much? I've not used my Dean for a while and the bridge was high enough to make using high notes fustrating because it was such a long press, is that needed? or should it be lower?

  • @rockguitarpower so going down to 8's will i have to raise the bridge the i guess or by raise do you mean level out the bridge with the springs?

  • How much does it cost for guitar center to replace a string? And would replacing a string on a guitar that has a Floyd rose cost more than usual? And to tune it?

  • @CyRaX1234321 Hey man I'm sure not if they would even charge to fix one string. I would say if you only need to fix one than give it a go yourself!

  • @CyRaX1234321 No No No. They will see you coming. Strings are replaced by YOU not a store.

  • I followed this tutorial as closely as possible... I have been playing for a long time, but my floyd rose special still gets me every time... no matter how much I stretch out the strings, I get a situation where the tension is so drastic that it pulls the bridge up out of what seems to be its natural mid-point (a little higher than flush). The low E and A seem to keep pulling it out of whack, worse with each retune (this is prior to locking down the nut). What am I doing wrong?

  • @quikdeth88 ... PS this is a brand new (July) ESP MH350FR LTD, first string change, and I don't want to pay for a setup because I put a new set of strings on! I used Ernie Ball regular slinky 10 to 46s... help!

  • @quikdeth88 Your not doing anything wrong however what you need to do is tighten the plate that holds the springs. On the back of the guitar there should be a plate, take this off and you'll see the tension springs attached to a plate that is screwed to the guitar. You need to tighten this plate which will put more tension on the springs pulling the bridge lower. This usually gets out of wack when the guitar is setup for 9 gauge strings and then someone puts 10's on it

  • @rockguitarpower thanks for the speedy reply! A little research seems to point in the direction of going a little lighter (most likely 9s as it is 25.5" scale). I am heading out to the music store now, hopefully it should solve the problem. I have a gig this weekend, should I wait to restring it the day before, or just do it now? (I do have a very nice schecter as back up if all else fails!)

  • @rockguitarpower you rock... i switched out the 10s for 9s and it was like magic... everything went real smooth, and all the strings staying right on the mark once stretched and locked down. Any tips for keeping the thin strings from popping out? (other than ensuring the screw is tight against the little block). I had it happen to me twice.. I think they are in good now, but is there something I could use to make it grippier without gumming it up ... or....?

  • @rockguitarpower I had this problem because I did like you said. I put thicker strings on my floyd rose original. I tried to open the plate at the back and tighten the plate so the strings would get more tension. But of some reason. After I screw them to one specific point, one of the screws wont go anymore. It wont let me tighten it at the one side because the scew wont go further in. And the tightening I did make was not enough to get the Floyd Rose in It's original position.

  • @Ale3x93 At this point I would say bring it to a shop in your area. You may need to add extra springs if you really want it to work with your strings. Floyd Rose are really meant to be setup with 9's. You don't want to risk cracking the wood by screwing in too far. Bring it to a shop and have a pro look at it

  • @rockguitarpower Thank you. I never thought of the fact that you could add more springs. I changed back to normal-size strings now. But I will still go to a shop, just to find out if it's possible to use thicker strings.

  • what strings do you recommend for people with the ZR tremolo, i use mine real heavy and my D string just broke at the bridge today, i used 010-046 gauge, should i go to 011 or keep my spot at 010, i need to know fast, i only had those strings for a little under 3 weeks, and what brand would you recommend, i used elixir on the first change, nanoweb

  • @skylineXpert Thanks for the question. I'm actually not familiar with the ZR tremolo. If it's a floating bridge I wouldn't use anything thicker than 10's. I like 9's on my floyd rose guitars. I like elixir's on my acoustic but never liked them for electric. I prefer D'addario.

  • Just did this with my strat... Works magic =D

  • So...

  • im planning to get a Floyd Rose Locking system installed to my Schecter Hellraiser and i know Floyd Roses are a pain in the ass but i love how it keeps it in tune because i would LOVE to start doing crazy shit with my guitar thanks man

  • you need a camra man. lol

  • welp i fuck it up now i cant tune it without the bridge taking it out of tune. whats the solution for this?

  • When you tune the guitar up, will the bridge rise to the right position or do you have to hold it in place while you tune? Are there any problems with the action and the set up that can happen?

