  • question do they turn the whole tower off? are you getting irradiated??

  • @davetileguy

What do you mean, "turn the tower off?" The tower doesn't do anything but hold the antennas up - and he's probably working on the rx antenna so he doesn't get burned from the RF.

  • @o5iiawah I ment the antennas ,maybe theres one switch to the whole tower,I don't know thats why I'm asking,I reckognize the "tower" isn't energized If I ask you to turn the power of at the breaker box in your house I think we both know the "box" is only holding the breakers, right?

  • @davetileguy Most of the equipment has individual isolators, so you only turn off what you need to.

Tower structure itself is very well grounded.

  • @KG84C Yes but aren't there other towers focusing radio and microwave beams at that tower?

  • @o5iiawah lol Cell antennas dont put out enough RF to burn you. You could spend all day up there and not feel a thing. its the Broadcast antennas that will hurt, and quick...

  • @bigsteeljoey actually bring in front of a transmit cell antenna for a as little as 8 minutes can cause jewelery to heat up and direct exposure can lead to RF burns - now, if you are behind a beam antenna, you are ok. AM/FM antennas will cook the hell out of you. Take it from someone in the industry who works in front of enough antennas and has been through enough training.

  • The reason everything is rated at 310 lbs is because the forces induced on the body will be limited to 900/1800 lbs for a six foot fall. That lanyard and energy absorber MUST hold 5000 lbs after a full deployment, (it is the law). If a climber weighs over 310 lbs with tools, then what is he to do? Call the lanyard manufacturer and give them his weight and they will send him info of how much force he will be subjected to in a maximum six foot fall. be safe up there

  • i heard you fart

  • He is safe the way he is tied off. There is only one energy absorber. If there were two EAs then he would be in danger of hip loading if he fell. There is no chance, of the dorsal d-ring ripping out, it's rated at 5k.

  • @bluemopar1970 Actually, he's not safe. T- booms are not man rated. He IS tied back to the tower, but that lanyard is rated for a man up to 310 pounds, If that T-boom that his positioning lanyard is attached to fails (and you KNOW it does happen) that extra 300-400 pounds is going to destroy that shock pack and take him to the ground with it. I'd get a long sling to extend my positioning lanyard, attach it above the boom to the TOWER, and lean out. Uncomfortable, but a HELL of a lot safer!

  • Your actually not suppose to have both safety's attached at the same time except for switching from one to another. having both attached might not let the shock absorbning pack to work therefore doing more damage to you or the belt which could result in the back D-ring ripping and falling even though that is unlikely to happen but could.

  • with protectiion... pfffffffffffff, noob!

  • I wonder what happens if he drops a tool

  • headshot

  • @rrrcorvesco He yells headache and the guys on the ground take cover.

  • wtf???

  • @jdougherty1109 it‘s called redundancy! geesh

  • No jdougherty-he is not scared-unlike you he is real smart and wants to live a long and happy life. You might want to take a look back at your sorry training-or did you have any at all?

  • lmao...why do you have both d-cells attached..either scared or untrained

  • @jdougherty1109 You can tie off with both lanyards if they are attached to the same shock pack. If your double lanyard has a separate shock pack for each lanyard, then you can't. Either way, that boom is not man rated. If it fails, it's taking him to the ground with it.

  • Hold that in, and go to the nurses office if you have to do it again!

  • NICE, and FART AT 38 seconds

  • At 36-38 seconds.. did you fart?

  • @freespeachrulez yea I heard the fart @ 38 seconds.

  • bottom feds are coming back. i'll take my grigory and mini block over a ladder any day.

  • yes "T" booms suck, but hell thats just a nuther day at the office. LOL

  • Terrible Installer :(

  • I love climbing, but T booms suck. I have a ladder that makes that job easier.

  • Are you guys talking to each other??? How far away you. thats so cooolll! I went rapelling once and wasnt scared at lll so im pretty sure id be good at it.

  • I hate bottom fed antennas....

  • especially sealing up bottom fed quad ports with actuators in the mix as well on the end of a t boom... only thing worse is doing the same at night.
