@flecktonesrock Actually, since you have it done, do you think you could record a run without the backing track being audible? Maybe on Headphones or something so all we hear is the banjer. It could at least give me a good starting point to try and transcribe from.
@RemiBrawler That's exactly what the version is that I recorded yesterday, still trying to troubleshoot the editing program. And no, I can't record anymore right now. Shooting for a magazine this weekend, supposed to leave today and completely swamped.
You have... No idea how loud I would've squee'd with joy when you first started playing on this video if my parents weren't asleep in the next room over. If you have any way that we could get this down in notation (not just tabs), I'd love to arrange this piece for an ensemble. It's just the Banjo is so rhythmic that it's hard to pick stuff out, at least when you haven't been playing long like me. But man.. Great work! I have a really hard time counting this out without anything to look at
@RemiBrawler Thanks!! I have the complete video edited and ready to render and upload....however, I'm having MAJOR issues with my editing software. As soon as those are resolved I'll upload the complete video.
@flecktonesrock Ooh yeah. Who else but the Flecktones could go into half-time and still keep it a confusing flood of notes? I saw them doing their soundcheck at the NC Museum of Art, just constantly rehearsing this piece. Howard mentioned how the night before in New York that somebody stepped on a wire and killed the power to the stage during this song. Yeeeowch!
@btmacie I was at the Raleigh show, but not fortunate enough to hear the soundcheck. Hate I missed that! And I suppose you know, but it's half time from 11/8 to 11/4, then again from 11/4 to 11/2. And yes, the flood of notes keeps coming!
@btmacie I did check it out, thanks!! What did Bela say immediately after the ending? It would have been cool to hear their critiques and discussions. Thanks for sharing!!
@flecktonesrock I think he was saying "try that again". There were taking it section by section nonstop until they got it. It was really neat hearing it all fall into place. Because they would mess up every now and then. Particularly the timing of the single notes played behind the harmonica in the intro was throwing them off. Really interesting to watch them mess up, then all just look at each other like "What happened?" before one of them would go, "Oh that was me, sorry!"
@btmacie Thanks for the info!! I would have loved to hear that. I'm not sure what single notes behind the harmonica you're talking about....that part seems straightforward enough, relatively speaking.
You've probably heard already, but it won a Grammy!

@flecktonesrock No problems, man! I'm still amazed at what you can do. Maybe in a few decades I'll be able to play like you!

Kudos to you man, just for getting that ending! That may be really the trickiest part of the song right there!

@btmacie You are perceptive!! That ending scrambles my brain....but so does the part starting at 0:41.

@flecktonesrock It was neat seeing them polish up. I've got a video of the last few seconds of it on my channel, if you're interested.
