  • WHAT SOUND SET UP ARE YOU RUNNING IN YOUR LOCOS OR IS THAT A SEPERATE SET UP?

  • B E A U T I F U L. We just love this hobby!!!

  • My husband and I are watching this. It reminds us of our honeymoon on the sleeper from Taylor, Texas (home) to Chicago. Thanks!!!

  • Great layout..my grandfather was an engineer on the TRRA both steam and diesel

  • Nicely done.

  • INCRÍVEL!!! Nas cenas da cidade nem parece que é maquete! Parabéns, que legal...

  • Wow...This is REALLY AMAZING. I love this lay out. Can you pleeeeease, tell me where did you buy all of those buildings? Or dod you scratch built them? I have an o scale New York City subway train set and want to make or buy city buildings for my lay out and what you have would be perfect for what I want. Can you please let me know? My email is miggy532@hotmail.com.....AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • Wow is the right word.

  • Wow!!! Can't quite find the words!! The buildings alone are worth high merit, but the whole city is just amazing - in both layout and execution! Well done!!!

  • Who hit the thumbs dwn button???? This is awesome!!!!

  • Vic, This an absolute credit to you. I am currently building a layout based on a city scene, as i live in Australia it will be built so that i can run New Jersey Transit or Sydney electrified suburban trains.

    Regards

    Greg

  • Wow incredible. I only wish I had the skill to make a layout of this magnitude!

  • Vic, if you get this message would you please email me at bmoore9@kc.rr.com. I am a model railroader in KC, and I just discovered this video after first finding your article in the September, 2003 MR magazine. Your work is fantastic, and I'm wondering if you offer private tours? I am an architect with the firm building the new Walmart on St. Charles Rock Road and I come to Bridgeton every month. Hope to hear from you. Brad Moore

  • Did you buy or paint the TRRA switchers?and as a St Louis native i love the hi-line...

  • Great Vedio, Trains, Sounds & Layout! ;)

  • Your talent is truly incredable!!

  • That is awesome

  • yeah dude...i see ur painted concrete barriers, weathered trash cans, engineer with his arm out the window of that ac...tell me...do u have to hide the bag when u come home from the hobby store from ur wife,?....Its ok. if u have to seems like most of us are divorced any way...good job..

  • Hi, Just amazing work and design. You have put your heart and soul into it and it shows. It reminds me of my youth in upstate NY. I live in st louis and I wish there were train layout tours we could attend. Yours would be a real treat. Your sky and clouds are so realistic , are they painted or a print? Can't wait to see your next video.

  • I want one!!!

OMG, need to breathe so i can type, this is unreal, WOW, this is Beyond Beautiful, It reminded me of home town in Jersey, So realistic and awesome. OMG. Great JOB.

  • are your high rise building scratch built or kits?

  • Extra "O" Measures

  • Awsome !!

agree with the last post please post how to or learn more about video's

  • Everyone else has already said the words that I would use. But this is a gorgeous layout. I love the bridge and the city scene. Excellent job on this and would like to learn more about it.

  • Excuse me but I must reach down to pick up my lower jaw from the floor and put my eyes back in my sockets. Layouts this good do strange things to the human face :).

  • The city section of the layout is 3ft. in depth and 24ft in length.

  • Awesome city scene. How deep is the scene? I'm desigining a layout based on the NYC in Central NY and I am trying to design a scene that is similar to this.

  • I really enjoy urban scenry on model railroads like this. This layout reminds me of the Franklin & South Manchester which is another of my favorite layouts.

  • Thumbs up for the A-team van at 1:50!

  • How did you get the wet streets look @ 9:20? Very cool how is the new DVD coming?

  • @cvgeeps / The "wet" street look @9:20 was created by buffing the street with a soft cloth. This proceedure produces a hard finish to the paint that is very durable and is also scratch resistant!, which comes in handy when I catch " visitors" driving vehicles around the streets on the layout!!!. No ETA on the new DVD and is still in the early planning stages but have been doing a series of test videos with couple of different types of camera. 3D is super cool and hopefully the price will also.

  • Who the hell would dislike this?

  • I know I am probally being stupid but why is there a freight train going right the way through the road?

    Beautiful thing though!

  • Very Nice Layout. I'll never have that much money to spend.

  • @BroadwayLion / It is a Lot more work than money!

  • @TheCITYEDGE Yes it is a lot of work. But still each one of those details costs an average of $1.00 each. And there are a lot of them. It is a very beautiful layout, and there is no doubt about that. Much skill and love went into it.

