@suemarnamosdp I got a chance to see them both in the same night,Lord rocks much harder with his classic Hammond sound. Emerson tends to get carried away with silly synthesizer sounds ,nevertheless we'll never see musicians of this calibre ever again, music today has been taken over by no-talent hip-hop rap monkeys
I miss such sound experiments on todays "Deep Purple" .. They're still better than most of todays bands, but they absolutely can't be compared to themselves in the 70ties
never into keyboards until i heard deep purple, then again, no other keyboardist will open up the thing and play it from the inside. also look at how unorthadoxly blackmore plays that solo and still has some out of this world sound coming out of it. very few bands can have every single member of it a master of their instrument like this one
@cuthulhu6708 Deep Purple in 1970/71 was unique. They were uncompromising, raw, on-the-edge... well, you get the drift. This recording is on of the best to show them of in that time frame (like I've mentioned before right here(!)). It's not for everyone, but that's fine by me. If they wanna lidten to top 40 dittys, then...
@suemarnamosdp Yeah, allthough technically, that's Space Truckin' with the MR improv framework added. Besides... I don't much care for the MIJ improv... Organ section is fine, but that guitar section is not among Ritchies finest moments IMO. He sounds drunk.
Of all the versions I've found of MR on the net, this is the best. The best recorded one is still the one on the In Concert album (cut on the 7th of January 1970), but this one comes close- VERY close- for its sheer energy. Now, if you'd known me very well, that is praise(!). And yeah, in case you still feel the urge to ask, I am a hopeless early mk. II Deep Purple fanatic...
WOW ! AMAZING !!!!!!!! Like always the very best from the masters of the hard rock improvisations ....

If there are senseless things you can do on guitar and they sound awful... let RITCHIE do it....then it will get sense and it will sound great....

Fantastic version. Looks like Jon learned some keyboard party tricks from Keith Emerson.