  • hey man awesome tutorial i recently purchased my first hsh guitar with floyd rose but i'm planing to change the pickups, could you reccomend me something not too expensive, my genre is rock guns n roses pink floyd and ac dc stuff.... thanks for your tutorial again!

  • @wretcheddog Hey man thanks for the comment. As for what to recommend, there are so many different options. I've always been happy with Dimarzio pickups. If you really like Pink Floyd I know they sell a pick guard pre loaded with ems "s" series pickups. I'm pretty sure that's what David Gilmore uses. There single coil but active and pretty hot. If your going with humbuckers, check out what slash uses in his les pauls. Big thing is to try and test some guitars out with the pickups you want

  • WARNING

Make sure to change the strings in this order to prevent your nuck from bending...

EeABDG Trust Me On This ;)

  • Nice video.

  • do i have to set up the bridge differently if i use a different tuning than E standard?

  • That was really helpful thanks !

  • After you tune all of them, if the bridge is still high you can bring it down by tightening the tail piece that the springs are attached to in the back of the guitar. If the bridge was ok and now it's high after changing strings check to make sure you use the same gauge. Most floyd rose setups use 9's. You can use 10's but you will have to adjust the bridge to get it to sit right

  • When i tune my guitar my floyd rose bridge (whammy part) starts to lift up, causing it to go out of tune/ i tryed tuning the 6th string, got it to E. When i tuned A. my E went to a D. Do i have to ajust the bridge> Please respond as soon as you can, i need answers and help..

  • @smiley643 Yeah this is what happens with them when your first setting them up. It's a lot of back and forth till you get all the strings in tune. What i recommend is tuning the E, then the A. Then go back and tune them both then do the D, then go back and tune all 3 and move to the G. The bridge will keep going up and down because the tension of the strings is what holds the bridge in place.

  • @rockguitarpower Okay i'll try it, thanks!

  • @rockguitarpower okay i got them all in tune.. but the tremolo bar is still as high as it can go, do i just wait, or keep tuning?

  • @rockguitarpower I'm having the same issue, don't really have the time to fuck around with it all tonight. Will it be ok to tune it tomorrow or does it really have to be done now?

  • @smiley643 keep tuning it at take a hell long time floyd rose is the hardest guitar to handel

  • You gotta come in on the inside XD

  • ...alright...so...

  • Remember guys... You need come in on the inside.

  • wow

this is such a dirty tutorial....

    JK

thank you very much, helped me alot with my Dinky :D

  • @naosi3332 your dinky? lol now who is being dirty lol jk i know what a dinky is, i just wanted to make a joke:p

  • @SpaceCadetSpliff

ha ha, i kinda like this kind of jokes :)

    ya :D

didnt noticed it when I typed ^^

  • ok....alright.....ok.....alright

  • løl_í_fÉÊl_sø_lØÑêly_tÖdÄY

  • if you don't stop smaking your god damn lips I swear to god.

  • fuck i need some help please help me, i do not fully understand the whole thing about the 9s and 10s strings.. but i think i just screwed it cause when i try ti get the string tight, i try to play it but it hits the fret so it doesn't make any sound at all, am i doing something wrong? or is it about the size of the strings? if it is, would you explain it to me please? i'd be thanked

  • You have a hairy hand.

  • yeah i always misplace the peg winder while changing strings... this made me laugh

  • If you close your eyes it sounds like a how to have sex video.

  • Thanks....

  • Does he only has "So" as vocabulary ? ... it almost tears my ears to listen to so many "so" in only 7 minutes on my life...

  • Thumbs this up so everybody can see!

I changed the strings to my ESP KH-2 exactly like this and it works perfectly!!

If you are thinking about whether this is the best way or not....This was definetely easy for me and I would definetely say that this is the best way!

    THUMBS UP!

  • @MrGuitarrica oh sweet i have a KH-2 too \m/

  • @gunsofhell1 I mean like. I started playing about three years ago and I totally sucked at changing guitar strings. Then I went online and I discovered this video. This works 100% and then ''special tie'' is perfect. =D

  • @MrGuitarrica i have the same guitar and used the suggested string tie method at the peg and it worked great.

