-When jump starting, you always connect the ground wire FIRST!
-The fuel pump is NOT accessible under the car by removing the tank,it is under the rear seat as it is in your Toyota!Only a pump for a fuel Injected diesel engine could cost up to 500$ and its located in the engine bay.

One good suggestion about antifreeze though, make sure to use the kind the manufacturer suggests. Some brands have silicates and phosphates in them, and in some cases they can clog small passages and even damage the water pump seal. Toyota has their own,as well as MBZ and BMW, and the companies are pretty particular about it. Also use distilled water to mix it down, not tap water. Dealers usually don't charge that much for coolant, and it's cheap if you do it every 3 years.

i had a 95 mazda protoge 1.5L . once i put synthetic oil in it. engine lost lot of power and sound very bad. after 2 weeks i decided to change oil back to regular 5w30. i drain oil god damn came out very dark and black. also it was only 2 weeks old synthetic oil. forget the mechanics. follow the manual books. but only thing high mileage cars you can try one step thick oil then yours. just listen the engine sound it tells you which oil is good for you.
@BigKleib34 what an ignorant comment, in more than one way. If you think toyotas are bad cars, man, you know nothing about the auto industry. Or perhaps you work for another company that makes cars which don't last as long. Scotty
@scottykilmer I agree, Toyota are one of the most reliable car , some last longer then some german cars, which are now days not maintaining the name they have.
@BigKleib34 toyota is by far the most reliable car in the world. in holland if you look at cars from 1995 til now still 88% of them are running. anything else you should buy is like an opel agila or kia picanto. strangely these glorious american cars never seem to be that high in polls.
@BigKleib34 Are you stupid? I have a mercedes and a toyota both 04. The merc has broken down several times the toyota 0. Never again will i buy a mercedes!!
@BigKleib34 I don't know what world you're living in , pal, but Toyota's aren't a bad car. Hell, they don't even have a Transmission dip stick because it's a life-time guarantee fluid in there. Anyways, the real thing he messed up with is the jump starting. It's really bad to do with newer cars because it's harsh on the Alternator, which will make make it over charge and send it's power either through your car, or the other person's, potentially frying a lot of expensive electronic components.
i have the GREEN 50/50 coolant tht i bought for my atv but i ended up selling my atv, and i have a 94 acura integra now and im wondering could i use this green coolant in it...

@Theninja80291 syn oil is oil that has been treated to remove impurities, normally using acids. It lasts longer, takes more heat, but costs tons more.

@Restarea11019V Any vehicle with an electric fuel pump will eventually burn out the pump if it's not pumping fuel.
That being said, most diesel trucks have mechanical pumps because of the pressure involved. And the bigger problem with those is air lock. If you run an 18 wheeler out of gas it can mean an hour of work to individually disconnect each injector line, bleed it of air, and reconnect it.
Sometimes you get lucky and you can get it running again without bleeding. Often times you don't.
@luvtoeatit2000 lol i already did it... ran out on the side of the road. most ppl say I have about a year to get it flushed... what do you think? Nothing has failed or seen out of the ordinary so far. I've got a 2003 Tacoma with 121k miles (2.7L). I know the manual says otherwise, but it's probably got 3+ gallons of red and 1/2 gallons of green. Crazy. XD
I got one. And I've been guilty of this before. Using a floor jack under the rear differential pumkin to lift both wheels off the ground. Weight is being held by the horizontal axial strength. Not good.
A question: Isn't Full Synthetic oil for high performance engines? Is it not overkill to use Full synthetic oil on a regular engine? Half synthetic is usually good enough right?
@crazimatthi No, snyth oil was not just for performance engines. You want your "regular" motor to last A LOT longer with less friction, use synthetic. It's all about personal standards. No such thing as overkill with oil.
@weelgunny I agree with this 100%! Sure you can use synthetic but the less friction that you allow the engine to endure, the longer it is going to last and the longer you delay the wear down of the internal engine components. :)
@crazimatthi Nothing wrong with using synthetic oil. You can use synthetic oil in high performance engines, but they are certainly not restricted to JUST high performance vehicles. Absolutely nothing wrong with doing it. I buy a 5 quart jug of Valvoline Synpower for $29.00 and an oil filter for $6. That's about $35. Add another $12 to make it $47 if you're not feeling up to changing it yourself. Not that expensive and will help the car run longer since most of us forget. :)
Aluminum doesn't rust, it "corrodes". PURE aluiminum doesn't corrode. But aluminum alloys used in car engines DO corrode under the right conditions. The good thing about that is the heat generated by the engine keeps the aluminum parts dry all the time.
are all those video transitions even necessary, turning around to a different camera angle after every sentence? its very distracting. just make your videos simple cus honestly it isnt fancy nor does it make the video more interesting.
@Gproducshizz You don't know much about people watching videos. and as over 10 million people have watched mine, I certainly will not take your advice.
@scottykilmer I actually agree, the multiple video transitions make the video less interesting. And you don't have to be a DICK about having a suggestion on your comment section.
@perrota88 I can if I think it's a stupid comment from someone who knows nothing about what a good video looks like, and makes really stupid videos of his own. If you don't like em, don't watch them, I could care less. Millions of people love em.

