What is the name of the song (and artist) they are dancing to? Also, what do you call the shoes they are wearing? Was it a particular brand name? Did the shoes go by a slang name on the streets? They don't really look like platforms because they look low but have a thick heel. What was the overall name for the way they were dressed? They look a little bit like early 1900s Vaudeville performers. I wonder where they were performing. Looks like a college campus. These guys are spectacular.
@vidform The song is called "Coke" by Tribe. It was an underground hit that came out in 1973 and was a staple of New York parties at The Loft and Paradise Garage. The record label had issues with the name so alternate pressings were out with the title as "Koke" and "Smoke."
The difference is, the Campbell locking is the origenial lock style and and that is the begin of locking. At the Locking today, there are more dance moves and there are more different stlyles than @ the time of the campbell locks
@lovelydiva06 The only one from the 1984 movie Breakin' is Adolfo Shabba Doo Quinones. The girl happens to be Toni Bassil who had a 1982 one hit wonder Mickey, not Ana Lollipop Sanchez.
@oldschoolbx1970 i meant shabba doo not boo, lol and yes thats where i know shabba "ozone" doo from breakin and toni bassil, don't know her will have to look her up and see what she's about but ana is one of the best female break dancing lockers from the late 70's and 80's
@lovelydiva06 Lollipop is still doing her thing out there. As for Toni Bassil, you gotta find out what she's been up to lately since she left The Lockers besides her one and only song Mickey.
Does anyone have a clip of the lockers on the Phil Donahue show? It was great because a decent chicago group of breakers were on there like it was this new thing, then they brought out the lockers and it was obvious some funky moves had been around a long long time. Oh yeah, someone mentioned "Ozone" from "breakin", he was good, and again, got attention many before him should have gotten...
@johnnyjayramone Please let me know if you find it huh? Youtube is great but still a lot out there I can't find. Going to look on Hulu or something with old tv next...
Thank you thank you thank you for adding this video. I've been trying to tell younger friends about the lockers i saw on TV when I was a kid, and they just don't understand. They see to think all todays crews invented everything and I am trying to tell them how so much technique is evolving for a long time. This makes you think about how inventive people were during other past years. From the heart
this song is koke pt.1&2 by Tribe. Its hard to get,if anyone knows were i can get this i would appreciate it.have only been able to get a weak 2min version the whole song is a little over 5min
How can you not call this H|P HOP?? WE were doing this when the were breaking in NY. I am an old school la hip hop head, we were not rapping, but we were hip hop
The most respect to Don Campbell and his funky vision. But I just love the way Shabadoo and Leo Flukey Luke interpreted his vision. For me, it has more of the essence of what I think funk dancing(locking) should be.
Damn did you see how young they looked? Rerun and shabadoo still had baby faces. Thanks, I've never seen this clip. Do you know where it was taken? Looks like a college.
Damn!!! I cannot find a real APPLEJACK anywhere!!! The ones that I keep finding are too small. If someone knows where to get one, let me know.... anyway, check my locking vids
Hahaha, the funniest part was the reaction shot where they pan the lame audience - they're all like: "this isn't wholesome enough for me, what if the communists saw this?"

I don't understand 1 thing:
Why do lockers nowdays try to dress exactly like these here?
Not everyone has to look like a cartoon version of a person from the 30's to be a locker.

why do all rappers dress the same why do all hiphoppers dress the same, why do al metallheads dress the same... cuz its a part of that culture
