I was part of the 2005 study when I got implanted with what I chose in the Beverly Hills (Oprah's famous surgeon) the gummy bears size 325cc. Sounds like her breast implants were not the cause of her illnesses, but triggered pre-disposed illnesses. Sometimes a person's body just rejects foreign objects. Breast implants were obviously not for her, but it is unfair to suggest that they are the cause of illnesses in women who have chosen to undergo the procedure.
I do know what you were feeling.I had mine put in 5 years ago worst pain Ive ever had except for kids.I did my homework too before hand. I was down for six to eight weeks I was sick all the time and still am.Sometimes in the night I go to roll over and the pain is so bad it wakes me up and I can't move. This was the worst mistake.
Thank you for sharing your story. It is very brave of you. I am glad you are feeling better. I found it interesting that you had round saline implants and you still had these problems. I'm sorry that happened to you but I don't think you should put the idea into every female's mind that if they get breast surgery, they will be sick like you. You have a different body type than some other women who are just fine after their surgeries.

Only a very tiny % of women with BI's have issues like this woman, and it is thought by some to be psychologically related; i.e. hypochondriacs or munchausen syndrome (induced by low-self esteem). I had my implants for 8 years and had to get mine out too.... they made me sick. I feel so much better now. I hated not being able to sleep on my stomach and they way they looked.... yuck. When you lay on your back the implants stand straight up lol

I also researched Lasik eye surgery on You Tube and will not have that done either - the long term effects are so unbearable that some people have killed themselves over the pain/discomfort. I had my breast implants done in South America at the MakeOverTravel clinic, the results are perfect, it's safer and much cheaper if you compare with the US. The surgeons are excellents and very profesionals

You can have SALINE implants, under the muscle and via the armpit. You can still breast feed.... I cant believe you are also criticizing mothers who dont choose to breast feed. Some mothers simply cannot - through many reasons - one being inverted nipples. Would you criticize them for surgery to correct this so that they could breast feed a baby? 8 months ago I had silicone gel implants put in . I now have horrible pains in all my joints. I am being tested for Rhumatoid arthritis and lupus. This is no joke. I saw this video before my implants and thought what you all thought. Actually, she doesn't. She talks about getting the silicone out but she doesn't say that she had silicone imlpants. She's referring to the breakdown of the silicone shell. Your immune and lymphatic system breaks down foreign objects in the body. If you have them long enough, the silicone gets into the system. Over time, the integrity of the shell degrades, and all those chemicals (over 30 of them!) begin to leak into the body. I worked for a group of Plastic Surgeons for 8+ years, I never saw an explant patient that needed a pain pump aftrewards. The entire procedure lasted less than 20 minutes. There was never any solid proof that substansiated the sickness claims. In fact, the so called "bad" silicone implants are now legal again and available to women who had theirs removed, and want them replaced.
She has a genenetic pre disposition? I think implants are a bad idea as well, but this video smacks of being fake. She gets the implants out, and then goes and gets a whole table of 32 bottles of over the counter supplements and pills and 'vitamins' only 2 of which are from her doctor. If this is real she's probably gonna overdose on one of those vitamins or supplements. I know people in nursing homes who are diabetic or whatnot who dont take that many pills per day of anything.

sooratee2008, there isn't any action against these surgeries because only a SMALL number of people have a problem with the procedure. She just explained that she has a GENETIC reason for reacting to the implant like she did. I know many women who have the implants and have never had any problems with them.
DON'T get this done, if you already THINK it will go wrong. Avoid it, because should it go wrong, you will not be able to deal with all the stress, so it isn't worth the risk for you.
Jibbie49 there are MANY women that become ill after implants. The issue is that it is very political, lots of money. If they did the type of testing they should, they wouldn't be using them. I AM SICK from them. I have elevated ANA, mixed connective tissue disorder, thyroid issues etc. If you take Lipitor, they check your liver funciton. It is KNOWN, that auto immune disorders are common with implants, so why wouldn't they check for this? Becuase it would be costly. I'm being explanted on 12/9

While there can be complications, today's implants are much safer than those of the past. If you follow your surgeons instructions you should be fine. I've seen patients that once their stitches are removed they never return for their post-op follow-ups. Show up for you follow-ups, follow the instructions and call your surgeon if anything seems out of the ordinary and you will be fine.
While although I applaud that you found the trigger for your illness, you are not cured by removing your implants. As a "scientist" you should know, that removing the trigger doesn't cure you. You still have those diseases. And I agree with most posts here, telling women NOT to get implants is very ignorant on your part. Just because you had the problems doesn't mean everyone will. Funny more than informative.
I don't want to be rude, but something tells me she's not a scientist. The word "symtom" in the end caught my eye. I really don't think scientists would misspell. But who am I to know the truth, anyway? That doesn't mean I deny that she had problems and suffered and finally took some steps to regain her health. As for her condition, it is a special one that caused problems, so not a reason to tell others not to do implants, but rather to test for this genetic predisposition, just in case.