@oldtrucker63 what is wrong with people? I give great free car advice, and they whine about stupid things. Stop being so anal and learn something from my videos.
on the car w/ the dead battery you should connect the negative jumper to the frame incase there is a high impedance with the batteries negative cable , where if it was and connected to the terminal large ammounts of current would suge through the dead battery causing flammable hydrogen gas.. also the basic car maintenance is look under the hood at each fillup.
@WWBZT1 In some cases there may not be a good enough bonding between the frame and the battery to jump start it. Ask me how I know this. If connecting through the frame doesn't work, then you must connect directly at the battery. I think you can minimize sparks near the outgasing battery by disconnecting first at the donor car's battery. In other words, you open the circuit first, and THEN disconnect at the recipient battery.
Also, when charging the battery from a charger pack, TURN OFF THE PACK BEFORE TAKING IT OFF!!! When batterys charge they give off hydrogen, which is VERY exposive. I didn't know that when I was starting out, and one blew up in my face. Acid burns HURT!!!
@tasios77 My fuel pump goes out like clock-work every four years. The key is listening for it. The pump is normally relatively silent. If I can hear the pump, GET THEE TO A GARAGE IMMEDIATELY LEST YEE GET STUCK OUT ON THE ROAD. The fuel pump in my car will "warn" me for a few days, then it dies. And when it dies the engine quits. They key is if the sound of the pump gets noticable. If you can hear it, replace it. Take it to a garage. Gasoline is too dangerous for the do it yourselfer.
scotty when jumping a car ,never connect the negative of the car to be jumped on the negative of the battery but rather off an earth point in the engine bay or off the engine itself.....for the same reason as not to fry the ecu
Another dumb thing people do is they never change their auto tranny fluid and filter. Ive bought so many cars that had a transmission on its last legs because they didnt change it for 150k miles. You should change the fluid and filter every 40k to 60k miles. It's also good to change the timing belt at the same time.
Stop pointing and waving your wrench at me!!! .............but seriously i love your videos they are great fun to watch and you obviously know your stuff.
lesson 1. CHANGE YOUR DAMN FLUIDS.. TOO OFTEN IF NEED BE.

Often times you don't.

what about mixing red/green antifreeze?
lifeisgood070 2 weeks ago
@lifeisgood070 NOOOO the green is regular anti-freeze, the red is dextron...totally different..dont do it
luvtoeatit2000 2 weeks ago
@luvtoeatit2000 lol i already did it... ran out on the side of the road. most ppl say I have about a year to get it flushed... what do you think? Nothing has failed or seen out of the ordinary so far. I've got a 2003 Tacoma with 121k miles (2.7L). I know the manual says otherwise, but it's probably got 3+ gallons of red and 1/2 gallons of green. Crazy. XD

hey scotty, great advices on your video. An honest suggestion, I agree you should reduce the camera changes to make your videos even cooler. regards.

Half synthetic is usually good enough right?
crazimatthi 2 weeks ago
@crazimatthi Semi senthetic*
crazimatthi 2 weeks ago
@crazimatthi All new engines runs better on full syntetic oils.
mariusz76a 2 weeks ago
@mariusz76a Oh ok, Thanks (y)
crazimatthi 2 weeks ago
@crazimatthi Yes, it's all overkill for normal driving. Me, I use normal oil and change it every 3 thousand miles in city driving, or twice a year.
scottykilmer 2 weeks ago
@crazimatthi No, snyth oil was not just for performance engines. You want your "regular" motor to last A LOT longer with less friction, use synthetic. It's all about personal standards. No such thing as overkill with oil.
weelgunny 2 weeks ago
@weelgunny I agree with this 100%! Sure you can use synthetic but the less friction that you allow the engine to endure, the longer it is going to last and the longer you delay the wear down of the internal engine components. :)
under0ath109 2 weeks ago

@oldtrucker63 what is wrong with people? I give great free car advice, and they whine about stupid things. Stop being so anal and learn something from my videos.
scottykilmer 3 weeks ago 7
on the car w/ the dead battery you should connect the negative jumper to the frame incase there is a high impedance with the batteries negative cable , where if it was and connected to the terminal large ammounts of current would suge through the dead battery causing flammable hydrogen gas.. also the basic car maintenance is look under the hood at each fillup.
WWBZT1 3 weeks ago
@WWBZT1 In some cases there may not be a good enough bonding between the frame and the battery to jump start it. Ask me how I know this. If connecting through the frame doesn't work, then you must connect directly at the battery. I think you can minimize sparks near the outgasing battery by disconnecting first at the donor car's battery. In other words, you open the circuit first, and THEN disconnect at the recipient battery.
JetMechMA 3 weeks ago
Also, when charging the battery from a charger pack, TURN OFF THE PACK BEFORE TAKING IT OFF!!! When batterys charge they give off hydrogen, which is VERY exposive. I didn't know that when I was starting out, and one blew up in my face. Acid burns HURT!!!
MamLewis 3 weeks ago
One more tip, don't leave the fuel level on E all the time. The fuel also helps keep the pump cooler so it lasts longer.
tasios77 3 weeks ago
@tasios77 My fuel pump goes out like clock-work every four years. The key is listening for it. The pump is normally relatively silent. If I can hear the pump, GET THEE TO A GARAGE IMMEDIATELY LEST YEE GET STUCK OUT ON THE ROAD. The fuel pump in my car will "warn" me for a few days, then it dies. And when it dies the engine quits. They key is if the sound of the pump gets noticable. If you can hear it, replace it. Take it to a garage. Gasoline is too dangerous for the do it yourselfer.

Another dumb thing people do is they never change their auto tranny fluid and filter. Ive bought so many cars that had a transmission on its last legs because they didnt change it for 150k miles. You should change the fluid and filter every 40k to 60k miles. It's also good to change the timing belt at the same time.
