The interview with CNN was on a (then) recent embed to Iraq, in which I had helped get a puppy out and back to the mother of a fallen troop. Start of a process that has grown (see Baghdad Pups). Figured being in with a bunch of wolves was good practice for dealing with reporters.
I have a neighbor down the street who had 3 Alaskan Timber wolves about 10 years ago. (this was when he lived in a different neighborhood). It's now illegal to own a wolf or even a hybrid in the state of Maryland where we live. The amazing thing is that he had three wolves right in the middle of a crowded suburban area and never had any issues. He did a good job of escape proofing his yard and understood how to live with them.
A serious injury from a Wolf could be a simple bite. A wolf's jaw pressure is TREMENDOUS. In most cases I would think that as long as you stay calm and don't make any sudden moves, they'll be more curious than anything else.
Although wolves in captivity are no doubt, still wild animals due to their genes, I never cease to be amazed at how they can interact with humans. I guess the key is interacting with them is that you MUST do it on their terms or you could get seriously injured.
You do have to go in on their terms -- these are habituated to humans, which simply means flight distance has been reduced to zero. That said, wolves are social groomers and have figured out we can groom like no other wolf, make most of it.
Wolves are amazing creature. This is excellent prep for an interview with CNN- ROTFL!! Actually, I'd rather take my chances with the lobos than CNNers. After they aired, and for all I know still air, propaganda vid shot by terrorists killing American Troops, I gave up on them. I was a devotee of Aaron Brown until they canned him. Liked Anderson for a bit and then he unmasked himself as a pod people. To have a wolf ask all about you, sniffing your breath, making introductions, wow. I'm jealous.
LOL nice film reference, real clever. And it's DANCES with wolves...That was the name of one of the natives in the film. I'd suggest actually seeing it. :P

Very interesting. What are some specific examples of this which you've experienced in working first hand with Wolves?
