The only problem is the constitution doesn't say its right, and even gives a suggestion on how it could be amended, hell even how its amended could be amended. The constitution is supposedly right due to social contract theory.
Statism, is the one religion, people believe in today, and they live by it hearty without all the lukewarmness of present day religions. Its also, the religion, that is forced upon the young, to keep this mythology going.
In the U.S. the word liberal has changed considerably than in other countries. It used to represent the ideals you mention, which are in indeed worthy ideals.
Unfortunately, the word liberal in the U.S. is now associated with worshiping the state and authoritarianism (as long as the Democrats are in charge, that is). Now those who hold to those views you mention are often called libertarians (in the U.S.).
i know, and i also know that the meaning of words change over the course of time but the case of "liberal" is a peculiar one because it has been changed to mean the exact opposite of it's original meaning. i guess it's just a pet peeve of mine which is why i use it in it's proper sense.
@ALittleBitPregnant well, they can... but then they start rationalizing, how it's not a time for anarchy yet, people are too stupid, and etc... I saw it too many times..

Unlike the God, the institution of the State quite evidently exists. It's the fact, that practically all the surface of our planet's landmass is under more or less effective control of various states. This fact has some causes and some consequences, like the existence of water or the existence crows do. If XOmniverse or any other anarchists and anti-statists "reject" the State or statism, not too much will happen. "Rejecting" something like that is like "rejecting" crows or water.
If anarchists were to routinely deny the existence of the state, or at least individuals who collectively refer to themselves as a "state" or "government," I might agree with you. However, that's not a sentiment I see readily expressed. It's not "rejecting" the existence of something. It's rejecting the legitimacy and/or the functionality of something. As if that isn't obvious.
The institution of God exist in the same way the institution of the State exists. No such thing as an entity called state that make the action of the poeple into the instituion valid or not. same thing with religion. Anarchists are fighting agains people with a destructive ideology not a thing called State.
Of course you can draw many parallels between the state and religion, because they are both products of the evolution of our attempts to bring our innate sense of fairness.. right & wrong, good & evil, whatever you choose to call it, into some sort of social order.
I've got scattered notes and ramblings along these lines that I've wanted to make into an article or vid for nearly a year --- like comparing the creationist 747 argument to denial of stateless order. I think your parallels here are fantastic.
Sadly, the bulk of the youtube atheist, who are statist...this doesn't really convince them. I think they are people how only know about one area in life, and this is it for them.
Yeah, that's what I have a problem with. Bearing a certain label doesn't automatically make you something. Atheist/anarchist does not always mean free thinker.
Excellent observation. I was thinking the same thing earlier this week.
This video raises the question, are these "atheist progressives" really atheists? Or do they simply replace the Christian God with the ideological state?
Excellent. Somehow, the burden of proof always shifts to the anti-statist, when in reality statists need to prove why the extortion racket is better than an anarchist system. I have yet to see a statist do this. Never. Not once.
well almost all right

Churches, Priests, and Bibles exist. State Houses, Governors, and Constitutions also exist.

Worlds apart, dude. One is phantasmal, one is practical. As is evidenced by the tortured language you have to use in some of these juxtapositions.
Not that all of your points are invalid, of course. Rational skepticism in all things is good, as irrational ideology is bad.
This applies to theism, statism AND anarchism.

I've had this same thought before. The ideology of religion & the state are the same and manifested from similar pyschological orgins.
FatherofAlexis 2 years ago
Yep. I'd say both of them come from the Authoritarian Personality, but there could be other explanations.
