  • Awesome rendition. :)

  • スゲーライヴ!

    最高だね。このノリは!

  • 0:12. Stewart Copeland It's over 9000 !!!!!

  • Great band, great tour (Synchronicity 1983, as was the Ghost '81'-82 tour, preceded by the the smaller but just as energetic Zenyattta '80-'81, tour).

Only bands like U2 (360, Zoo '91-'93, Josh Tree '87, tours), the Stones (Tattoo You '81-'82, Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle -'89-'90), Who ('82-'86), Fleetwood Mac ('77-'79 [Rumors],['87-'88 Tango]), Bruce (Born '84-'85), Halen ('81-'82, '83-'84), and Guns (Illusion '91-'93) are comparable.

Shea Stadium, Aug '83, 70,000k, great sound.

  • Atlanta, Nov '83, Shea was Aug.

I believe, in terms of sold-out, +40,000 attendance crowds (not bad on a consecutive day-in-day-out [basically] tour for back then), Comiskey Park, Hollender Stadium, Sullivan Stadium, Shea, JFK Stadium, CNE Stadium, Olympic Stadium, Hollywood Park, Oakland Stadium, Orange Bowl, Tangerine Bowl, Carrier Dome, Aloha Bowl, Melbourne Grounds, and others I've missed.

  • Lol it's funny they only show the same 3 audience members the whole video

  • Great stuff!!

  • OK here goes: i love a good mystery or to be exact revealing them the words to this song actually explain why the speed of light is what it is take a look at The Real Reason Why People Defend Religion on YOUTUBE

  • Happy Synchronicity Day ;)

  • jpsh freese sent me here

  • The Police: all the proof you ever needed that the English (Sting and Andy) hate working and take every opportunity they can to make foreigners (Stewart) do as much of the work as possible for them

  • wtf is that thing sting is wearing? lol oh well nice vid

  • 43 years old.... was 15 when I saw my all-time favourite band in 1983 in Philadelphia in 100 degree heat. They were supposed to play at the Spectrum but decided to make it a JFK Jam with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, REM and Madness. They killed the whole concert by playing in 100+ degree heat. I was so upset!!! However, The Police are and will be my favourite band ever...................

  • i like more when polie are just 3 guys

  • the police: 3 black chicks and some other dudes.

  • i love this mens!!!!!

  • Is that a Warwick bass that sting is playing?

  • @yorickman i think it's a spector ns-2

  • This is one the MOST amazing openers to a concert ever. Still love it to this day.

  • made of awesome

  • so good

  • I saw them during this tour in Iowa City. I wish I could have seen them more but I was too young. I remember somebody threw a huge soda cup full of ice and drink at Sting, and he swerved to miss it just in time!

  • the word ENERGY doesn't describe it completely!

  • Best Band Ever!

  • OH it's a 12-string. Nice

  • What great music and a great band!!! Stewart Copeland is a drummer extrordinaire and a classically trained jazz drummer...the best there are.

  • ♫ #Freiheit ☼ #Libertad ♥ #Liberty

  • I wish I could have seen this back then!

  • @Fymious I did!! :)

  • Stewart Copeland and his fortress of percussion. Nothing gets in or out.

  • My favorite band by far. Stewart Copeland is one of my favorite drummers, and Sting, an awsome talent. But, Andy Summers always gets short changed for his amazing talent & contribution. The Police would have NEVER created such a sound w/o Andy. Extremely underrated guitarist! The Police were successful because they wanted to have their own sound...not 20 minute guitar & drum solos like every other band. Andy played for the band, which is why I admire him so much.

  • fantastic ! really nice.

    i love this sounds.

  • Stuart Copeland = machine

  • Stews drumming is unmistakable, he has a style and tone all his own. Rare indeed

  • the police= sting + coppeland

  • @LORDOCTAGON You're kidding right? Andy Summers has more talent in one finger that Sting as in is whole body. Summers just isn't more recognised because he doesn't have a big ass ego like sting. Just look at this video. Andy is just standing there playing while sting is jumping around like a maniac

  • @Paulie2342 You jackass. Summers is fantastic, but don't say shit about Sting. Who do you think wrote all this great music, and WHO continues to do so on a grand scale to this day? Let me know when it costs $800,000 a night for you to perform.

