My heart breaks for poor Muriel's downbeaten mother, Betty.  Everyone was so good in this film. Not a weak performance or weak role in the entire film.

I remember when I saw this film in the theater in Atlanta. It was filled with gay men and a couple of black women and they all totally got the movie. They cheered when Muriel got back in the taxi and moved to Sydney.

Toni looks so pretty in her transformation (shown first at the video store). Not that all the focus on appearance should matter...I'm just saying. God this movie is so amazing...a very rich script with a lot of underlying themes. I love it!
