She was used as a hunter and ridden too hard. The wind was taken from her and she was sold off to horse dealers getting ever lower until one day she met Black Beauty in the street. He tried to comfort her. Her cab driver was using her up. No food or comfort. She was skin and bones and nothing Black Beauty could do except nuzzle up. A week later he saw a chestnut mare in a knackers cart. Her tongue was dripping blood. He wished it was her because then she would be at peace. Great book.

poor Ginger. she had so much potential :( reminds me of a young stallion I met and he was soo mean, nipping and always trying to kick only cause a lot of ppl were mean to him as a colt. eventually he had to be sold and he died a week later because the ppl who bought him put poor Flyer to sleep cause he lashed out at his rider

I can't imagine putting a horse down. I've loved horses all my life, I'm crazy about them. I've always wanted one, but my family isnt exactly wealthy. That is sad. They could've at least tried to "tame" him before the rider rode him. Why would anyone treat a horse that way? Most horses are gentle, intellegent animals. I bet if they tried to make him a little nicer before he was ridden, he would've been a great horse.

Oh my Bob...this is so beautiful. It is truly good. The song (which I love) matches perfectly to this equine beautiful couple (which I love). For me it sounds more like Ginger is speaking the lyrics to Black Beauty, as she didn´t really like him at the beginning. Then he sold, he walks away... His bed where he lied, the stable..So amazing.
