  • canon g10 beter canon g11 ?

  • can i change the color of the theme of this camera (G10)?

i dont like the feault theme (blue/pink).

thanks to those who will reply. :)

  • I tried buying one around tuesday this week, and the lady says they dont sell them anymore, i went to like 4 other stores and they said the same thing....

WHAT'S HAPENNING?!?!!?!??! D:< does anyone know a store i could buy it in, around cali that doesnt involve gettign ONLINE to buy it ? please help me , i saved up so much money over the last three years and the day i finally buy it , they dont sell it anymore )): its so depressing.

  • ya tengo una pero quiero otra mas pichuda

  • some effing snatch thief in paris is holding on to my G10 right now. effing thieving paris crooks.

  • i wish someone would upload a recording from it

  • The camera is spinning unusually fast on this video. Most of the time, it would be a little slower xD!

  • i don't know what to buy plzzzz help

    G11 or G10 ?????

    um reallly congused

  • @farahgad

You can't go wrong either way. The G10 has ever so slightly better resoution than the G11 but the G11 is a far better camera for shooting at night. Or you could take the next step, spend an extra hundred or so bucks and get a Canon 1000D with a twin lens kit. I suggest taking to an expert though.

  • I got one for my birthday it's a brilliant little camera.

  • The build quality of the G10 is noticeably better than the G11. Unfortunately, the 10 megapixel sensor that is now in the G11, is the sensor that should have been in the G10, instead of the ridiculous unneeded 14mp sensor. The swivel screen on the G11 is easily broken, and once broken the camera is useless.

  • im thinking of getting the G11, because of the swivel screen, which will be very useful...i can careless if its megapixels isn't as much :/ but other than that, they are pretty much the same, right? ^^"

  • Your gonna get it becuase of the swivel screen? My G-5 I have from Feb 04 has a swivel screen and the G-3 before that.

This camera has a lot more to it than a swivel screen.

  • What about its video quality?

  • i heard this is the best camera before using DSLR. when you handle this camera skillfully, then your next step is~ DSLR.

  • i want it!!!!!!!

  • yay i got it. xD

  • hahah bachrey-- battery 1:07

  • Awesome camera. The G10 is a great camera for those who want to "learn" photography. You will be able to adjust "custom per shot white balance" not just "presents" like out door etc but "custom."

You have Ev, Av, Tv, ISO manual settings! Captures in RAW great for fixing things later in Photoshop. Has histogram and a 1/3 grid for applying the "rule of thirds" and more. Get it you won't be disappointed.

  • IM GETTING ONE FOR MY BIRTHDAY!!!!

    i cant wait!

i tried one today and it was amazing!

  • i m having it tomorow ... I AM SOOO EXITED

  • can you take a picture like you in the air or something flying but you can see the wings

  • how long can you record the video on it for?

  • about an hour. buy it. its pimp.

  • I have this camera and I am already sending it back after only months of owning it, the lens cover always comes in contact with the lens every time it's turned on and off, causing my lens to have permanent scratches in it. Canon didn't do anything to stop dust from infiltrating the LCD and the internal lenses. Not that I hate this camera, it's a great advancement, apart from no timelapse, no 1024x768, no x6 optical zoom etc but I guess it makes up with other features such as wide-angle and such.

  • Does the G10 have the time lapse mode capability of the G9?

  • no LAWL

  • Unfortunately, it does not. It also has the exact same CCD sensor as the G9 on the Digital Photography Review, but I will research this matter further to confirm that it is correct. The more mega pixels that are crammed into a sensor, the higher the noise level, but the G10 has the new DIGIC IV Image Processor, but noise still shows up in semi-light conditions, all multicoloured and stuff. Lolzzz.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i want it!!!!

  • Any views on how this camera performs in Auto mode? I'm looking for a camera that provides features and artistic flexibility, but that will also perform well on Auto as a spur-of-the moment, point and shoot device.

I enjoy photography as a hobby, but i think that a DSLR would be too bulky and complex for me when travelling. Would this be the camera for me?

