  • Hey, snowfy, so good to see you again!

I was commenting that this is a silly way to write poetry, imo, but then recalled that you said you're studying Art Therapy -- so for that, I would say it is of value.

    Happy Holidays! ^_^

  • Hi snowfeet.

    I regret I didn't get to participate...though I wanted to.

I look forward to seeing the end result though.

  • Seriously though, what's the name of the music playing in this video? It sounds so good.

  • Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I was trying to see whether I could find out the artist. This was just a mixed cd of some beats made for me by a friend. I wish I knew the artist, but I've got no idea.

  • @PLooBzor This might be a late answer, but the song playing is the Trentemøller remix of Röyksopp's What Else Is There (video @ v=u3njX4nSO5U).

  • @lou5y Much appreciated, thank you!

  • hi, what's the music playing in the background?

    Great idea btw.

  • QualiaSoup really made something out of this.

  • Yes, I agree. His video is the same amazing quality we've come to expect from such a brilliant individual. I'm stoked to have his contribution. Every user's take on this poem has both surprised and pleased me.

  • This is an AWESOME idea.

  • Thanks, HRRyan2. I'm glad you like the idea. It has sure been fun.

  • Der Worte sind genug gewechselt,

laßt mich auch endlich Taten sehen!

    Enough words have been exchanged,

now at last let me see some deeds!

    Goethe, Faust 1

  • I want to comment but it won't let me! AAAAAH!

  • You're here, Ben.

  • but I can't post reply comments!

  • and now it does.

  • It's working, it's working. Now write something for the poem. Jump in on a 3rd or 4th line. It would be great to get some longer poems. Well, just write something where you feel inspired.

  • sometimes i'm sleeping

my brain listens to the radio

and I wake up singing a song I've never head before

a black angel is under a neon light dancing with a white dwarf

  • Very nice! Thank you for this.

  • The percolator sputters its morning song as it brings the smells of awake, my mind still singing.

  • The song it sings is one of love, the smells of waking reek of loneliness (reply to fromruinstudio's lines)

  • this is a brilliant idea....found you through tinyspectacle and made a response to her line. looking forward to watching how this all unfolds. ; )

  • Thanks for the support, artworksalive. I'm so glad you like the idea. The 2nd and 3rd lines people are writing have gone in such wonderful directions already. I'm eager to see yours, so I'll head there with no further delay.

  • Great to see you posting again, Sophe! I hope your studies have been going well. ;^>

What a wonderful idea. Like a kind of 'Exquisite Corpse' poem, only you get to see the body... It'll be intriguing to watch it grow and I look forward to hearing the results, especially with contributors like tinySpectacles and Link.

  • Hi Doug,

WONDERFUL to see you here. Grad school has swallowed me whole, and this is the first project I've managed to bring to YT. I had to get a new camera first, and then I had to battle with my 'camera shy self.' I mumble terribly, but the video is here.

Yes, good call on the Exquisite Corpse reference! Now I hope you'll find time to write a line somewhere. I wanted to sketch you too, but I know you rarely show your face. You could participate vocally, you know. (Wishing you would)

  • I'll definitely be writing a line or two - it's already branching out in intriguing directions. I can see it running and running way after your show.

Must say, I'm relieved the deadline's mid-December. I'm currently laying low with virtually immobilizing flu, so it might be a week or so before me and my brain are more mobile(!) ;^>

  • Get well soon! I can't help but make those big "awe" sounds and wish I could make you soup. Have you got something trendy like the swine flu? No matter. Get better soon, dear friend. I would love to have your voice be a part of this project, but mostly I just wish you well. The world is a brighter place when your brain and body are mobile. <3

  • I loved your video, and I added a line of my own. Unfortunately I do not have your good voice, but please check out my added line anyhow.

  • Ooo! I've just watched/listened to your video. You're voice is terrific. You've done well, keeping the same cool, dreamy atmosphere. QualiaSoup is a tough act to follow, but you've impressed me with the same skill in language. Thank you so much for participating in this project!

  • What?! Chicago, the home of floating school board presidents?!!...Christ.

    Try to stay safe. ;)

  • Hello xy11xy! It's nice to see your words here. Yeah, that's pretty rough news about the school board president. Chicago's a long way from New Zealand, to be sure! I appreciate your concern for my welfare. You keep warm up there. : ) Oh and hey, jump in with a line on the poem project. We'd love to have you.

