@MalibuKen65 our 2001 Honda Odyssey has been very good to us. we've had it since 2002, and, in my wife's words, "it's the only car i've ever had that i haven't had any complaints about". I guess every model has its occasional lemon, but this is a real peach of a car. we *DID* have to get a new transmisison, but that was a widely known problem, and there was no charge (I think we were still within warranty, or something).

Swagger Wagon- breaking down barriers one lane-change at a time.
... Argue all you want, but while the import vehicles outlast the american cars with double the mileage and half the cost of ownership, itll just be another bailout out of our pocket to keep these poorly made cars on the road.
@arpatt77 "Argue all you want, but while the import vehicles outlast the american cars with double the mileage and half the cost of ownership,"
Exactly. If the American auto industry wants back in the market, they need good quality at a reasonable price! End of story. And a Lou Dobbs-ish, wishy-washy, I didn't say that, "protectionism" built with tariffs and realpolitik arm-twisting won't cut it!!
...Listen to the radio, listen to any chevy or ford commercial, all you hear them say is this is better than toyota and honda, that is better than toyota and honda, now listen to a toyota or honda commercial, there is no this or that is better than ford or chevy, cuz they dont have to like the american cars. Honestly Dodge is the only american made car even remotely built well....
@Chevyrulzz1 I think you failed to realize that the japanese are not laughing at us Toyota owners, Celica in my case, but at people like you who drive the american built cars. I love my country, Im former Army, but the vehicles made here in america are not built to last, they are built to break, because broke cars mean new parts, and new parts means more money, Japan takes a different approach to making money, sell vehicles worth a crap, and people will buy them more....
WE JUST PURCHASED A SIENNA FROM THOMSON TOYOTA!!!! It was the BEST decision we could have made. This car is awesome, comfortable and we got SUCH A GOOD DEAL ON IT. I LOOOOVE this car.
@Chevyrulzz1 You posted this same nonsense on another Toyota commercial thread... you didn't even change the text <~ like I just did here. Cross posting like that is essentially spamming. Grow up "Chevy rules." You are making your own brand look even worse than it already is.
@Chevyrulzz1 Selling out my own country? What protectionist nonsense! Get rid of the Union nonsense and we might actually have a chance on the world market. Any possibility you are a fan of the UAW?
Oh sure , I guess you will the first one to step up for a job that pays 50 cents a day like in China. Even toyjunkyota is union in america. They just pay crapy wages and have no taiffs placed on the 70% of the cars they sell here that are shiped from Japan. China and Japan laugh at what morons americans have become.
You cannot raise tariffs to create "fair" trade without eroding your own relevance. What can we do instead? Make a better car for less money! Design it, own its brand, outsource its production if you have to, market and sell it... with everyone making much more than "50 cents a day." More people benefit from that scenario than you obviously realize and we have much better things to do with our time and energy. But, you, since you are so tied to it, can keep your UAW membership as memorabilia.
I can only hope your job is outsourced soon. I am a business owner so I believe I know a little bit more than you on the subject. when your largest job creation is in the Mcservice industry your country is not doing to well. Yes lets keep importing 800 billion worth of products and sending out 200 billion and see where america ends up. Japan thanks you for supporting them while selling your self out. unemployment is only at 9.8% and our debt at 12 trillion. Non union business owner.
@Chevyrulzz1 I am self-employed (contract worker) and know exactly what I am facing, but a business owner like you who cannot acknowledge the domestic auto/union problem? You would have said something more worthwhile about unions two posts ago if you had anything to add. The outsourcing question has been around for a long time and yet our national levels of productivity keep rising and not just in "McService." If we are still talking about Toyota, you are wandering a bit off topic.
Now thats funny, a contact worker because he can not find a real job. As for the union, I agree that they were part of the problem. But they also brought every middle class american's standard of living up which is now on the decline due to the fact we have to compete with 3rd world slave labor. As for productivity, why do you think america has to be so productive with less workers ?? Because they have to compete with countries that can pay 2dollars a day. Wow we Toyota job, union 14 dollars.
