@JoeFromCO Yes, you can run the mic straight thru by pressing the vocoder and the exit/shift button. It's the coolest piece of gear I have ever purchased. Get one immediately, it's amazing.

@JoeFromCO the vocoder setting has "Audio In" but it shouldn't be used in place of a real mic or anything. I use it to sing on my demos sometimes when I dont want to hook up my condenser mic.
Hey. the reason this is happening is because you have key sync on. As soon as you turn it off this problem should go away. Most likely you will be able to change this by going to your main appregio settings. I don't have a Mico XL but i do have an orgianl Microkorg. I had the same problems until i turned keysync off. Now i never have it on. Hope this helps you and any1 who is interested in buying these synths.
dude its complicated at first. but once you get into it and just get past the first learning curve of all these parameters that do a billion things, its really really easy. trust me.
@HypnoticCyclone don't be bothered. The uploader of this video doesn't understand it either. He's complaining about one specific patch that is apparently monophonic and the key priority is set to the first key. But the damn thing is programmable !
@HypnoticCyclone, don't get me wrong but I wouldn't suggest that you get the XL until you learn the absolute basic terms involved in musical equipment, such as "XLR" (aka microphone jack). Google is your best friend on this one. Naturally, it's your choice but 500 bucks or whatever it costs in the States is quite a lot of money to dish out if you just want to emulate your favourite breakdowns. I have a microKORG and an XL and I'd suggest the microkorg for the Happy Harcoreish screamo stuff.
Of course you can program those kinds of patches on the XL but you'll have to learn something about synths first unless you want your breakdowns to consist of flutes, sampled Wurlitzers and Moog-esque phat monophonic basses with a sprinkle of trance sounds on the side.
@HypnoticCyclone im on the same boat as you brother! please help me if you find something to better your own understanding...i play synth for a hardcore band..i use a Korg R3 and im prolly gunna get a microKorg XL
you would have to record the xl using line in or through a sound card/audio interface/mixer. if you use midi then you can't use the sounds from the xl afaik.
I own one of these. You can record a track in MIDI, edit it, then set your DAW to arm an audio track for recording, and do a record with playback. The synth will generate the sounds according to the MIDI data, and that will be recorded. You can then mute the MIDI track, and just roll with the audio.
Absolutely. Of course, if you're using vocoder effects, that modulation must be done realtime via the XLR input, but you could record via MIDI the keyboarding, then do the vocoder part with it while doing an audio freeze of that track.
Hey man, just reading your information up there. I think I know what you mean by the choppiness. If you think that it shud play more than one sound, then change the program type from Mono to Poly in the settings area. But, if you mean the arps changing, the thing youre looking for ia called Key Sync in Arp settings. Hope that helps. If its something else, gimme a shout.
that sounds very Rebecca Black - Friday! = immediate HATE! :)

Dude. You can "fix" this. It's called "Key Sync"
Here's what you do if you don't already know:
Alright so in the upper right corner there's four knobs, right?
Use the Top left knob to select "Full Edit"
--> Then left filter knob to "ARP TEMPO"
----> Then middle filter knob all the way to the right so it says "Key Sync"
------> Then right filter knob to choose either on or off.
You will immediately hear the change when playing arps.

@nickleus1977 Alright man, I actually thought you'd might - considering the video is quite old and all.
Anyway, now others will know as well! ;]

I've had that problem also and found that if you go into full edit you can change the arp setting "key sync" to off and it will fix that.

Try reducing the amount of steps in your arpeggio. That might make it sound less choppy. Just cut it by one or so.