  • @Paulie2342 You must not realize how hard it is to write good ORIGINAL music that defines genres. I agree, The Police should equal Summers+Sting+Copeland, but just because Sting is the most recognizable of the Three doesn't mean he doesn't deserve it. Sting wrote ALL of the hits, and Stewart and Andy adapted those said hits to create the Police sound. They all worked together and ultimately contributed to the band's popularity equally. Sting just gets all the notoriety because he's the frontman.

  • Stewart " I Got Backbeat For Your Muthafuckin Ass" Copeland !

  • We are a Scottish band from Glasgow. Just tryin to Spread our music around. If you like this type of music you might us. Please check out our music by clicking on our channel name. if you like what you hear come and friend us at our page.

  • one of the greatest songs in the History of Man.

  • ..These guys just play with music.. perfect!!

  • Talk about a band "going out on top"! AMAZING song and performance!

  • STEWART COPELAND, THE DRUMMER WHITH HIS FRIENDS, STING AND ANDY, JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA,

  • @luisjavier22 Sting and Stew friends? PSH! haha

  • Amazing drummer

  • 8========D

    what is that?

  • ok, where the FUCK does stewart copeland get his energy from? seriously...

  • The first two songs sound like rock music for museums. Feels like I'm on a safari in science class in this song.

  • Stewart Copeland at his best!

  • Mnnnnnmmmmmm sound good!!!!!

  • Stewart FUCKING Copeland!!!!!!

  • HEY !!! WATCH "JELLY PLANE" on YOUTUBE !!!

  • i saw this tour in oakland , California. Synchronicity was their best album.

  • Sting has the best male voice ever!!! !!! !!!

  • i'm in heaven right now.

  • The Police rules the world!!! Steward Copeland is a beast!!!

  • Aug 24, 1983- Saw them at JFK Stadium (RIP) in Philly. 100+ degrees, hoses on the crowd. I stuffed my 35 mm camera w/ a telephoto lens down my pants- I was still too far away to get close ups.... still have the pics though! My second concert ever.

  • About 10 seconds into this video, Stewart Copeland begins to illuminate, like some sort of mythical god! All hail Percussus, along with Sting (& his Technicolor Dreamcoat).

  • @TruthJockey Hey you need to shutup.

  • Stewart Copeland and the Police he started the band and Sting's ego took it over! Stewart is my drum guru he's the greatest I have his signature snare drum!!!

  • I think Sting stole his outfit from the set of Dune.

  • Have you noticed a brief change at 2:27?

  • Do you think that bit of footage was from Montreal?

  • This is one of the best concert videos I've ever seen! From beginning to end, it was shot very well and exciting!

  • the person who edited this film molded my taste in ladys

  • This is so awesome that I'm not gonna say anything else.

  • Those black cheerleaders are amazing. I want you.......

  • @JonnyCashmore please send some black cheerleader to Spain

We don't see that kind of things here :)

    Nice!

  • and he plays traditoinal so hard to do

  • Police rule.

  • COPELAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!

  • One of my favorite if not, favorite Police tunes. Stewart is a drummer's drummer having created a unique style of playing and influenced generations of drummers that followed. And yes, music videos just don't show enough of the drummer, it's really the camera guy/video editor not understanding the importance and role of the drummer, it's not just about the front guy.

  • estoy enfermo y casi me pongo a bailar .....buuuueeen tema

  • i love stewart copeland so much, he's a huuge inspiration...!

  • COPELAND! COPELAND! COPELAND!

  • extra sensory upload..thanks

  • NOT ENOUGH COPELAND

  • Lokk at him kick the shit out of those skins with trad grip!!!!

  • these guys burned

  • best police live

  • How tight is Mr Copelands snare !! Loved his energetic style with that orthadox grip too, great to watch !!

  • I LOVE THEM since i was 17. and that was 1987 ;)

  • calgary is not in the usa, it is in canada. stewart copeland rocks by the way

  • I love the Police, but I hate this concert, its very cheesy I think and the back up singers.... totally not necessary.

  • What a performance. Tight, young and on the money. Very cool video. Love the energy and the colorful outfits. Wayne

  • There are no words in the english language to discribe how good they were at the peak of their career... out of this universe...