  • @BroadwayLion / Yes you are correct!. Over the past 12 years that I have been working on this layout, a lot of details have been added and some removed. I kept all receipts and one day, if I am brave enough I might total them up!.Thank You for your kind words!

  • Very nice do you normally run this many trains?

  • @0SpecialOps / Oh Yea, and sometimes more!.

  • Incredibel layout. Very nicely done

  • very very fantastic layout !!

  • Did you make the buildings from scratch? How tall are the ones at the back?

  • @whitbyjet65 / Most of the buildings are casting I made from mixing and matching several different manufactured kits, others are scratch built models that I casted and assembled. The building height of the tallest ones ranges anywhere from 12 to 18 floors, Thanks.

  • @TheCITYEDGE Thanks. It's the best city layout I've ever seen. I'm planning on doing a similar thing myself based on a 1970s English city. .

  • A fantastic layout. You've captured a lot of detail I didn't notice in the Green Frog DVD, possibly because there is just so much detail to take in!

  • @PoathTV / The video above is not on the "Street Running" DVD, it was shot several years after.

  • Where you able to film the other side of the layout? Great horn sound. I first read about this layout in Model Railroad last year. Very detail and well done. Thanks for sharing.

  • @chefjavier / The other side of the layout is a large staging area with multiple passing sidings and I plan to hopefully get some video of it someday. Thank you for your comments!

  • I bought the City Edge DVD a while ago and thought this is a layout that will be legendary and I still enjoy watching the operation and to see this new stuff was awesome are you planning a new release? The vid was fun to watch Thanks Steve

  • @cvgeeps / Thank you for your comments Steve, I am happy that you enjoyed this video also. I have been running some test shots for a new video but I do not have an ETA as I am way behind due to work and play obligations and have not been back to work on the layout other than running trains. Thanks Steve.

  • There are no words I canuse to describe this layout! By far one of the best I have ever seen. This is unreal! I model N scale and intend on building my next layout based on city scenery. I could talk about this layout for days, this is unreal.

  • @tholland10 / Hey thanks tholland 10, I originally wanted to build this layout in O scale but it would not have fit in the space I wanted to use. N scale is just to small for me but you could definitely build a large city in a rather small area compared to HO scale. Thanks again for taking the time to view and comment on my layout!.

  • @badrnu / The City Edge layout has appeared on the cover several times in Mainline Modeler, Railmodel Journal and multiple other magazines. It has also been featured in the Sept 2003 Model Railroader Magazine. The latest publication on this layout was in the Great Model Railroads 2010 published by Model Railroader magazine, in which all photos were complied with the Helicon Focus program for total depth of field. The City Edge was also on the cover of the Model Railroader Calander 2011.

  • wow

  • Would a train really go down the middle of a high street a bit hazardous for cars and predestions is it not??

  • @jezadude Definitly: there are still a few locations in the US where trains run downtown on rails embedded in the pavement. This is called "street running" and there are various place where you can see this: Oakland CA, Fort Collins CO, Augusta GA, La Grange KY, etc...

  • This is really great! I like how the scenery shows realism and how you have the trains in the back and in the front. Looks like it took a lot of planning and work.

  • Best layout ever seen.

  • Awesome Pimp & Hos at 1:01

  • Also the night time shots!

  • The entire thing is stunning. But at 1:47 for me, THAT'S my favorite. I think it looks like a real helicopter shot. GREAT WORK!

  • Where Is This? In Your House? Or In Some Barn Or Something?

  • Top class job, you have something to be proud of with this layout, the long truss bridge deserves special mention.

  • amazing job!

  • amazing work!

  • This Layout inspired my ffuter layout.

  • were did you get the train crossings from

  • this is over the top. easily one of the best layout videos period!!

  • This is absolutely amazing. If you didn't know it was a model layout, you would think it the real thing at first glance. The attention to detail is pure genious! What an inspiration for model railroading. Thanks for sharing this video.

  • simply incredible

  • It don't get better than this!!! Unbelieveable!

  • Really cool. I felt like I was actually there!

  • More Videos!!!

  • Totally AMAZING..... I love all the details, from the lights to the bill boards....to of course...The trains themselves. Totally super railroading..... Teh bridge scenes are awsome as well...

  • awesome I love it

where did you get the street lights?

  • @CSILCPD / Thank you, CSILCPD. The street lights are Walthers brand and are available at most quality hobby shops or directly thru Walthers. Thanks for your comment!.

  • WOW ABSOLUTLEY STUNNING! MODEL RAILROADING AT IT'S FINEST!