  • @funChick84 I'm glad it worked for you too =D

  • 1:58

You told us how big your dick was with the 4 or 5 inches part....

  • Is that the best way to wind the guitar string? (with that knot?)

  • Thanks SO MUCH!!!

I got a slime bumblebee for christmas, and it cam with some standard strings, i play with 12 gauge (alot thicker) so i started cutting all the previous strings off and then i got MEGA stuck, i noticed it was way different to my other guitar and there were no holes on the back to feed the string through, after watching your video i understand it all, my main problem was that i should not cut all the strings or the bridge will tilt and i cant unscrew what i needed to, Thanks. :)

  • why do you put the camera behind you idiot

  • if i play in a lower tuneing like C# would i tune my guiter to E then later tune it down to C# or just tune it to a C#

  • @RebelsToSociety if you play C# all the time then yea but if just occationally then no

  • dude just one thing before you restring the guitar do you tune it to hold the Floyd in place

  • you sound kinda like jack black...lmao but yeah thanks this was really helpfull :)

  • can i come on thy inside too? :D

  • Dude thanks so much man!

  • Guys just to say. Dont ever tune the guitar while its on its back. Tune it in the position you would play it because gravity does have an initial effect, so you end up tuning it again anyway. Just thought id help poeple not waste time on a floyd rose cos its a bitch to tune as it is!

  • @Bvrntfaceman01 Agreed. The floyd rose is also a bitch to play because there is no place to rest your hand.

  • Thank you so much for this great video! I have only played for 2 years now and I have always taken my guitar to a shop where they did the whole guitar. But with this video I learned how to do it my self. Thank you very very much!

  • Nice Celtic print. Psst, i can see it in your guitar.

  • That help a lot thank you so much

  • Thanks man your amazing, first time putting new string on with floyd and did it with just 2 vids, took me like 2 hours altogether but i think it'll take a little less next time :)

  • Thanks

  • fuckin great vid man, I never hada floyd rose set up I had no fuckin idea what 2do with this thing thanx alot bro

  • what did you do to that poor guitar?

  • how come when i hit a chord it sounds like its being blocked by something? do you think i need to adjust the pickups or the floyd rose??

  • thanks so much :)

  • my strings broke good thing I had extras. After following your instructions, I just broke a 2nd string trying to tune it. thanks a whole lot , my dad's gonna get pissed now.

  • @CPBlazier You cant blame him wtf?!

  • @CPBlazier It must be really expensive to buy a new string.

What the fuck can they cost? 2 bucks?

  • @Knifyman I dont have time to go out, so I buy strings in sets of 2 or 3.

  • if this guy showed me how to change strings or any lesson for that matter i would punch him in the head. 4 PARTS TO CHANGE STRINGS, HOLY MAN SLOW DOWN YOUR GOING TO FAST.

(smack of the lips) ...so ....

  • rock guitar power.... really creative....

  • i tryed 2 change my guiatr yesterday i done it but were the strings connect 2 the flyod it just come right out and its tight i dont understand y so im takin it 2 a shop thts gonna cost me £20 every time. o yeah its a jackson rr3

  • i wouldnt want him to touch my guitar!

  • I have a schecter Floyd rose with double Duncan pickups and it sounds amaZing. The floyd rose is really fun to play with though it's a whore to change the strings and tunen it, it's totally worth it

  • hey I have the ibanez edge III trem on my guitar and I need to change the strings but I was wondering if I do one string at a time will the trem drop down or stay at the height adjustment it's already at? thanks

  • Thank you Chris Farley!!!

  • lol good call

  • THANKS !!!!

  • okay so im looking into getting a floyd rose guitar (and ive never owned a floyd rose before) so i was wondering if changing the strings is really complicated cuz going by this video it seems simple but all my friends who have them say its kinda annoying so please someone who does own a floyd rose tell me if its complicated or not

  • it is not complicated, just time consuming and a pain in the ass when you screw up

  • so for a person who has never had one is it worth the difference (going to a bc rich)?