  • Saw this live in Rotterdam

  • the police: a DRUMMER then other two guys.

  • @clacas1 TE POLICE:agreat drummer..a great bass guitar...and a great frontman...

  • @clacas1 Hehe..that's a bold statement...but it's true as well.

  • @clacas1 LMAO, the drums are the best in this song

  • @clacas1 ouch, you have tinnitus, the guitar solo on this tune is world class and sting wrote the best bass line of all time when he composed the bed's too big without you, a song about your gf, try and name a better bass line ;)

  • @clacas1 Totally know what you mean: I mean, Sting did well for himself, but his solo work never had the fizzy energy of the police--"the missing link--Stewart Copeland". But, let's be fair Sting has a unique voice and a good ear for pop melody--and Summers understood how to create amazing textures and layers. He actually has the chops to just wail.

  • @drfreebird777 Sting changed pace a bit, but his solo work is his real genius. Live in Berlin is just off-the-charts FANTASTIC. His new version of End of the game is the OPUS of his entire career.

  • @clacas1 Andy Summers is a great guitar player.

  • andy summers isn't a simple guitarman .... he can make a "carpet" under each single song

  • Love that flam at 0:49.

  • sting's broflow...unmatchable lmao

  • I dont think anyone gives Andy enough credit for his use of effects and different picking style.

  • Drives! like many Police tracks.

Was imagining Buddy Rich behind the drums there.

I think he could fit right in.

  • Copeland put the motor in this band. Incredible energy, synchopation here.

Sting was good here but his voice is just starting to show the signs of destruction. It never recovered from the Synchronicity tour.

    Andy is really horrible here.

I saw them on this tour and I regard it as the best concert I've been to. I saw their reunion tour a few years ago and while it was nostalgic, they were shadows of their former selves.

  • @ghostinthemachine44

    - Sting was hooked on the Colombian go-go powder pretty good by this point. Andy's never been that good live. He was a professional session player prior to being in the Police, but his knowledge of chords and music theory is rarely matched in the world of rock/pop and that had a huge impact on their success. Stewart was just playing as fast as he could to piss off Sting...

  • Like a little Presley.

  • to nobodysfool454; I'd try and describe the "Moeller technique" but it'd be simpler to just go to wikipedia and type in "moeller method." There's a very detailed description there.

  • the police is the only band that I consider have reached the concept of "Fusion" they were so perfect

  • copeland's the fucking man, i'd let that dude play drums on my forehead with hammers just to hear him jam

  • @GuitarSlinger151 What an awesome reply....funny I love the way he plays man.

  • COPELAND IS A BEAST ON THE DRUMS, ITS AWESOME

  • @dexterdenise yeah, he's a rudimentary type drummer. parradiddles and the early type of "moeller technique". freaking awesome synchopation..

  • Stewart Copeland is a sexy beast on the drums.

  • Great rock with syncopation in 6/8 timing. Love odd time rock! Copeland is a great rock drummer too.

  • @ozBiz2 great comment, you're right. a kick ass rudimentary type drummer that plays it like it should be played. he uses a lot of the "Moeller technique". this guy was at the top of the game especially with the single "walking on the moon", with that ripping moeller technique on the high hat

  • @nobodysfool454 Moeller technique? I haven't heard of that, can you explain that or share a video on what that is? Cheers!

  • what's with the backup singers?

  • As stupid as the clothes and the hair may be, this band is tight as hell on this performance.

  • It was the 80s. Enough said.

  • @LuckilyHeDied So the stupid paints on the ground that looks like you have a diaper full of shit looks better, ya right

  • @birdz16994 Do you miss the point of everything you read or was this just a one-time occurrence?

  • Nice jacket... I think...

  • 20と何年ぶりかで聴いたけどやはりかっこいい

  • Those where the dayse dude

  • stewart copeland is a solid drummer. One of the greatest... but i would definitely have to disagree in saying that he's "the best" drummer in the world. I can name two drummers right off the bat that could easily play stewart's beats but stewart probably couldn't do their beats justice... Carter Beauford and Neil Peart

  • stings hair makes him look like a chicken

  • @steventucker80 at least he's got some, bird brain.