  • Hey! I recognized some of your cartoon YouTubers... How cool is that?

  • @fehquig Sweet. Well, I know you recognized TheraminTrees, because I just copy pasted his handsome face. : )

  • This is an exciting project! Great opening line! And I've been following the off-shoots — some beautiful responses. I have something in mind for a line 4 but I wondered about the time limit on this — you said the end of your semester, when is that? I'm also assuming you'll want some collating time?

  • TheraminTrees, it would be such a pleasure to see your words in one of these threads. I will be collating the poems at each new addition, so *hopefully* I won't be stuck with a whopping amount of work right at the end. The show is about a week into December, so I didn't leave much time, but things will continue on YT for as long as people contribute. <3

  • In german it sounds like this:

    Manchmal wenn ich schlafe

    hört mein Gehirn Radio

und ich wache auf, ein Lied singend, das ich noch nie zuvor gehört habe.

  • Good luck with this project. I will be interested in following each new contribution as well as your final results.

  • Wow!

It's soooo nice to see you again!

  • Hello msg, it's nice to be back. Thanks for the kind words.

  • GAH! YAY!! You're BACK!! This made my day :)

I don't feel very poetic at the moment though so I won't burden the thread with something awful.

  • Nothing you'd say would be a burden, but I know how being creative on demand can be a tough thing. Maybe you'll be struck by inspiration tomorrow. : )

  • Hi snowfeet, can you write down your first line. As a german I have problems in understandings. As I understand it you have said something with radio but in the two newest vids there is no radio. So your first line is different from the first lines in the new vids? Sorry and perhaps I don't understand nothing.

  • Hiya Oliver. Sure thing, I'll write it out. (I mumble a bit in the video, so that makes it tough to hear even for native english speakers.)

    Sometimes when I am sleeping

my brain listens to the radio

and I wake up singing a song I've never heard before.

If you'd like to write a line in German, that could be super cool.

  • Welcome, my brother and best friend live in Chicago, well my brother's in Chawmburg or something right outside Chicago.

I have no camera at the moment but will work on that later in the week, I'll try to pick up a thread somewhere. Good luck.

  • Hi DansLookingGlass,

Thanks for the welcome. Shoot me a PM if you're ever in the city visiting.

I was thinking maybe we should run a poem that could be written in text for those who don't have cameras. What do you think? If you don't find a camera, maybe you could post a 2nd line in a comment.

  • Glad you're back!

  • Thank you, it's nice to be back. (I finally got a new camera. Now I'm making widescreen stuff, fancy, eh?)

  • Looks great! I'd help you out with the poetry, but is just not one of my fortes. Good luck on the graduate work!

  • Very cool Idea;-).

  • Thanks, Boucrate. Maybe you could sing a line...

  • AWESOME idea. I'm thrilled!!! :) I'm all for it, sister.

  • Woo-hoo!!!

  • You live in Chicago? Well Hello sort of occasional neighbour, I have occasion to find myself in that neck of the woods, a trend I suspect will go on for some time into the future : )

Fun fun fun.. I think I will see how it comes together by morning and try to think something up somewhere before it ends.

  • qmog! Hey, let me know next time you're going to be in Chicago. We can meet for a coffee. I'd love to see you in person.

Please do try to write something for this poem. You've said such beautiful things in past videos.

  • I just posted a video response. :-)

I hope you like it. I think people can work off of it; it has nice potential (IMHO).

  • Thanks, Cousino, I can't wait to see it.

  • God, I can't continue such an awesome poetic line... Sorry -.-

  • Shush! You can do better!

  • @snowfeet :D

I doubt it, but thanks for your vote of confidence.

If you don't mind me asking, did you right that poetic line? Or did you find it, because that sounds allot like something I've heard/thought I heard before.

Especially the bit about singing songs, you've never heard before. :D

  • @TheReasonWhyGuy

    CORRECTION!!!

"did you right that poetic line?"

did you *write* that poetic line?

  • Hello ReasonWhyGuy,

Yes--at least I *think* I wrote that poem. I'd been struggling trying to pick what line to use for a few days now, and I just settled on that one because I thought it had potential to go a number of different ways.

  • "It's been a while"

    A WHILE!? XD

    understatement of the century...
