I saw my first Major league Baseball game there! It was an Angels game, my uncle took me there. I was two years old. My Mom and her brothers watched the Pacific Coast League Los Angeles Angels play there too. They hated the Hollywood Stars Team. To bad they tore it down, but that's progress for you. I miss that stadium.
The Dodger's sign is there since the Dodgers are the number one team in Southern California and the Little League team wants to be associated with a winner. Also the parents of those kids that play there want to make sure their children do not fail geography later on in school. The Angels have no clue that they are not in LA city or county. Can you say Thomas Guide or GPS Angel's management?
I think the date of destruction is wrong. Why? I just viewed the second season of Mannix on DVD. In the final episode, titled something about a rabbit, the ballfield is heavily featured, a shootout occurs there etc. That episode is copyrighted 1969. I think it was dilapidated and perhaps partly damaged, but it was not torn down before early 69 methinks.
@Network23549 Because the agreement was that the dodgers play at Wrigley when first they came to LA and later share their ballpark with the Angels, of course Walter O"Malley renegated on that. That is why they have the dodgers sign, also a reminder that they stole the cap from the Angels
home run derby show at wrigley field in L.A. was cool!