  • @MegaBairdy i was kidding. if i wanted to make my hair look like that, i would. except it's not the 80s anymore

  • Excelente cancion y live de esta gran banda musical

  • copeland's spend a large part of his childhood in egypt. his father worked for the US embassy (classified) in beirut, the arabian single percussion drum held underneath the arm caught his attention, the drum called TABLA was in every band and you can see it and hear it in Belly dancing video. made of fish skin played by quick hands it produces a nice sharp beat, caught steve's attention and from there he pursued drumming in his high school band until he became one of the best drummers in rock.

  • Copeland's cranking out enough raw power here on his own, to light up a small city for 3 minutes

  • I wanted to hear/see this on last tour some years ago, but No :-( /H

  • i beg to differ anotation neil peart is the best drummer ever

  • @TheSil3nt0n3 im trying to figure out if that was just a joke started on youtube

  • would have been awesome to see them back them....

  • THIS SONG IS A PARTY!! LET´S GO TO JUMP!!!!

  • For some reason, I get tired watching Stewart play this song. T

  • You should watch the Oakland v1983 video of this. It was before Sting gave up after Shea Stadium, so it was like the old Police with the new songs. Great.

  • In my opinion, the Police's best rock song....the lyrics alone sum up it's empirical chant, and the drums don't hurt either. Fucking Awesome!

  • ANDY SUMMERS is the worst. guy is SOOOOOOOO LUCKY to have met sting and stew. sting and stew are great. summers is average for playing in such a great band. summers is a basic ska guitarist

  • @lovekaley1 do your homework

  • Copeland Rocks!!!!!

  • I've never been a fan of this song, usually preferring their earlier work, but sometimes hearing a band and watching a band are two different things. What incredible power and energy they had.

  • best drummer ? I don't think so :) great drummer though agreed. I like Tommy Aldridge alot and Neil Peart ain't that bad either ^^

2 of the very best IMO.

    :) ROCK ON \m/

  • stewart copeland is a beast!

  • Why everyone says Copeland is such a grat drummer? Is he technically master or something? I don't realy know about drumming

  • @necroshyha he was the first to mix reggae percussion with rock, ska, pop, punk, he has incredible speed and technic, his very known for his rimshots, you can tell by the sound when it´s stewart playing. for me the best of all times, his sound is unique he uses all the pieces the other drummers use, but he sounds a lot better then them. hope i helped.

  • wow what a drummer

  • Classic 80! Clasiic Police! Classic rock! I loved how this hit had many dancing in the aisles. I also loved those cute costumes from the lady back-up singers.

  • 0.45........I agree with every word of that, whata drummer i miss im!

  • sting--bare chested, blow dried bouffant, ugly jacket... dork

  • Killer

  • One of the most influential drummers of the 20th century, I'd say. It's shame you only get to see him a couple of nanoseconds in this video. It would be great to see him play the whole song.

  • @vennootje LISTEN! ;)

  • @vennootje You have to put Neil Peart in that list as well. Both Neil and Stewart are the best I have ever heard.

  • 3 of the best players ever... just 3 of them have a better groove than a super big band

  • @Skallagrim77 RUSH is another....both with world class drummers.

  • @ThePetrohaulic while you're moving onto rush, what about bill bruford or alan white?...yea i know the list becomes endless from there, cuz there's the guy from rare earth too. ever heard the long version of 'get ready'?

  • I completely agree. Stewart Copeland and Neil Part (Rush) are two of the best drummers in the world.

  • I was at this concert, with Brian Ivey, and it was awesome, filmed at the OMNI, which no longer exists. Awesome acoustics!

  • Was this at Hollywood Park? I remember they had a show there in 83 or 84 I believe.

  • Yeah, that cheeky little flam/roll thing at 49 secs is just amazing an very hard to get to sound right.

  • keith moon is the best drummer ^^

  • @SAMB1515 So is Stewart Copeland. So is Mitch Mitchell. So is Bonzo. So is anyone who leaves such a mark on your mind to make you think, "FUCK ME. Is this guy even HUMAN?" :)

  • Stewart Copeland kicks ass!!

Check out Oysterhead (Copeland w/ Les Claypool and Trey Anistasio)