I have had two sets of breast implants. I started with saline, kept them for 5 years. Went back to get my silicone. I love them!!! I am now a 34 DDD. I have had no health problems at all. I could not be happier, they are absolutely perfect!! I think the lady speaking on this vid is a hypochondriac(no disrespect intended). I just have to say... I love my BOOBS :)
Chin up. I had my implants removed 5 years ago and am soooo much better. I still struggle w/illness as my immune system still hasn't fully recovered. I sometimes wonder if some women are just genetically pre disposed to have an extreme negative response to silicone. Or if given enough time, all implanted women will have proplems. I have noticed that unless a person has been made sick by their implants, they refuse to believe implants are unsafe. I was just like that. I was so naive.

My father actually just got out of the hospital from hyponatremia. He wasn't drinking distilled water, but drinking mass quantities of water in a short amount of time will still flush out your solutes. We came home from a vacation and found him on the floor completely delerious. He wouldn't respond to any stimulation except for touch. He was in the hospital for five days, but he's on the road to recovery now. He has severe memory problems now, and can't think very clearly because of water.

It's been a year since the explant (I'm the woman in this video). I never expected so many YouTube views and so many responses. Thanks to everyone who has offered kind words. To those who have called me crazy, a liar, ugly, stupid, fake, and everything else under the sun in an effort to discredit my statement...think what you want, but this was my experience. Before I had implants I watched MTV's "I want a famous face" and saw videos of women whose health was ruined by implants...
......) I did not want to believe it was possible. My implanting surgeon still claims it is not possible; his income depends on the denials. My health continues to improve after the explant. I'm still not 100% better, back to my state of health before the implants. I have problems with energy levels and with really cold temperatures due to Raynauds. But the good news is, my rheumatoid arthritis and breast pain are gone.

There have been unbiaised scientific studies done & none of the claims of illness you made can be scientifically, anotomically or even logically linked to having breast augmentation. It is a major surgery & should only be completed by qualified and formerly trained plastic surgeons, but your claims are completely unfounded, unfortunate yes and untimely but, cannot be linked to breast augmentation.

I'm not sure how much of her problems were physical as much as they were mental....
But then again this goes to show how the Doctor's should have pre-screened her prior to the surgery. I doubt she would have passed a psychological exam.
Breast implants are not about what men want, it's about how you feel about yourself. Confidence has a huge impact on people. If the boobs are going to make you more confident about yourself, then enjoy them and flash them around. ;)
The point, though, is to flash them around AT men.
No matter how you say it, at the end of the day, the boobs are about getting sex and attention from men. Women gain confidence from the implants because guys will look at them. To put it simply, the confidence comes from sex, and nothing else. Therefore, it's unhealthy. Not only because it's only about sex, but about something false; a lie. Confidence should be found elsewhere, but that doesn't seem possible nowadays.
I'm a little be on the non believer side. She's a wearing a black top at the beginning of the video and no sleeves. People with Renards typically are cold no matter how hot it is outside. Then at the end of the video she's again wearing a black tank top. You can't tell from the video if she even had implants to begin with. I'm guessing this is some sort of propaganda video. Now i'm not saying things like this don't accour i'm just not believing this woman.
The takeaway phrase here is when you said "you're playing Russian roulette" -- with five bullets and one empty chamber. After three kids, my sweetie was thinking of implants and we did some research and nixed it because it seemed like almost a given that something would go wrong somewhere down the line. I've got an autoimmune disease myself and it's no picnic. Health isn't something to take for granted. I'm glad you recovered.

I was part of the 2005 study when I got implanted with what I chose in the Beverly Hills (Oprah's famous surgeon) the gummy bears size 325cc. Everyone was my friend in the office, until I got home after surgery and I had horrible pain in my body, hart palpitation, panic attacks, rashes +++. The beginning of a nightmare. Sounds like her breast implants were not the cause of her illnesses, but triggered pre-disposed illnesses. Sometimes a person's body just rejects foreign objects. Breast implants were obviously not for her, but it is unfair to suggest that they are the cause of illnesses in women who have chosen to undergo the procedure.

I do know what you were feeling.I had mine put in 5 years ago worst pain Ive ever had except for kids.I did my homework too before hand. I was down for six to eight weeks I was sick all the time and still am.Sometimes in the night I go to roll over and the pain is so bad it wakes me up and I can't move. This was the worst mistake.

More than half of the flap breast reconstructions don't get pain pumps. Actually, she doesn't. She talks about getting the silicone out but she doesn't say that she had silicone imlpants. She's referring to the breakdown of the silicone shell. Your immune and lymphatic system breaks down foreign objects in the body. If you have them long enough, the silicone gets into the system. I worked for a group of Plastic Surgeons for 8+ years, I never saw an explant patient that needed a pain pump aftrewards. The entire procedure lasted less than 20 minutes. There was never any solid proof that substansiated the sickness claims. In fact, the so called "bad" silicone implants are now legal again and available to women who had theirs removed, and want them replaced.

