The Post Office will always be in financial trouble because it's customers, you and me, demand an unsustainable level of service. UPS and FedEx serve a small niche portion of the mail/parcel delivery industry. Force them to deliver the same broad service the USPS does and watch what would happen to their charges/rates. Agree. After UPS & FedEx came onto the market, USPS tried 2 do overnight, etc. But they failed miserably. Hell, they can't even deliver first class mail without first shredding it (thanks goodness our government doesn't control e-mail.)
