  • Nice elevator but interesting motor.

  • Indeed it's true.

  • Yes, it sure does.

  • The door opens before it stops.

  • Yes, I am glad too, because of the noise, oil, high maintenance, and low reliability. I hope Otis, ThyssenKrupp, and Schindler follow suit.

  • otis already did with their gen2s

  • Yes, since they now have the Gen2-L series.

  • what does L mean?

  • "L" stands for "Low-Rise", and comes in 3 speeds, which are 100 FPM for 2-3 floors, 150 FPM for 4-5 floors, and 200 FPM for 6-7 floors.

  • I'm glad Kone discontinued hydraulics. That one didn't sound too good.

  • And Kone hydrualics are very rare in Hong Kong, probably only traces of examples exist.

  • Nice chime. By the way, why do most of the kone elevators make click noises when they go up? Mostly hydraulic. Oh and that chime on 0.41 to 0.43 sounds so much like the otis elevator chimes.

  • Maybe that's the floor selector relay that clicks. And it's interesting how the chimes are used on both Otis and Kone elevators.

  • Yeah, I noticed that too. Why do you think they do that?

  • I think it can act as a floor signal if the electronic signal burns out.

  • Yes, it has a rather pleasing sound.

  • I love the chime when it goes down.

  • Maybe it was the death trap that was derived from the Montgomery Twinkie-M elevators.

  • Looks like it had a rough start when going up when getting in motion.