    Cheers. :)

  • Will it do AEB? Auto Exposure Bracketing???

  • (cont)

    #3 avi vs mov

For some reason, canon decided to switch to the proprietary quicktime container and h.246 codec from the wide open MOTION Jpg AVI standard. The g9 videos play EVERYWHERE, g10 only on devices that have quicktime (archos?) In addition the compression is worse, the g9 would record about 110MB/m @ .7 megapixles, the g10 is about 75MB/m at .3. Half the resolution, 75% of the size.

    #1 time lapse video

A VERY neat feature, gone. This baffles me, it doesn't seem like there's a hardware limitation to the feature, seems more like it just wasn't included in the firmware.

    #2 1024 video

The size of the video was reduced from 1024 to 640. This may be due to the increase in sensor size but what a hit! The video quality in the g9 was one of the MAJOR selling points to me. Surprise!

  • One thing I think is important to mention is what was lost in the upgrade from the g9 to the g10. My g9 died after the lens was stuck open, I replaced it a few days later with a g10 and was shocked to find some features had been LOST. Thanks to youtube's crappy 500 char limit in comments I'll have to break this up

  • hello i wanna buy a camera.i need some help ppl..which one u think i should prefer:Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 , Fujifilm 100 fd, PowerShot SX 200 IS,PowerShot SX 110 IS or something else??pls give me some advise and ideas

  • so does that ring on the outside of the lens let you add on a different lens in a certain shooting and what does iso stand for and do some one please answer one of the questions. ALso im probably waiting for the next model so if anyone knows if the next one is better than the current one which is so hard to do then tell me.

  • Just wait a year, there will be another one out almost a year to date of this ones release. That's how Canon works.

    Also, do your own research!

  • im a photo noob but what is iso

  • sensitivity to light.

  • film speed/sesitivity to light. higher iso helps when shooting in low light but will also add noise to the image. when possible its best to shoot at low iso

  • i already own this one!

nice shot, just need some adjustment if you want more best picture result.!

  • I read somewhere that it only records video in quicktime format can that really be true??

    I know it doesn't have HD-video recording

but I could guess that it will arrive in the G11

  • If I want a camera with best image quality for landscape photo (with ability to make nice sunset and twilight photos in mountains), what would you recommend - G10/G9 or Panasonic LX3?

  • I've been researching this camera for a few weeks, and I'd definitely recommend it if you are looking for any good image quality.

  • sigma DP1 hands down.

  • That camera owns all of these.

  • how does it own a DP1? granted, the g10 has a zoom lens, so it wins there, and it probably has faster start up and shut down times, but the g10's sensor is tiny. the sigma dp1's sensor is the same as an aps-c slr's sensor.

  • I was referring to the DP1. The DP2 is coming out soon, too!

  • i'm pretty excited about the DP2...can't wait. hopefully they improved the on-off and shutter lag times as well as the magenta problem with the foveon sensor.

  • i played with this camera today and for sure picking this up next week!

  • what a dope.

  • Unless your planning on being a professional pphotographer a camera IS a camera

  • well sorry about the dope thing but a g10 and a sigma dp1 for example are totally different and one would get very different results with each.

  • I would get the dp1 because of the large sensor, but that's just me.

  • I will buy this definetly..its awesome..I was just looking something like this and I found it :D hh

  • I liked the G10 until I heard of the dissapointing ch

  • accidentally posted- Any way I liked the G10 until I heard about the changes in video format and video modes. Although they may not be the main thing it looks like Canon were trying to fix issues that were never there. This seems to be a sad pattern with a lot of products these days. If they had just left the video mode alone or improved the quality without a useless format change than the G10 would much better.

  • Whats ch? can you let me know cause I was thinking of buying this camera.

    Cheers

  • WHAT G10 dosent have Time Lapse, thats one of the reasons i wanted the G10, i use that feature a lot on other camera's.

Gunna have to go with the G9 then.

  • The front of the G10 reminds me of the lumix dont you think?

  • very informative video but does it time lapsed pictures?