@Chevyrulzz1 Now you are just being mean, lol, I choose to work this way and it is the nature of my field. BUT, that is neither here nor there. At least we can agree, in part, on the unions, and yet... where in the world does this claim that unions are what brought up the middle class's standard of living? Very broad statement, highly unsupportable. It would be much easier to explain the same phenomenon by way of deregulation and reasonable taxation (which America is now doing very poorly at).
I think the marketing ploy here is showing flawed characters using the product. Do we really need to see more beaming, radiantly gorgeous, slim mothers in sun-dappled immaculate houses paying heed to their kid's every need? Such a character is not sympathetic or relatable. These self-absorbed spiritually stunted yuppie types are more like the average person, and thus more lovable! Also, their characters are so stereotypes that you get to feel superior to them.
Interesting choice Toyota marketing team. While I find the content rather funny (and personally respect Toyota products)...I'm just wondering what makes Toyota think this will HELP them make more sales. The reason "lifestyle" pieces (not like this one) worked is because the people buying the product WANT to be like the people in the ad. Not sure who would sign up to buy the same product these self absorbed (although funny) people would...lifestyle pieces aren't entertaining...risky. We'll see.
I agree with the comments. Toyota should be embarrassed to associate their cars with these selfish, self-absorbed idiots. I guess they are saying that only people like these would buy a Toyota.
These people are idiots. Toyota should be embarassed to have these people shilling for them. It doesn't make me want to buy the vehicle: it makes me want to never touch a Toyota for the rest of my life. Those two kids in the back seat watching videos and wearing headphones will be deaf by the time they are 15.
The two 'adults' should be taking parenting classes.
So Toyota, ya got me to pay attention but not in a good way at all.
@pbgLompoc THank YOu. Finally someone with some common decency and sense. I hate these ads also. I dont know why two assholes would make you want to buy something either.
The commercial says "MEET THE FAMILY IN THE NEW SIENNA ON YOUTUBE." They try to make them seem like a young, hip couple. hey are NOT young they're like 35. And they are NOT a real couple. I have seen this blonde whore in different commercials. She is an actress. They look like reject-acors. They couldn't make it on a tv show so they do commercials.
DO NOT BE FOOLED! these are cheap annoying paid actors and 90% of the comments written on videos are done by the toyota company. the other 10% are written by the real people who actually give a shiiet. and as you can tell they HATE UR VIDEOS.
WOW! Amazing how pathetic some poster are. This is ADVERTISING folks. The mere fact that you are on You Tube, posting about the Sienna means that the Advertisers achieved their goal. You are talking about, posting and blogging about THEIR product. Bravo Toyota
how in the hell does Toyota think that some neurotic douche bag and his narcissistic wife make anyone want to buy a car from them? It isnt funny, its lame ass neurotic shit
I have never seen such a stupid commercial about a car. Yes, a CAR. They get paid to do this commercial, and why do I care what they drive, or if she gets picked up by guys or not. She is a mother, and acts like the cops in the commercial are trying to make a pass at her. Forget the stupid commercials, and put some normal ads on.
I like Toyota, it's a toss up between the Tacoma or the Tundra as to which is my dream vehicle but I'm a truck guy and I don't have kids. If I did have kids, I would get a 4Runner or a the manly monster SUV that is the Sequoia. This ridiculous commercial does not make me want to buy a mini van. First the sticking throttle pedals then this epic failure on top of it.
Come on people, its not a shot at the African American race. Why do black people think that everything is a shot at them, its pathetic really. Come on its funny, that's what commercials do, make people laughed to sell their stuff and I bet if you got your panties out of a wad you would shut up and laugh. Get over yourself, they wouldn't waste the commercial air time.
These pretentious suburbanites calling their grocery getter a "swagger wagon"?! Seriously? These are the kind of suburbanite weasels that would cross to the other side of the street if they saw a black man....the same kind of person they try (and fail miserably) to emulate in this commercial.
Not the commercial, toolbag...the suburbanite idiots running around talking about "swagger", making hand motions like theyre in some kind of rap video...maybe its just beyond your comprehension. Sorry if my comment sprained your brain, skippy.
