I have started walking for the past couple of months and started taking it up a notch the last few weeks. When I first started my shins would hurt real bad after walking. That seemed to go away.I just bought a new pair of sneakers which seem to fit good but today after walking 3.5 miles, which is good for me, my shines hurt once again. I am guessing its from the new sneakers. Is there something i can do about this. I am broke so buying new shoes is tough. Thanks so much for your videos..cya Keith
hi to all with shin splints. i also suffer from shin splints.i play football 3 times a week and do alot of walking, cycling etc. and my legs started to hurt badly and my mate said i might have shin spints so i bought
'Shin Splint Runners Support Wrap With Tendon Supports' off ebay and i havnt looked back.im not gonna lie and say the problem has gone away but the strap i bought off ebay has cured 80% of my shin splints so go on ebay and purchase the strap.
i play football and run track. and i've had terrible shin splints on the inside of my tibia for about 3 to 4 weeks now and i've continued to run on them because i just figured they'd go away with time. but they hurt so bad now it's almost unbearrable. i've changed my running shoes to reebok zigtechs because my football coach told me they would help. but i haven't noticed any difference. i'm so scared of getting stress fractures... is there anything i should be doing to treat my shins?
I have been playin Football (soccer) all my life and now i get this really painful injury in shins, I think its shin splints. I have had it for 3 months now, it stops me from perfoming to my best of ability. I really need help to recover ?
Thank you for your time in posting this video publicly. i feel more confident in trying to relive my symptoms myself. while i wait to see a podiatrist
i started having plantar fasciatis. i got orthotics and my heel better but now i have pay in my calf area dont know what to do!!!!!!!please helt where do i b uy tape from????????
Did the stretches besides the 5 minute miracle. To replace it i did the ball rolling thing while i was watching tv what not :] and my shin splits got better in two days Thanks!! Btw use the taping method it will help if your still going to what you have to do. ( i still had to play tennis so it helped)
I have the symptoms described and they have been getting progressively worse. Your description of the problem, remedial exercises, and taping was the most spot-on of any online advice I've seen.
When i have shin splints, i go and do one legged calf raises with weights, really strengthening the calf. And the rolling exercise is also good with a beer bottle :). It works for me.
It seems the video is very informative. The instructor having attractive feet is certainly a nice little bonus. But even better---with the exception of a few distractions(such as the loud little bass guitar riff at the beginning, and the little jingle at the end) the video also functions as good sleep inducer because of the sultry/innocent voice combination she's got going on. If I knew what kind of injury would get me a 30 minute video-response, I'd begin working on that injury at this time.
i've boxed for over 7 years now, i'm 20 years old but lately i have suffered from shin splints. I changed my running shoes but this has made little difference. The pain after my run is unbearable lately and i cannot even touch my shin. Why has this only started to occur now when i have trained hard all my life??
This is a tough question to answer. Try using the over the counter show insert called "superfeet". That will provide more stability than what most shoes provide. Also try to train on even surfaces and not change for a while until your symptoms subside.
something that is kinda hard to do but feels amazing is to right after your workout get a trash can fill it with ice and then water so that it is right below your knees and stand in it for fifteen minutes it provides instant pain relief and helps your shins heel faster
Taping should get you through the race, and then make sure you appropriately rest and allow your body to completely heal after the event so this does not become a chronic problem.
seems on Reading Shin splints i have a 1/2 marathon in 4 weeks i'm 29 yrs old i have up to last week been avaeraging 60-74k (22k in 1hr 45 min)a week in total Distance,so some quick fix ideas i miss running only done two 8ks in 6 days, seating round the house eating, so any help ???? will 2 weeks un do 3 months work i've had drops in training b4,weekends on the booze reward my self etc, but thats self imposed time off HELP ! thanks
i have shin splints from running in the same area. thx ive done these exercises but they dont help that much. the pain keeps coming back. i cant stop running either. i gotta keep in shape. no more than 2 days off for me
lol how? it doesn't hurt while you run. only after. The more miles your run, i run 2 miles and my legs start to shake. Ok imagine me running 8 miles. I would go into shock! lol.

hi, i am posting this question on behalf of my girlfriend.
she was diagnosed with shin splints some time ago, and has gave up c.v to help her recovery.
this was over 3months ago and has seen little improvement.
she feels this has been wrongly diagnosed as their isnt any pain along her shin but all along the length of the calf muscle.
i dont know if this is related, but she has high arches and the tendons in her feet feel quite tight although never sore

A stress fracture usually takes 6-8 weeks to heal. If you are a smoker or not in good health it could take longer. Be well.