  • a step backwards from the G9.G10 has inferior 5x zoom,no time lapse, more MP's on the same size chip as the G9 thus increasing image noise.

    i'll stick with my G9.

  • Never heard of things becoming better while staying the same or becoming smaller? I doubt your G9 can take a very good photo at ISO 800. Stop whinning because Time Lapse and 1x zoom are both weak argumements, just tell the truth: You don't have $500

  • i can easily afford the camera-in fact i was considering purchasing it before it was released.

the g10 can show noise in shadows at iso200 (after saying that though, most point and shoots do).overall it has more noise than the g9 due to more MPs on same size ccd sensor.

the only good thing about it is the better (more pixels) quality 3" lcd screen.

  • I have handled the camera for 4 hrs in a giant box store (Best Buy) and took all sorts of pictures I did not have a noise problem until I got to ISO 800. But your logic of "It has more megapixels on the same sized sensor therefore its terrible" is bunk. Because a 100 mb Harddrive was much larger than today's terrabyte harddrives yet somehow there is nothing wrong with the terrabyte harddrives. Companies can find ways to improve something without making it larger.

  • obviously this guy doesn't know much about what you're saying, mike .. instead he compares the subject physical ability to a hard drive? jeez .. does your hard drive produce noise at iso 400? haha ..

  • do you know how a camera's sensor works? obviously not. As the sensor size stays the same and the megapixel count goes up, the pixel pitch is reduced. this means each pixel gathers less light. This contributes to more noise. A camera sensor is not the same as a hard drive. don't act like you know what you're talking about if you don't.

  • The thing you have to realize is that the g10 offers the digic 4 processor. This processor does an extraordinary job of releaving the noise up to iso 200. Otherwise, I personally own one and from 80 to 200 the pictures are fanominal! Beyond that, because of the smaller sensor size, 800 and 1600 are too grainy. Great camera!

  • Man, you 're wrong!!

    G9 CCD sensor: 1/1.8 " (7.18 x 5.32 mm, 0.38 cm²)

    G10 CCD sensor: 1/1.7 " (7.60 x 5.70 mm, 0.43 cm²)

The G10's sensor is a bit bigger. However, the thing we should be concerned about is the Pixel Desnsity:

    G9: 26 MP/cm²

    G10: 34 MP/cm²

This has a result of less dynamic range for G10 compared to G9. But here is where the DIGIC4 comes to play along with the wider lens...

  • Please don't brag about a point and shoot. Mabye he just doesn't want to waste that much on a camera. The only people who should buy this are people who have massive SLRs already, and need something small. Besides, the sensor is still way smaller than a DSLR's.

  • what's next? 16mp g11 with touch interface? lol

  • nice video and nice review... although you speak way tooo fast for me.:(

  • Hi. does it have

macro focusing distance ? and.. i don`t really how u call that .. when u take a picture.. the camera will capture the image in that moment, not in a few ms or sec.Does it have that ? :D i`m looking for a camera ,and this things are really important to me. Thanks a lot

  • hi, thanks for your great review~~~i have a question, to put it simple, which point and shoot device would you recommend between a canon g10 and panasonic lx3? thanks in advance

  • the only drawback on lx3 is its limited zoom. both cameras are good.

  • How about a review of the SX1?

  • I've handled this camera and also am considering buying...its not nearly as big as it looks...its a good size compact...but dont expect it to be the size of an ultra compact...its surely not going to fit in a shirt pocket...but its the best point and shoot on the market...how can you go wrong?!?

  • PUcmw11 is right. my parents bought me this camera 2 days ago and whilst its not tiny, it really isn't as big as it looks.

  • i am very much considering getting this camera, my only problem is, it seems not very portable, kind of bulky, does anyone have any opinions or experience with this camera?

  • Why did they get rid of the time-lapse mode?

  • nice impression

sorry but why do you guys always say what's in the box?

It's always the same so why give a shit :D

  • it's always the same for you, but not for who is buying his first camera.

  • whats with the sxephil music at the beginning? :)

  • first one