  • Stay away from BC rich in my opinion... get a shecter floyd rose or ibanez floyd rose. Changing the strings aren't hard if you just follow these SIMPLE directions. People often mis use the word complicated when they really mean to say Time consuming. It's not complicated at all. Leveling the bridge, changing the strings, changing string height, tuning it are all you need to know. If you want to know how to do all these message me through inbox i'll tell u each step.

  • i have played a bc rich warlock and a few ibanez but going from what i played i prefer the bc rich its just i didnt know if changing the strings was hard (i dont mind taking time to do stuff) but i think ill be able to change them from this vid its really good thanks :D

  • yeah i took them all off haha. screwed up. should i put like a block or some shit underneath to set the bridge so i can put the strings on?

  • @sasquatchmilita

complicated compared to changing strings with any other bridge.

If you get and play a guitar with a Floyd Rose you must have a backup guitar to play live, or just 1 broken string causes the band to take a 15 minute break. Changing a Floyd Rose string in a dark club: very hard.

  • I was just wanted to change my strings on my Jackson axe & didnt know how,lol......TYVM, very well done , now its time to get back to ripping out some Dungeons are Calling by Savatage \m/

  • I fucked up with my high e i didn't give it enough string so when started to wind it up it flung out of my bridge

  • thanks so much for this, i just got my first floyd rose guitar 2 days ago, thanks for the vid, it helped a lot

  • Good work with the zoom in, in a lot of this kind of videos you can't see clearly... Thanks

  • Does that knot tying thing work for normal bridge guitars as well?

  • I have a fixed bridge and I have noticed an improvement in tuning stability since I've started using this method. It also takes less time for the strings to stay in tune when newly fitted (at least in my case it does) hope that helps

  • shud i buy Ibanez RG-320PG or a epiphone Les Paul Standard? i like playing metal..but a little rock

  • les paul standard. those can play metal too.

  • If you're into soloing i would say ibanez, but if you like playing rythem i would go with the les paul, both of them are good guitars.

  • hey jabbaYo why not an ESP LTD for soloing. i know that ibanez is the shit but why not ESP

  • Well i would most def go with the ESP but he wanted to know between an ibanez or an epiphone.

i have two ltds and i love them to death!

  • Ibanez RG for sure. Do you like having a tremolo system and decent tone? I bet you will.

  • ijust got ibanez 350 dx and that baby yells! only complain is the pickups but just dont use ur humbuckers for clean split the pickups or just use the single coil. thats whats cool about them they have both. i have no problems love my sound and especiallyon distortion

  • what ibanez model is that, its gorgeous and how much did it cost ?

  • Id like to know also if you find out. o-o

  • Gorgeous? haha, its a low end GRG.

    About $270 US tops.

  • @x0xPokeFreakx0x this is an rg

the tremolo is an ibanez edge and it has the matching painted headstock

    no grg has that

  • what ibanez is that, its gorgeous.

  • its RG

  • very helpful

messed up a bit on the e and a but by the time i was at d i essentially "mastered" it...

    Thanks so much:)!

  • do you have the take the nut off everytime you want to tune the guitar? im quite confused

  • The strings retainer bar is directly attached to the wood? thanks...

  • hei,a have a problem with my cort guitar.

when i was changing the strings,i didnt change them one at the time...i removed them all,but then my bridge fell down...when i replaced the strings with the new ones, the bridge didnt go back up...

please help me,if you know what the problem is... tnx

  • That exact thing happened to me as well when changing my strings

  • Forgive me if I am a little vague with this, but i think i know whats wrong. In your back plate (the back of your guitar) there are two springs. On the bottom of the strings are a screw in each one. to release the tension in the fret board you have to turn these screws. turn them both a quarter and check your flyd and repeat until its in the floating position.

  • you have to ajust the screws inside the guitar

  • You have done a great job on FloydRose setup,,we both use 9-gauge strings, yeah!!!! and we both have the same guitar thanks man.

  • Dude, Outstanding tutorial! Saved me about $50 going to the Music shop and having them replace my sting(s).

  • thanks dude the only thing I never got down was the string twist (how to do it but it never worked because i understood it wrong) helped me alot man =)

  • dude this video helped me so much thank u bud

  • hahah i always loose thewinder when i put it down

  • Awesome this is a pro method and can be done a the strat fixed bridge also.

