Paul Watson, whom i admire very much, has a point, but it's not an either-or proposition. People tend to divide the other life down here from life that might be out there, due to speciesism. We could end up on the bad end of an encounter ala "To Serve Man" or it could go like ET and Free Willy. The bottom line is to treat other animals as we would wish to be treated by more powerful aliens, should they exist.
