He's a blessing, to be sure, but full of cliches. His writing is (or was) more analytical and to the point. The Left in this country attempts to deal with real problems: injustice, unbridled capitalism. greed, concern for the working class, the poor, but often with a deficit of clarity, consistency, regarding its philosophical & political foundations. Walk far enough to the Left and one ends up in Marx's arms ---an oligarchy in the waiting prepared to run the Collective. West is not that.