  • I personally wouldn't cut all the excess string right away, I usually change all the strings first, then jam around and bend the strings with the nut open BEFORE I cut the excess off, to ensure the strings sit tightly on the tuning pegs.

  • im not positive but maybe if u tie the knot the way he does it stays tight? im not sure though

  • I have a Dean Explosion with the Floyd Rose or whatever, and I still have a question. when tuning if i want to tune to somthing like drop C or C sharp I cant tune it to anything lower than drop D. Any suggestions?????

  • I have the same problem. I can only do drop D. I think its something with the tension and action of the guitar. I'm not sure...

  • is your floyd leaning back when you down tune? because if it is all you have to do is take off the back plate and loosen the screws that are conected to the spring holders and it will release the tension

  • yea thats wat it does

  • That knot is actually really easy to do after one full set of string changes, but it's one of the most valuable pieces of information a guitarist could have...

  • helped a lot, thx :)

  • 1:04 thats what she said

  • @BCGFAN101 LOLOLOLOLTRUE

  • @BCGFAN101 PERV! LOL. You funny

  • @BCGFAN101 lol

  • @BCGFAN101 HUH?!.. whats with this "thats what she said" thing? I don't hear shit...

  • @SstalkerS girls lip smack:P usually... from when what i know of, guys who lip smack are gay... but alot of Americans do it... hmm..

  • @Raziax4 Did you try asking your boyfriend?

  • @BCGFAN101 LMFAO!!

  • i have a question. ive been thinking about getting a floyd rose guitar but i like to drop tune too. can i drop tune the guitar every once in a while or once i have tuned it am i stuck with the tuning that i put?

  • Your kind of stuck. You can change the tuning, but you will have the reset the bridge and then tune up again. I have 2 guitars so I keep my Rhoads in Eb (Floyd) and my Ibanez (fixed bridge) at standard or whatever I want.

  • It works fine when I do it. It goes out of tune from alternate tunings quicker but I don't think that hurts the guitar itself, just annoying to re-tune all the time.

  • yeah u can but check out one of the vids how to tune a floyd rose bridge its pretty hard

  • You can also get the Van Halen D-Tuna. It is a fast and easy way of going from standard to drop d on a floyd rose tremolo. search google.

  • it works good if you want to loose the floating ability of your floyd

  • Fast and easy way to go Drop D from standard? I use my fine-tuner and I go from E to D thats all it takes me a few seconds.

  • after watching just the first and part of the second vid, im a lil skeptical bout gettin a floyd rose, is it worth it??

  • depends what sort of things you want to do with your guitar. i prefer having a floating trem rather than a whammy pedal, which you could use to do the same as a tremolo

  • helped a lot thx

  • fuck this helped sooooo much thanks alot

  • i fell asleep watching this lol

  • it's even easier to just wind the string around the pegs a couple of times then stick it through the hole (giggty).. it really saves a lot of time lolz

  • I guess you think string part which is in way to the bridge right?

  • (giggity) lmao its Quagmire:o

  • LOL giggity

  • 1:02 all riiiiiiiight gigity

  • he makes a good quagmire impression :P

  • Does anyone know what model Ibanez this is?

  • rg 570. with a tone zone in the bridge and an air norton in the neck

  • @rockguitarpower what if your floyd rose has no strings at all and u buy a new pack. I kno you would tune each string at a time right? But when i did, the bridge kept going up and when i adjust the screws in the back to bring the bridge down it would create more tension in the strings and then i would have to loosen them and i retune them and it keeps bring the bridge up.

  • is a string guider really necesary because my guitars with floyd rose didnt come with a string guider on it

  • nope

  • nice man

  • That's a good stringing technique, the thing with twisting the string. That combined with the double locking floyd rose, and if you have locking tuners, then good luck trying to make it go out of tune haha.

  • lol i like the way u think. first of the locking bridge doesnt hold then then the looking nuts will. and if that doesnt hold up then the technique of the strings will. its complicated but its worth it.

  • lol,7:06-7:10 "we're gonna do a little bending umm... stretching umm... technique". So buddy, exactly what have you been bending and stretching.

  • very nice your video, you're awesome, and a like that ibanez you use, i have one kind of the same but red =D

  • why do you make that smackin sound with ur mouth?
