@fctar The textures and 3D models in this game are significantly inferior to PS2 games such as Dead or Alive 2 and Virtua Fighter 4. Virtua Fighter 2 looks very primitive.
Model 2 could only handle 300,000 polygons a second.
@suavelyphe No way, it's too much a part of his image. Case in point, all those hair styles in VF5, which I don't think suit him at all (of course, his character has pretty much degraded at that point but that's another story).
This looks more like the Model 2 arcade version than the Japan-only PlayStation2 version, which is also an emulation of Model2, but the PS2 version is noticably downgraded in terms of colors & texture-mapping.
I dont know why they downgraded anything, Virtua Fighter 2 was not that graphically complex for a PS2. Dead or Alive 2 is more complex with moving backgrounds and effects etc. Must be down to lazy programming.
As stated by airraid7777, VF2 on the PS2 running on top of an emulator, and the PS2 isn't powerful enough to another 3D machine at full speed. Dead or Alive 2 is a port, which is native code, which means the game should perform better than an emualtion.
Well, the PS2 isn't powerful enough to emulate any 90's era 3D machine at full speed without reduced detail. Hell, it can't even run Hard Drivin' on an emulator at full speed and that's a 3D game from the 80's.
I think Sega had several games that ran on Model 1/2 hardware for the Sega Ages release on the PS2. It's more economical to write one emulator to run 5 games than to write 5 ports for 5 games. You gotta realize these were BUDGET releases sold for cheap.
Hard Drivin' was at least 30fps on the original hardware.
Model 2 is a lot more complex and a lot more advanced than ANY of the 32-bit system (N64/PSX/Saturn) so I can't see why you even brought PSP emulation into this when it can't even emulate the N64 at full speed.

This game was made in 1994.
It looks like a PS2 game.

@CCharmanderK This doesn't look anywhere near PS2 quality, look up Virtua Fighter 4 on the PS2 compared to this.

So why did they emulate it instead of just porting it. Laziness.

Hard Driving arcade runs about 5 frames per second I doubt it cant emulate that.
A PSP can run an N64 Emulator at 15 frames per second.

Hard Drivin is a infinitely more primitive then an N64 game, yet you claim the PS2 cannot emulate it full speed!
If a PSP can emulate an N64 at half speed in many cases, then a PSP can emulate a primitive game like Hard Drivin.
ojideagu 2 years ago
The PSP alone emulates the PSX 100% full speed. If sony wanted they could create a near Full Speed N64 emulater
Please don't insult us with Hard Drivin which would be like emulating Pac Man.

Awesome thanks for posting! I have it for Saturn I can say this looks and sounds 10x better.