She has a genenetic pre disposition? I think implants are a bad idea as well, but this video smacks of being fake. She gets the implants out, and then goes and gets a whole table of 32 bottles of over the counter supplements and pills and 'vitamins' only 2 of which are from her doctor. If this is real she's probably gonna overdose on one of those vitamins or supplements. I know people in nursing homes who are diabetic or whatnot who dont take that many pills per day of anything.

sooratee2008, there isn't any action against these surgeries because only a SMALL number of people have a problem with the procedure. She just explained that she has a GENETIC reason for reacting to the implant like she did. I know many women who have the implants and have never had any problems with them.
DON'T get this done, if you already THINK it will go wrong. Avoid it, because should it go wrong, you will not be able to deal with all the stress, so it isn't worth the risk for you.

I AM SICK from them. I have elevated ANA, mixed connective tissue disorder, thyroid issues etc. If you take Lipitor, they check your liver funciton. It is KNOWN, that auto immune disorders are common with implants, so why wouldn't they check for this? Becuase it would be costly. I'm being explanted on 12/9

While there can be complications, today's implants are much safer than those of the past. If you follow your surgeons instructions you should be fine. I've seen patients that once their stitches are removed they never return for their post-op follow-ups. Show up for you follow-ups, follow the instructions and call your surgeon if anything seems out of the ordinary and you will be fine.

I don't want to be rude, but something tells me she's not a scientist. The word "symtom" in the end caught my eye. I really don't think scientists would misspell. But who am I to know the truth, anyway? That doesn't mean I deny that she had problems and suffered and finally took some steps to regain her health. As for her condition, it is a special one that caused problems, so not a reason to tell others not to do implants, but rather to test for this genetic predisposition, just in case.

I have had two sets of breast implants. I started with saline, kept them for 5 years. Went back to get my silicone. I love them!!! I am now a 34 DDD. I have had no health problems at all. I could not be happier, they are absolutely perfect!! I think the lady speaking on this vid is a hypochondriac(no disrespect intended). I just have to say... I love my BOOBS :)

Chin up. I had my implants removed 5 years ago and am soooo much better. I still struggle w/illness as my immune system still hasn't fully recovered. I sometimes wonder if some women are just genetically pre disposed to have an extreme negative response to silicone. Or if given enough time, all implanted women will have proplems. I have noticed that unless a person has been made sick by their implants, they refuse to believe implants are unsafe. I was just like that. I was so naive.

My father actually just got out of the hospital from hyponatremia. He wasn't drinking distilled water, but drinking mass quantities of water in a short amount of time will still flush out your solutes. We came home from a vacation and found him on the floor completely delerious. He wouldn't respond to any stimulation except for touch. He was in the hospital for five days, but he's on the road to recovery now. He has severe memory problems now, and can't think very clearly because of water.

......) I did not want to believe it was possible. My implanting surgeon still claims it is not possible; his income depends on the denials. My health continues to improve after the explant. I'm still not 100% better, back to my state of health before the implants. I have problems with energy levels and with really cold temperatures due to Raynauds. But the good news is, my rheumatoid arthritis and breast pain are gone.

Surgeons should always test for that genetic predosposition.. and any allergies to, say, silicon and related material. But that many supplements will make ANYONE feel good.. wow. post an update, it's been ten months..

There have been unbiaised scientific studies done & none of the claims of illness you made can be scientifically, anotomically or even logically linked to having breast augmentation. It is a major surgery & should only be completed by qualified and formerly trained plastic surgeons, but your claims are completely unfounded, unfortunate yes and untimely but, cannot be linked to breast augmentation.

But then again this goes to show how the Doctor's should have pre-screened her prior to the surgery. I doubt she would have passed a psychological exam.
Breast implants are not about what men want, it's about how you feel about yourself. Confidence has a huge impact on people. If the boobs are going to make you more confident about yourself, then enjoy them and flash them around. ;)

No matter how you say it, at the end of the day, the boobs are about getting sex and attention from men. Women gain confidence from the implants because guys will look at them. To put it simply, the confidence comes from sex, and nothing else. Therefore, it's unhealthy. Not only because it's only about sex, but about something false; a lie. Confidence should be found elsewhere, but that doesn't seem possible nowadays.

I'm a little be on the non believer side. She's a wearing a black top at the beginning of the video and no sleeves. People with Renards typically are cold no matter how hot it is outside. Then at the end of the video she's again wearing a black tank top. You can't tell from the video if she even had implants to begin with. I'm guessing this is some sort of propaganda video. The takeaway phrase here is when you said "you're playing Russian roulette" -- with five bullets and one empty chamber. After three kids, my sweetie was thinking of implants and we did some research and nixed it because it seemed like almost a given that something would go wrong somewhere down the line. I've got an autoimmune disease myself and it's no picnic. Health isn't something to take for granted. I'm glad you recovered.

I find it hard to believe you acquired all these illnesses from SALINE implants. Silcone, maybe. My sister had the immune and arthritic problems. We all thought it was her SILICONE implants.
